Looking through the flycatcher section of the Birds of Brazil field guide yields a large group of similar looking birds with the general pattern and colors of this Rusty-margined Flycatcher. The differences can be pretty subtle but if you look close this bird has the small beak similar to a Social Flycatcher but some rusty coloration on the primaries and secondaries.

Yardley Yoplait ... with one of my Dad's knick-knacks. He loved photography, miniatures, toys, and yes, that is a replica of his beloved golden-fur cat, named RUSTY.

This is a Rusty Blackbird walking down the beach to find food. Thankful my friends told me about a few of them were around. Don't see them very often, only in migration and yet, not every year.

This morning Rusty finished off the meds he got from the vet one week ago and he is finally 100% again. Me? Not so much. Also one week ago, I tested positive for covid - first time in 3 years. I keep hearing people say how it’s mild for people who are vaccinated, but that’s not how it’s gone down for me. Today I finally took a day off from working from home so I could get some real rest. And Rusty has been right there with me, sleeping on the couch beside me while I pray this virus will go away soon.

These black behemoths used to run freely on South Africa's railroad system.
Now their wheels, once shiny, are rusty as these once proud locomotives have been silenced forever.

There's an antique/yard ornament shop in Lucketts, Virginia, not too far from Leesburg. I believe the American Pickers dudes have done a segment there. Anyway, the shop has a yard full of things like this (I'm not even sure what these are, or what you'd do with them if you bought them), and boy howdy do I love rusty things.
Day 267/365 - Rusty
Found this gem on my walk this morning. Took a different route, and was glad I did!
These are not as common as the Brewer’s Blackbird. They nest in trees near bogs in boreal forests. Adult non-breeding males and females are easy to distinguish from Brewer’s blackbirds by the rusty color which gives them their name. The adult breeding males of both species are very similar in appearance. The Brewer’s Blackbird male has a more glossy appearance overall and has a thicker bill. Rusty Blackbirds though are seldom seen foraging in open fields like Brewer’s Blackbirds. They prefer forested swampy areas. This is the situation in which I found this female.
