Jane Mabie was twelve years old when she made this sampler near the New York/New Jersey border. Pairs of birds form a frieze through the center of the work and another bird perches in an overflowing flower basket. The building may represent the Tappan Inn, an important colonial-era tavern. It is now the Old 76 House.

I'm halfway....I've been embroidering at night before bed, so it's not long before my eyes are too tired to do much...
I'm using supplies I had on hand from my previous stints in embroidery and cross stitch that date back about 10 years. I'm glad to get back into it, but MAN, do my stitches need some work!!

A knitting sampler, knitted last night and about to be frogged. I used the yarn that I got from the Biggan Dups class on Continental Knitting at the iKnit Weekender. It is DK weight 100% Australian Merino Wool and a delight to knit with. All of this stitch patterns were worked from "400 Knitting Stitches: Great Stitch Patterns" (Murdoch Books) - except the "heel stitch" which I found on www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/525 - and the stitch names and page numbers can be seen in the 'notes' as you hover over the photos on their flickr page.

Ruth Brown’s South Jersey sampler seems to depict a pair of exotic birds. Their thick, curved bills and spiky crest feathers suggest that they may be a type of crested parrot called a cockatoo, which are native to Australia. The needlework pattern may have been inspired by stories of exotic animals encountered by Europeans on voyages of trade and colonization.

Mini space sampler - four tiles choosen from the 16 tiles original.
This was stitched for a dear friend of mine who studies astrophysics, and these four tiles were particularly meaningful to our friendship.
The larger sampler was designed by Geri Ambrose of The Mathyspere (bought on Etsy).
Stitched on 25 count black Lugana using 3 strands of DMC floss.
I changed the colour scheme of the Martian sky from blue to yellow to give it a stormy look.
This was shot with my Super Sampler.
Also, this sign should not be facing the sidewalk. It should be facing the road. I find it funny that the morning I happened to have my camera with me, the sign was turned around.

VIntage Sampler from sweetfindings (etsy) bought for my daughter who has decided to dive headfirst into the art of Jewellery making!
There was a lovely mix of cute stuff inside, but the packaging was uber cute too!
I love this blanket pattern, mostly because it’s easy to carry around with me since it’s all little blocks.
I may change my mind once I get to the part where I have to join them all together :)
