This is what happens when I can't find the little piece that screws into the bottom of my camera that attaches it to my tripod. I attach my gorilla pod bendable tripod to my D3 and I wrap that around the top of my tripod. Improvise. :)

The same very simple setup that I used yesterday, but with a second light, if you can call it that, sneaking into the frame :)
Main light is a 20W CFL desklamp which is lighting a green card backdrop.
In addition, just visable at the top, is a small LED flashlight directly above the lump of glass which is giving the blue highlights.
Guess it is worth mentioning, the white balance on the camera is set to tungsten, which is a close match to the CFL bulb used here.
The subject is placed on a clear glass shelf which is picking up the reflected colour from the backdrop.
The 2 sheets of black card which are folded in half to create a V shape are placed either side to add black reflections or should that be lowlights, in the subject.
The clear glass base might not have been a such a good idea and I might have another go using a black mirror base, we shall see.

It might be a bit hard to make out the sheet of foam core on the right, as it's edge-on, but it's there.

So Cricce and I finally found some time to have our "mini strobist meetup", and we had a blast. We found the perfect location, a small pier on Kakskerta (in Turku / Ã…bo), where we had the sun setting as a background.

Getting closer! In this photo, systems are hooked up and powered on, placards have been placed on top of he monitors, and we have some banners setup.
Almost didnt post a setup shot today, as this is another variation on the one I have been using over the last few days, but i guess it shows how versatile it is.
All the light here is being bounced off the white background and there are black cards clipped onto my diffusion screens to prevent light from the sides hitting the subject.
Again there are 3 stick type CFL lamps mounted in Pringles reflectors. One each side and the third to the rear and below the glass shelf, which has the underside painted black, for the mirror effect.
Setup shot for the inside spread. The notes should explain all the Technical stuff.
Apologies for the noise on this shot - it was taken on my compact, on full auto mode, and the silver panel confused the hell out of the flash - hence I had to drag it up something rotten in Potatoshop.
