The Espresso Setup by Desert Koi

My beloved La Pavoni Europiccola Millenium (with all plastic internal parts replaced with brass/metal) and Pasquini Moka grinder in the background.

I first discovered and began lusting after the europiccola when I was 17 (the year I discovered espresso). Seven years ago I finally got around to purchasing one.

Though both my wife and I have been professional baristas at quality coffee shops it still took us about a year to become passably good at using it. Even today only two out of three pulls are adequate (perhaps something I'd rate a 7 or 8 out of 10) Every fifth or sixth shot, though, is pure heaven.

2 bottles with styrofoam between held together with rubber bands

sb28 on lowest setting through grid, cto gel on bottom part so the female flask is more intense orange of color, I really wanted to light the bottles from below so they glowed

left is a box so the bottom of the 'bed' is in a shadow

left top is a strobe (metz 48af1) on 1/64 with grid and cto gel too too

all manually triggered by camera flash, set to 1/20th trough a small softbox to give some fill on the 'bed sheets'

and yes on the left that's a bally bumper pinball machine from 1936 used as a flash stand

Drop Setup by Joseph Calev

An overview of my setup. Originally I started with the table and a large sheet of white background held up by a refrigerator box. I later built the DIY light table. Two light stands hold up a bar with the siphons and valves (not shown) and I have flexible arms and a magic arm attached to them for speedlights. Next to it is a stand I recently added to protect my equipment from the drops. On the bottom are my liquid additives. Above that are premixed colors and above that are my two Stopshots.

Travis :: Setup by Sid Ceaser

My buddy Travis has recently become very involved with the Granite State Skeptics. He's is more frequently blogging and hosting events, so he wanted something that he could use as a visual for his posts and stuff. So, Trav stopped by today for a quick session.

We ended up lighting him with three lights; one with a grid behind him as a rim light, one light with a grid that was pointed at the front of his computer, and the third light was a small speedlight with a blue gel that we had sitting on his laptop keyboard, pointed at the laptop screen. We had a white piece of paper attached to the screen, and when the light fired, it bounced the blue light back at Travis, filling him with a blue screen glow.

I'm pretty happy with how this came out, in relative short time.

DAZ-Studio_screen by Skeptisk

This is how DAZ Studio is set up on my laptop. Content, Scene and Surfaces-tabe on the left side. Parameters tab on the right side. If I need to I can collaps both to view a bigger vision of the scene. The Content is organized in a sensible way were I seperate Clothes, People, Animals, Plants, Props, Scenes, Vehicles and so on into main folders. I've sub-divided them further; eg. Clothes into M4, K4 and V4 folders, Air, Land and Sea for Vehicles (same with Animals, but I added Dragons, Dinosaurs and used the default Fantasy-SciFi folder for special animals/creatures). This way I can easily find anything.

Hair is an own main folder, not organized as most hair is unimesh (goes on many diferent meshes; eg. K4, M4, V4 etc.). The reason is to keep the hierarchy to a minimum. The FX folder is for special effects (snow, waterfall, explosions etc.).
