Southampton has a rich naval history, hence the rusty old anchor and chains. There are too many incredible moments too try and mention so I chose to capture the HMS Victory of Admiral Nelson from the Battle of Trafalgar. Did you know that the prototype of the famous and much beloved Spitfire first took to the air at Southampton Airport on 5 March 1936? I felt it was fitting to pay tribute to this aircraft which played such a huge role in winning the war.
It is said that the souls of dead sailors are carried by seagulls and sparrows carry the souls of the dead too. They are gently swooping around the spitfires to show that the souls of the pilots are cared for.
To incorporate Winchester I thought that reflecting the magnificent round table hanging in the ancient great hall, in Rusty’s eyes, would be perfect.
Who doesn’t know the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the round table and the equally famous Excalibur which takes pride of place in the hares proud ears.
There is a new art trail in Southampton and Winchester this summer. For ten weeks Hares of Hampshire will bring thirty-two large hares and forty-two leverets to the streets, parks, galleries and shops of the two cities.
All money raised by donations and by the auction of the hares at the end of the summer will go to the Murray Parish Trust.

Last night I picked up these cupcakes from the bakery made especially for Rusty and the celebration of his splint removal today. We're giving them to our vet & techs for doing such a great job every week when we took him in.
It's been a long hard four weeks but we are almost done [ his appt is when we get back from Jasmine's morning hike]. I will probably take a few pics at the vet clinic and post later.
These cupcakes have "toppers" which are hardened icing so they can be shaped and are totally edible.

Rusty Old Windmill that will soon be gone when they clear this farm for a housing development:( I wonder if it would fit in my backyard?

Added a higher contrast black and white copy layer with a 20% gaussian blur, multiplied, and lightened the shadows in the background layer, and bumped up the saturation. I set opacity to 75%.
