Rusty Pelican is a fine restaurant on Key Biscayne and has the most beautiful view of downtown Miami. if you are sitting there dinning you will also enjoy full views of Miami skyline. but what i like about this restaurant is that management will never stop photographers to take photos. i hate when you are trying to take some photos and people / cops jump on you like you are stealing something . have a wonderful day my friends. I think this might be the Rusty Banksia (Banksia oblongifolia). Such a gorgeous flower! [Castlereagh Nature Reserve, NSW]

I believe this is a rusty blackbird. There was a flock of 15 to 20 feeding together.

Rusty remnants.

Rusty remnants of the past are the reminders of when this jetty was once filled with life and men toiled hard, most likely under difficult circumstances to keep the wheels of industry moving.

This is a real rust belt, something the US is making ever more famous My earlier reverse view "Snowy sidings," shows the snow sculpting at the rail yard better, but I worked on this so that it would pop better. There are few traces other than texture showing in the new snow fall. I had at this point, managed to keep my foot prints from the scene although eDDie begs to differ; I was all over the place. Here, under their snowy blanket, lie the tracks of the first rails to a Boulder area pioneer town. The early narrow gauge rails penetrated the Boulder foothills in the background. It looks like trouble over the divide. Several sidings are under the newly fallen snow. The line followed the early stage line through Valmont on Boulder Creek into Boulder. Originally, this was the Boulder Valley branch of the Union Pacific. There is no chance I could get run over standing here, it's exempt and carries no traffic. Shrubs and rushes have encroached on the Valmont grade in the distance back toward Erie (coal fields) and Boulder, although a slot is still visible through the trees. I suppose that the coal field connection just to the east had a role in early decisions.

Longmont was hopping mad that the first rails headed for Valmont and then Boulder City, four miles west of here, instead of them. Longmont ponied up to start their own rails into town as seen in one of the comments below. The lines delivered coal before daDDy Koch was even born to grab his slice from the clean environment. The disappearing agricultural town and travel stop of Valmont was here; agriculture around Longmont continued to grow. The old stage route into Valmont and Boulder coursed through here. This must have been a busy route when the stage had to start competing with the new rail route. Of course, riders had to ante up an extra 20 cents to get from Valmont to Boulder. Rails were extended up Boulder Canyon into the foothills to Eldora and Ward mining camps. The Colorado & Northwestern continued up Boulder Canyon above Boulder City. When reorganized, it became the Denver, Boulder & Northwestern. The foothills created a bundle of problems so railroaders switched from standard to narrow gauge construction.

The siding ahead shows dual, standard and narrow, gauge trackage. The Union Pacific car on the left is a panel car. It was simply a repurposed gondola while the other flat car included a tool bunk. Panels were actually rail sections prespiked to ties. Now that is what Sheldon and his OCD crowd would call Snap Track for modeling their toy train sets.

See some of my other Valmont images. The Valmont stage station is just north. I caught several shots of Valmont, Four Mile Farm and the old stage stop in the snow. Valmont Butte rises to the left. The stage stop is to my right and Four Mile farm is somewhat further.

Rusty has very little to no control of his tongue haha. It usually just sticks out of his mouth and flops around. Rusty and Cherry came over for a playdate yesterday afternoon and I quickly took a few shots although the lighting wasnt good because it was very late afternoon.

Sorry I havent been on as much, been so busy with work and exams but it's holidays now and I'm really to just chill out.

Have a great day :)

Voiture ancienne rongée par la rouille

it was so cool i mean really

This image is partly what represents to me the religion taken to extrems, since it has happened with the catholicism, and some other branches of the christianity, in many western countries. A kind of old symbol, of former banner, oxidized and rusty, without any capacity of variation or adjustment to the new times, and surrounded by a dark, oppressive and claustrophobic environment.

This way it was the catholic religion in Spain until only 30 years ago. Unfortunately Spain has a long and famous history for being probably the country that has carried out a more radical expansion and defense of the catholic religion up to the last limits of the world, being its zenith the dominion of the Inquisition in the XVth, XVIth and XVIIth centuries. Really, nowadays The Church continues having a total power to economic and political level, but they have been subtler in hishandling.

Is a sad matter the amount of peopple through that there have lived oppresseds, punishing and repressing themselves, for bearing in mind a dark version of the religion, when actually if it was well understood and studied, it might be a good source of learning and interior growth, more to philosophical and metaphysical level, that in the mere need to have to be grateful for someone for his gifts, or of obeying a superior force.

Hopefully some day the religion takes place that it is deserved, as element of self-knowledge, and not as tool of oppression, fear and power.

Said all that, witness stays that I am atheistic (or probably be rather an agnostic).
