I've always admired the Dear Jane sampler quilt, but since I don't really know how to applique or paper piece it seems a little beyond me. Somehow, I thought it would be easier to just put together a sampler quilt of my own.

I followed the look of Dear Jane, with the same 13 x 13 grid, and one color plus a neutral for the blocks.

I'm calling it "Hey Cherri", after my friend Cherri (pronounced Cherry) took me out for coffee to talk about quilts and inspired me to make this.

Action Sampler

Our Daily Challenge 18-24 December : Stitching.

This has always been in my possession but I have no idea who Elizabeth Croser was !

It measures just under 22" square.

Made in the year William IV was crowned

I made the first shadow box as a Christmas present for my mother, who taught me shell names like "cat's paw" and "lady slipper" as a child. (All shells were collected on Sanibel Island, Florida, over the course of 4 trips.) Now I've made 10 different "compositions" --all 5" x 7" in shadow boxes that look like museum specimen cases. Most of the shells are "mini" versions of a larger shell; a few are their normal size. This collection was a gift to a friend who loves cats -- hence, the four specimens of "cat's paw".

This design is now available to buy as a pattern pdf, details on my blog www.bearpawandbearpaw.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/embroidery-p...

A Rebecca Ringquist Sampler I finished recently. More photos on my blog.

My redwork embroidery sampler, work in progress. Notes detail all the stitches and materials used.

Its been over a year in the making, but I finally finished this project. I started the Rebecca Ringquist Dropcloth Sampler at an embroidery class at Fabric Nosherie last spring and finished it soon after. I finally made it into the pillow I'd been envisioning and finished it up over the weekend. I used shot cottons bought from Bon Bon Atilier; I'm a little sad that both shops I bought my supplies at have since closed.

City Sampler ....finally finished!! Blogged about at: cloudcoucoucrafts.wordpress.com Blocks from Tula Pink's City Sampler - 100 Modern Quilt Blocks

I've always kept this little sampler my grandma made me in my floss box. She taught me how to embroider when I was 6! I also keep a pair of doll boots in there for an unknown reason.

Mixing my color scraps for the 'main' fabric and printed whites for my background fabric, I created a completely unique look and layout for Tula Pink's Modern Sampler.

i took the action sampler on holiday to turkey. i took some photos. i then completely forgot about the exposed roll of film until i found it about three years later. the combination of the sampler's erratic nature and the old film made for some interesting results.

This embroidery sampler is hanging in a restaurant in the village. Fanciful birds, some with multiple heads, decorate the huipiles of this village, the older ones often all in red. Newer ones are in multiple bright colors and are dazzling. The work here is outstanding, unlimited creativity, though only the oldest women still wear the huipil anymore. Young women wear it only for special occasions, if at all. These birds are turkeys.
