Rusty is a wonderful big lug of a dog. He has lived in a boarding facility for about a year except for 6 weeks where he escaped from a foster family and wondered all the way from echo park to handcock park and got hit by a car. he has spent the last month at the boarding facility in a crate while his broken leg heals.

One of two pairs of Rusty Blackbirds at Dowitcher Lake this year. This pair was kept busy feeding 4 or 5 young. This species has declined markedly across North America, especially the eastern half, so it is nice to see them keeping a toehold in this part of the world. Focus is a bit off on this one. Taken June 20, 2009.

I have only recently become aware of an apparent long time practice of couples expressing there devotion to each other by locking a lock or pair of locks to some permanent object like this bridge railing on the Harmar rail and foot bridge. This has become a pretty popular practice here with scores of these locks on the railing of the bridge. Here are just a few samples.
Proof that although devotion may never fade it apparently does become a little rusty with time LOL.
