Petzval 58mm, ƒ/1.9

It started to rain a bit today but already stopped again too soon. We need rain badly as it is / was way too hot and dry these last months.

I remember the day I took this image: it was a mild winter evening and I just needed some fresh air ... so I took a stroll through the rainy neighbourhood with my camera and my beloved nifty fifty : ))

These are the wooden planks of a small platform near a museum and cinema where you can sit, linger, play ... and sometimes they do tango on it !

So this is my virtual rain dance !

Dies ist also mein virtueller Regentanz !

Photographed while exploring with NJ. Steveston, Richmond, BC. September 26, 2015.

We finally have frost. I love to watch the progression of these lanterns from green to orange to porous where the red seed appears.

In 2017 we planted three small perennial plants of Physalis alkekengi, (aka bladder cherry, Chinese lantern, Japanese-lantern, strawberry, groundcherry, or winter cherry). I love the cheery orangish lantern-shaped paper-like pod or husk around each bright round seed.

Now we have many new volunteer plants in addition to those we planted. Another fun photo to take advantage of this morning's frost, with camera, tripod splayed, and coffee. And reading no news!

.... seeing these beautiful flowers gives me every year a bit of a melancholy feel ... it’s already August

Lange Schatten und lichte Punkte. Das Jahr 2020.

Maybe a rope to hold on to. A lot of shade this year, for many stinging like needles. A lot has changed for many, is still changing. Maybe there is also a soft base. Just like here. And – where there is shadow, there is also light – so they say. Just like here. A lot is being questioned or reconsidered in order to make it better in the future. So it fits that green is also known as the color of hope ;-)

/

Again serious thoughts on my part. Although I have implemented this picture very playfully and with a lot of fun ;-) I wish you all that you can also act in a playful way – and have fun doing it :-)))

///

/

Wieder einmal ernste Gedanken meinerseits.

#MacroMondays 2020 / July 20 / #Numbers / HMM to everyone!

#YourBestShot2020

Day 162/365:

Saw this Hillman Minx, vintage car in a car park in Cromer, Norfolk. Tomorrow there is a vintage car show in Sheringham, the next town along.

I'm usually rubbish at photographing vehicles but I'm actually quite pleased with this one. At least I got a shot which is all I'm aiming for at the moment.

If you have a minute you may enjoy viewing and listening to this video by Madness...a bit of fun and a blast from the past:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV1_7R_3cXA

Another macro double exposure where I made the first image totally blurred and the second in focus. I'm enjoying these but am aware it's all a bit samey...needs must though. This one is the echinops in my garden. The bees love these and I was being dive bombed constantly while photographing.

Trying to catch up after my break but had our grandson for the afternoon so will attempt to catch up this evening.

#59 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

Anything goes 2021 - Bees and butterflies (a hoverfly was the best I could get)

Looking Close on Friday - Small animals with wings

The hoverfly landed on the cosmos while I was trying to get a shot, the hoverfly is not wonderfully in focus but since I love cosmos flowers and quite liked the shot anyway, I thought I'd post it.

It's blowing a gale outside with torrential rain forecast...so I've had a happy hour or so looking back over sunnier times in Crete earlier this year :)

Fluss der Sonne oder des Mondes. Manchmal eine Illusion.

Like a day by the sea or river, drifting along until sunset, maybe on a small boat ... Reality sometimes plays a small trick on you ;-) But for me this is a nice view of a little trip to Italy, to Comer Lake that awaits me and hopefully it will not be an illusion :-) This photo was taken on a beautiful evening in my garden – I have a pretty old table in one corner, the wood of which is simply too beautifully mossy not to keep ... By the way, the sun is simulated here by an orange candy ;-)

Moon River / Audrey Hepburn / Breakfast at Tiffany's

The "Moon River" really does exist – it is the "Back River" that crosses the small town of Savannah in the US state of Georgia, the hometown of Johnny Mercer. There on the river bank of Burnside Island was his house, and on the terrace he wrote the text, with a view of the particularly wide river at this point.

