Thursday 17 January 2013: Cross stitch sampler

It's another cold, icy morning and since I've got no reason to go out today I thought I would stay indoors in the warm - well after filling up all the bird feeders and putting out the rubbish, that is.

This cross stitch sampler was given to me as a present by a good friend and so, despite having arthritis in both hands, I set to to complete it. I'm glad I did - it didn't take long as it is only about 9cm square - and I liked that every quadrant was different. It now hangs in my hall with other examples of my handiwork and bits of artwork from other artists.

Finished! I had a hard time taking nice photos of it, but these will do. Maybe when the weather finally dries out, I'll try a few outside.

Yes, you probably saw this picture on Jenny's Flickr. I took it using Jenny's camera!

Sampler with a variety of blocks from a number of designers.

A sampler dedicated to all thing stitching.!!!!

This has pride of place on my stairs wall where everyone can see it. The wraps of cross-stitch thread are hand made and stitched into place - the safety pins and needles are read - the buttons are real.

I really enjoyed completing this piece

I love this blanket pattern, mostly because it’s easy to carry around with me since it’s all little blocks.

I may change my mind once I get to the part where I have to join them all together :)

Currently complete: 14/35 blocks

The blocks before they were put together. I was also figuring out the block arrangement.

I've been working on this in bewteen lazy summer days. I'm making it up as I go along with the help from my lovely book: Samplers by Susan Mayor & Diana Fowle. As blogged about here: 66stitches.blogspot.com/
