Ruth Brown’s South Jersey sampler seems to depict a pair of exotic birds. Their thick, curved bills and spiky crest feathers suggest that they may be a type of crested parrot called a cockatoo, which are native to Australia. The needlework pattern may have been inspired by stories of exotic animals encountered by Europeans on voyages of trade and colonization.

Mini space sampler - four tiles choosen from the 16 tiles original.
This was stitched for a dear friend of mine who studies astrophysics, and these four tiles were particularly meaningful to our friendship.
The larger sampler was designed by Geri Ambrose of The Mathyspere (bought on Etsy).
Stitched on 25 count black Lugana using 3 strands of DMC floss.
I changed the colour scheme of the Martian sky from blue to yellow to give it a stormy look.
This was shot with my Super Sampler.
Also, this sign should not be facing the sidewalk. It should be facing the road. I find it funny that the morning I happened to have my camera with me, the sign was turned around.

I love this blanket pattern, mostly because it’s easy to carry around with me since it’s all little blocks.
I may change my mind once I get to the part where I have to join them all together :)

4lb Sampler carton with a foiled biscuit (usually just the one for the top of that particular stack of biscuits). Image from Trade Me vendor's listing.
Found a cute pendant frame at Michael's, removed one of the panes of plastic inside (you're supposed to sandwich a picture in there) and wrapped the other in fabric with some of my favourite stitches right now. From the top: up and down button stitch, double straight stitch, thorn stitch, open blanket stitch and tiny chain stitch. Chain stitches are something I need to work on. Over long distances they always look overstretched and sad. To the doodle cloth!

This piece was originally designed and kitted by Barbara Rakosnik The changes I made relate to the date, text and bottom band.

A knitting sampler, knitted last night and about to be frogged. I used the yarn that I got from the Biggan Dups class on Continental Knitting at the iKnit Weekender. It is DK weight 100% Australian Merino Wool and a delight to knit with. All of this stitch patterns were worked from "400 Knitting Stitches: Great Stitch Patterns" (Murdoch Books) - except the "heel stitch" which I found on www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/525 - and the stitch names and page numbers can be seen in the 'notes' as you hover over the photos on their flickr page.
so far this year I have had 3 beer samplers, a number that seems lower than it should be. This weekend, Dan and I met up with some friends at J.J. Bitting in Woodbridge, where large quantities of beer were consumed. They had a special beer sampler placemat, with a circle for each tiny glass, and descriptions of each beer. Definitely a very good setup. Their amber was by far my favorite, although the IPA was surprisingly smooth and tasty.
Sampler of brews from Titanic Brewery including: Triple Screw Light Ale, Boiler Room Nut Brown Ale, Britannic Best Bitter, Captain Smith's Rye Ale, White Star India Pale Ale, and Shipbuilders Oatmeal Stout. The brewery is steps away from the University of Miami (Coral Gables).
