Taken yesterday inside my conservatory and bought for the purpose but will be a nice addition on my patio when I have finished having a play with a few vintage lenses...this was taken using a Sony A7RM2 with a Pentacon 1.8 attached but to get so close a Viltrox NEX to Nik adapter then a Nikon to M42 adapter - both taking the glass further away and acting like tele converters. A tiny bit of diffusion added in Photoshop...

#Buckle

The research for what exactly the (belt) buckle you can see in my image is called almost took longer than taking the photo itself – because this is actually one of my test shots ;) But sometimes the test shot is the best, and I liked it, so I went for it. I couldn't find a definite term for this type of buckle but on Wikipedia, I found the so-called "Western or cowboy buckle" that at least works in the same way as this buckle does: it has a pin on the underside which is inserted into the belt hole of choice (and comfort). This buckle even has two pins, one which fixates the leather strap underneath the buckle, and the aforementioned pin to adjust the belt's length. This also makes it easy to take the buckle off the belt without damaging either belt or buckle.

The belt is what one might call a fashion belt (it belongs to my Mom, magrit k., and she says that it is from the 1970s or 80s) but unlike most fashion things today it is of very sturdy and good quality. Although the belt is very slim (only 1,4 cm / 0,55 inches wide), the red leather strap itself is really thick (3 mm / 0,11 inches) and it's still in excellent condition.

But enough of the belt because here I have photographed the buckle on its own. The width of the buckle (and therefore also of the frame) is 1,8 cm / 0,70 inches. The length of the decorative element in the buckle's centre part is 2,5 cm / 0,98 inches. That deco element is embossed with tiny dots (bokeh!) and its shape is what I'd describe as a hybrid between an H and an X (to me it also looks like a tiny person with raised arms reminiscent of some statues of the Mayan culture).

Light sources were a natural light photo lamp from above and two LED lights, one from the left (equipped with the semi-translucent yellow bottle cap colour "filter") and one from the right (red transparent chocolate box colour "filter" placed in front of it). It's a single shot captured wide open at F2.8 for that extra shallow DOF and bokeh.

One last thought: The small red and orange "bokeh worms" in the upper middle look like telescope eyes to me, and together with the colours this reminded me of a Gecarcinus quadratus, a colourful land crab species that is also known as "Halloween crab" or "Halloween moon crab". So maybe this isn't a belt buckle at all, but a "Halloween buckle crab" ;)

HMM, Everyone, and have a great week ahead!

An ultra macro of the hinge of my safety glasses. Almost touching the hinge and lens focused manually.

A possible entry for my fav group: Macro Mondays. About 2 cm / 0.79 inches across.

In January 2022 I asked a Flickr support hero to remove my accounts from the Explore algorithm. Peace.

Anything goes 2021 - Bees and butterflies (a hoverfly was the best I could get)

Looking Close on Friday - Small animals with wings

The hoverfly landed on the cosmos while I was trying to get a shot, the hoverfly is not wonderfully in focus but since I love cosmos flowers and quite liked the shot anyway, I thought I'd post it.

When I stuck my nose out into the garden today, I found this little daisy in the company of a little feather. The blade of grass doesn't seem to be a real limit for the two of them – they stretch towards each other and definitely freeze both. But the cold ice thaws a little for the spring messengers ;-)

Day 162/365:

Saw this Hillman Minx, vintage car in a car park in Cromer, Norfolk. Tomorrow there is a vintage car show in Sheringham, the next town along.

I'm usually rubbish at photographing vehicles but I'm actually quite pleased with this one. At least I got a shot which is all I'm aiming for at the moment.

If you have a minute you may enjoy viewing and listening to this video by Madness...a bit of fun and a blast from the past:

Plum blossom from my garden

Photographed while exploring with NJ. Steveston, Richmond, BC. September 26, 2015.

I keep this in the silverware drawer to use almost daily on jars or lids or other such frustrating things. I think this makes me much more gentle than tossing something across the room, don't you?

Back after I ask my significant other what the proper name of this is, if you're interested.

