This sampler is possibly the oldest homemade thing I own. It has the date 1838 and the name Harriet West, a name I didn’t recognise as part of my family, yet it had been found with my Grandmother’s things. It wasn’t until I began to trace my family tree that I finally solved the mystery, it was made by my Great Great Grandmother, West is her maiden name. Now it all makes sense!
When I inherited it, it was just a roughly folded piece of cloth and in a pretty poor state, I have had it mounted and framed and it hangs with a couple of samplers that I made myself.
It is hard to read though, it begins with the alphabet and numbers at the top, and the rest are bible quotes. Such a treasure.

Angelica reluctantly works on her sampler. It has taken years for her to get this far because she does not particularly enjoy needle crafting. Her mother insisted that all young ladies must create one.

Starting my own hot cocoa sampler pack (of pics). Inspired by Vicki's invitation to try The Thematorium's latest challenge, I tried to revisit a recent pic. I used a quality lens, but I didn't like the bokeh effect. I'll have to try again, but with a better bokeh lens.
About this: the marshmallow are homemade. But more about that later.

Utah Transit Authority's 10th Anniversary commemorative locomotive rumbles past the remains of the Utah Ore Sampling company building in Murray, Utah the evening May 25, 2018.
In order to break up the rows of stitching on my sampler, I cut a piece of felt, basted it down and used buttonhole stitches to appliqué it to my ticking background. I used buttonhole wheel stitches to embellish the felt flower shapes. The fern-like stems were done in my favorite variation of the fly stitch.
How was your morning? Besides 5°F (-15°C) temperatures the morning was amazing. Thanks to The Robey Hotel Team a bunch of like minded people gathered to have a blast! This is just one part of the views that Robey Hotel offers. What do you think?
there is some of my sister's potpourri encased behind the lace,the velvet is something I found in her stuff after she died, I think she might have been planning a crazy quilt. Everything is attached to a scrap of Aida cloth.
I've always admired the Dear Jane sampler quilt, but since I don't really know how to applique or paper piece it seems a little beyond me. Somehow, I thought it would be easier to just put together a sampler quilt of my own.
I followed the look of Dear Jane, with the same 13 x 13 grid, and one color plus a neutral for the blocks.
I'm calling it "Hey Cherri", after my friend Cherri (pronounced Cherry) took me out for coffee to talk about quilts and inspired me to make this.
