As fuel costs have risen dramatically over the last year; I like many others have taken to turning the heating down or off.

Its surprising how many extra layers of clothing you need when sitting in front of the computer and not moving much.

At least here in the UK its just cold as opposed to parts of the USA and Canada that are currently in the "deep freeze".

In the 1970's this area of New London was abandoned and set for redevelopment. But the Savings Bank of New London saw it's potential and wanted to preserve some of the areas history and contribution to our country's establishment and growth. So they bought up the block and renovated every house.

The hike up to Kriški podi, where the Pogačnik hut stands, is quite long. The parking lot is early down in the Zadnjica valley and from there you have almost 4 h of walk. We needed a bit less, but because in the evening a tiring party was expected, we walked in a power-saving mode.

This scene is early above the Zadnjica, still with the view on Kanjavec.
