closer sideways angle. i would make this again, but it either all one color in gray heather, oatmeal, denim blue, or all different more intense colors.
I would also change from a "J" hook down to "I" to slightly increase the weight and close up the stiches a bit more. as it is, most stitch patterns came out soft and with excellent drape.
I'm so glad I signed up for the Polka and Bloom embroidery class. Some of the stitches were familiar to me, but some are new! Here's my collection of them so far! (I put them on a home dec fabric sample from a discontinued, thrifted sample book.)
Wednesday 16 April 2014: Millennium Sampler #6
This is another section of the Millennium Sampler I completed on the 1st January 2000. These segments commemorate the Battle of Bannockburn and the Discovery of the New World.
The Battle of Bannockburn was a significant Scottish victory in the Wars of Scottish Independence. It was one of the most decisive battles of the First War of Scottish Independence, when Robert the Bruce lead his troops to defeat Edward II.
In 1492, Christopher Columbus had persuaded the Queen of Spain to fund a voyage of discovery which he said would speed up trade between Europe and China. Instead he discovered the New World of the Americas and Oceania. The rest, as they say, is history!