Das Blaue vom Himmel. Das Grüne aus dem Erdboden.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

A delicate, somewhat diffuse side and a clearly structured side. Sometimes it's good that there is the second – it will hopefully bring us back to the real ground when we have been promised the blue of the sky and it doesn't quite turn out to be reality ;-) I wish everyone a fun diversified evening!

///

Promising someone the blue of the sky – the symbol is easy to understand: What falls from the sky happens without your own intervention and without any influence on it. The saying is very old – the first written evidence is from the year 1656 ... In English it is expressed more like: "to promise the moon" or "... sky and the stars". At least that's how I was able to research it – if there are any objections, I ask for correction! ;-)

///

Im Englischen wird es eher so ausgedrückt: "to promise the moon" or "... sky and the stars". ;-)

Going through my archives and came across this one from one of our last stays with my sister in France pre Covid. I can't wait to go back. We visited La Vallée des Singes (Monkey Park)

Another perfectly named insect - I was lucky enough to find a few of these lovely creatures in a patch of nettles at a local wildlife trust yesterday.

Resting on nettles at Woods Mill nature reserve yesterday. I love their elegantly patterned wings :)

Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday - HMBT

It's Aggie time again. I always look forward to the agapanthus coming into bud.

Away from the worldly chaos

I shall lay my head over them

Another one from my bouquet of flowers. There are no pink roses in the bouquet, this is a blend of two images, I then changed the hue.

Crazy Tuesday - theme of April 21nd, 2020: Lines

... the lines of my classical guitar (frets and strings) ... and some paper clip ...

.... this guitar paper clip is very clingy by the way: it already was a subject of my submission for MM yesterday - but it just wouldn't let go !! So here we are again :D

HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday, everyone : )

#Safety

I wonder if James would approve of this? This is a look inside of a small TSA 007 safety lock which I use on my – at the moment unemployed – camera backpack. I think James should approve if the number is 007, although I read somewhere that these locks are easy to pick. Well, I don't care, the only thing this lock is supposed to do is to prevent pickpockets from emptying the camera compartment of my backpack while I'm in a crowd :)

My MM experience at the moment is like picking the petals off a daisy, saying "Will I take part", "Will I skip", "Will I take part", "Will I skip"... and so on ;) I seem to be in a lockdown lethargy, but my inspiration is slowly coming back. Or is it? Well, I certainly hope so :)

The keyhole of this safety lock is 4 mm / 0,157 inches high. I used the 10mm Kenko extension tube and the Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens attached to my macro lens to get nicely close, but not too close. The image is a manual focus stack made of only two images, because it was impossible to get those two metal components (there are more inside) equally sharp in a single shot. Processed in DXO PhotoLab, Analog Efex (the vignette), Color Efex (Graduated Neutral Density Filter) and Luminar AI (details on the metal parts inside of the lock).

Happy Macro Monday, stay safe and happy, everyone :)

100 Flowers 2020

Another one from my reserves, gradually getting there, just two more to go.

I think this rose looks like whipped cream.

Hope this finds you well and coping!

Day 346/365:

Definitely Dreaming - Dreaming of...A White Christmas

We rarely have snow here now, at least not enough to settle. So I took advantage, wrapped up warm grabbed my walking stick, a couple of baubles and my camera with Lensbaby Velvet 56 and set off into the fields at the end of our road. It was a difficult walk but I got the shot I had envisaged so was a happy bunny.

Macro Mondays - theme of June 8th, 2020: On a coin

This earring was a gift from my dad - we both shared the love for the colour turquoise / cyan

(the coin is 2.3 cm in diameter, the stones are 1.5 mm - I should have polished the silver, but - alas - didn't have the time)

The one pound coin I will spend when we come back again to London / England (we would have been in London this spring, but then Corona happened)

Happy Macro Mondays, everyone

Erinnerungen

...Lensbaby Sol 45 with fixed aperture of 3.5

Wanted to see if I could get some action with camera and lens. To show card movement, that is. Need a card shark and a whole lot more practice to show movement at this table. And to set up a better light or two.

Just for fun.
