Rusty ring and pebbles on Selsey beach.

Lissie, Tx. Grain Company; While riding hwy. 90 back roads the other day, I ran upon this rusty old thing. I imagined at one time, this was a thriving business in this little community? But now it's out of business and replaced down the road with a bigger modern facility. Jobs lost her but gained down the road. I love anything with rust attached to it. Combined with a beautiful blue sky with puffy white clouds, I thought it what a perfect shot. Hope you enjoy too.

...just doing what Rusty Blackbirds do.

Actually, Rusty loves all seasons, even those hot summer days where he has to seek shade. Me? I am looking forward to those hot days!

I love all of the colors that come out in fall!! Hard to imagine it was 90 degrees here today! Not like fall weather at all!!

I took these at the pond just down the street from me. I was super excited to find two Rusty Blackbirds there!

Thanks for your visits and comments. They are all greatly appreciated!

I am always excited when I find this species.

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology the Rusty Blackbird is one of North America’s most rapidly declining species. The population has plunged an estimated 85-99 percent over the past forty years and scientists are completely puzzled as to what is the cause. They are relatively uncommon denizens of wooded swamps, breeding in the boreal forest and wintering in the eastern U.S. In winter, they travel in small flocks and are identified by their distinctive rusty feather edges and pallid yellow eyes. I posted two views of this one. There were about 20 in the area.

Rusty

Cute and cuddly, as much as an vintage flash light dog can possibly be. Rusty, due to his solid, aluminum body, will in fact not rust! So let him play in the sprinklers, dive for crabs and drink his fill...no-corrosive has never been so darn cute.

Not sure if it was eating a seed or had found a small mollusk.

Near Otisville, NY.

Despite the name "rose" (in German "Alpenrose") it is actually rhododendron.

An abandoned cotton spinning mill somewhere in Wales. Abandoned for some time, not sure on the history behind it. Visited with Wiffsmiff23. Ended up doing some obscure macro work as part of the visit too.
