Images taken on the Myherin Stages of the World Rally Championship round of Wales Rally GB.

Taken at Lord's cricket ground before the T20 Blast game between Middlesex and Surrey, Thursday July 13th. Though it gave me a chuckle, the lady was right to reserve seats for her friends as the ground slowly filled to a near-capacity 27,205.

I figured out a use for empty film containers. ;-)

One of Cornwall’s iconic boat trips, the St Mawes Ferry makes the crossing from Falmouth to St Mawes 364 days a year.

The ferry takes 162,000 passenger on 2.8 mile journey every year, saving them what would be a 29 mile journey.

St Mawes is a small town opposite Falmouth, on the Roseland Peninsula on the south coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies on the east bank of the Carrick Roads, a large waterway created after the Ice Age from an ancient valley which flooded as the melt waters caused the sea level to rise dramatically, creating an immense natural harbour, often claimed to be the third largest in the world. It was once a busy fishing port, but the trade declined during the 20th century and it now serves as a popular tourist location, with many properties in the town functioning as holiday accommodation.[citation needed] The town is in the civil parish of St Just in Roseland.

A year-round ferry provides a service to Falmouth, which is less than a mile away by boat, but due to its proximity to the Fal estuary it is some 30 miles (48 km) away by road.

Active Assignment for the week of April 13th-20th: Stairways

Your assignment for this week is to creatively capture all or a portion of a stairway or set of stairs. Stairways are fascinating in that they lead somewhere—up or down and often times to mysterious looking places. Think of varying perspectives (close, wide, up, down) and try different framing options. Be careful and don’t fall down the stairs.

WIT: While taking different views on these sets of stairs with mitzi at the top and me lying down the bottom. I happened to focus on my feet so put mitzi in the frame and voila. Submitted for a bit of fun :-)

One of many old facades around the Christchurch CBD, that're currently secured to stacks of shipping containers...in hopes that "one day" they may be incorporated into the frontage of a new building.

Home energy saving kits are now available to borrow at all Dublin City Public Libraries.

The Home Energy Saving Kits have been developed by Dublin's energy agency Codema and contain six practical tools to help the public save energy at home. The items in the toolkits address three key areas of energy use in the home - space heating, hot water and electricity consumption - and can help identify common problems such as lack of insulation, poor ventilation and the appliances in the home that might be driving up electricity bills.

So 30 Min. of Halpha from a remote scope in Spain came to the rescue.

I did went back into color calibration from the DSLR data from here (www.flickr.com/photos/73349309@N03/9606022660/) and added the Halpha in PS. Some resharpening and at least a somewhat presentable outcome. As always, work in progress.

This was an awesome setup - Zyye started it, and we all chipped in, added some, and then Kelly and Toya wanted in on the action. Who will win the battle for Beth?

A photo of a piggy bank showing someone saving up for a wedding. This image shows money being saved up for a wedding using a piggy bank labelled 'Wedding'. Next to the savings pot we see a calendar that shows the wedding day date. The photograph also features pink flowers and bank notes, pounds and coins being saved up for the wedding. The British government, finding war was inevitable, sent out an army from England in all the splendour of European military pageantry. There were lancers with fluttering pennons, brass bands, and gun teams with pipe-clayed drag-ropes. The army marched into Zululand with bands playing, and one of its columns was surprised by a force of twenty thousand Zulus, who massacred eight hundred British soldiers and five hundred native auxiliaries. The tents were discovered still standing as if nothing had happened, and all round lay the disembowelled corpses of the defenders, the dead horses and oxen, and the rifled stores and ammunition boxes. That was Isandlwana