Ah, a pair of duck-billed pliers with which to grip, bend, and twist small things. Small enough for my smallish hand.

Another perfectly named insect - I was lucky enough to find a few of these lovely creatures in a patch of nettles at a local wildlife trust yesterday.

Fluss der Sonne oder des Mondes. Manchmal eine Illusion.

Like a day by the sea or river, drifting along until sunset, maybe on a small boat ... Reality sometimes plays a small trick on you ;-) But for me this is a nice view of a little trip to Italy, to Comer Lake that awaits me and hopefully it will not be an illusion :-) This photo was taken on a beautiful evening in my garden – I have a pretty old table in one corner, the wood of which is simply too beautifully mossy not to keep ... By the way, the sun is simulated here by an orange candy ;-)

Moon River / Audrey Hepburn / Breakfast at Tiffany's

The "Moon River" really does exist – it is the "Back River" that crosses the small town of Savannah in the US state of Georgia, the hometown of Johnny Mercer. There on the river bank of Burnside Island was his house, and on the terrace he wrote the text, with a view of the particularly wide river at this point.

#43 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

Still trying to get to grips with the Sweet 35 so I think the composition went to pot a bit but another one for my 100.

On evenings with sunlight, I wander around with monopod and camera. This light and new blooms brought me joy.

About as shot. I'm trying to learn a bit more about Adobe Camera Raw that opens before my old version of Photoshop. It's good to learn something new, I think.

Das Blaue vom Himmel. Das Grüne aus dem Erdboden.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

A delicate, somewhat diffuse side and a clearly structured side. Sometimes it's good that there is the second – it will hopefully bring us back to the real ground when we have been promised the blue of the sky and it doesn't quite turn out to be reality ;-) I wish everyone a fun diversified evening!

///

Promising someone the blue of the sky – the symbol is easy to understand: What falls from the sky happens without your own intervention and without any influence on it. The saying is very old – the first written evidence is from the year 1656 ... In English it is expressed more like: "to promise the moon" or "... sky and the stars". At least that's how I was able to research it – if there are any objections, I ask for correction! ;-)

///

Im Englischen wird es eher so ausgedrückt: "to promise the moon" or "... sky and the stars". ;-)

... this must be the reason I gave my hubby this orange christal ball paperweight some years ago : ))

Wanted to see if I could get some action with camera and lens. To show card movement, that is. Need a card shark and a whole lot more practice to show movement at this table. And to set up a better light or two.

Just for fun.

🎶 Mike + The Mechanics - Another Cup of Coffee 🎵

... a (sad / melancholic) song of the 90's especially for coffee addicts - I like the voice of Paul Carrack and the somewhat quirky video (even though the perception of women shown in it seems to be a bit outdated now).

My (current) favourite (Sherlock Holmes) coffee mug by the way ;))

Thanks for visiting.

Take care out there......

This years remake of an older pic from me ("Cache" - 2016).

One of the groups I'm in had the subject of a "shallow depth of field" for the weekly theme.

I'd never tried for a shot with a S.D.F before and if I've ever done it, then it's been an accident.

For those techy minded and in the know - have I done it in this photo?

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

For all my dear Flickr friends ..... a big 'thank you' for your faves and lovely comments on my images. So much appreciated xoxo

Day 268/365:

I attempted a photoshoot with my new granddaughter, I didn't get many I was pleased with as I had to sit down so couldn't get into the positions I would have liked...and she was such a little fidget! Anyway, here she is and we think she's gorgeous:)

Crazy Tuesday - theme of April 21nd, 2020: Lines

... the lines of my classical guitar (frets and strings) ... and some paper clip ...

.... this guitar paper clip is very clingy by the way: it already was a subject of my submission for MM yesterday - but it just wouldn't let go !! So here we are again :D

I know, same idea, different receptacle but all is fair in love and a 365...and I wanted to use these lovely little sparaxis flowers in some way.

I found this rodent skull last year, while out walking. It was just outside a freshly dug badger's sett.
