Replacing the tail light on my 2012 Mazda 3. For someone with no demonstrable mechanical skills, it was a modest achievement... particularly since the replacement part didn't come with instructions. Finding my way into the backside of the trunk was quite an adventure (and I cracked one of the plastic tacks before figuring out how they worked).

replaced soy milk with soy nog out of laziness [not wanting to go to the store] and they were AMAZING. definitely making that again...

Inspired by Richard Mosse (uses a specialist film to reveal a part of the light spectrum that changes some of the colours, most prominently greens change to red or dark pink / Kodak Aerochrome Infrared Film) and David Keochkerian (uses photoshop to replace the colours by hand) for their use of alternative colours.

Acts 1:12-14 (ANIV)

Metthias chosen to replace Judas

12 Then they [the Apostles] returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk [1] from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

That is, about .75 miles (about 1,100 metres).

DRAWING NOTES:

TIME OF DAY:

Not specified in Bible. I have set this scene in the early afternoon.

LIGHTING NOTES:

The sun is high in the sky, behind the viewer.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:

A crowd of people walking through the gateway, either going out into the surrounding countryside, or coming in to the city of Jerusalem. This influx of people includes the 11 disciples/apostles coming back from the Mount of Olives.

Simon/Peter, Andrew, James (son of Zebedee), John (son of Zebedee), Bartholomew/Nathaniel, James/Cleopas (son of Alphaeus), Matthew/Levi, Philip, Simon the zealot, Thaddeus/Judas (son of James), Thomas/Didymus. See scene below for who’s who in this scene.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:

This scene shows people (including Jesus’ apostles) passing through the East Gate in the wall of Jerusalem. In the background is the Mount of Olives. We can only see one of the two huge iron bound wooden gates that can be securely locked to keep out invaders.

There are two versions of this scene:

01) (Previous page) Acts 01 - Matthias replaces Judas - Scene 01 - Apostles return to Jerusalem (Version 01). In this version strong yellow sunlight coming from high above illuminates the figures closest to the viewer. Strong shadows from the walls above the gate occur across most of the figures.

02) (This page) Acts 01 - Matthias replaces Judas - Scene 01 - Apostles return to Jerusalem (Version 02). In this version I have omitted the strong sunlight & shadows, so that more of the figures clothing & skin colourations can be seen.

A World War Two 4.7 inch Coastal Battery, Pillboxes and Spigot Mortars remain in this location and are centered round TG-3750 3175 it was constructed in the late 1940's to replace the original 6 inch Coastal Battery to the southeast of Happisburgh village. There are two extant rectangular Gun Houses, these were camouflaged with 'thatched roofs' to disguise them as haystacks. There is some access from the left Gun House to the underground complex which was added after 1953, this is via a short brick hooded staircase, most of which is now inaccessible due to flooding and mud slides blocking access. There is another Entrance for a different section, but not for someone of my stature !

In between the Gun Houses there was a low square structure, with a seaward facing observation slit. A two storey structure positioned to the southeast of the Gun Houses at TG-37595 31665 was probably the Battery Observation Post and was disguised as a civilian building. The Coastal Battery's two Coastal Artillery Searchlights were positioned in concrete housings at TG-37280 32010 and TG-37675 31645. These were recessed into the cliff top with a channel leading 30ft up to the cliffs edge. At the landward end of the channel there was a structure, which presumably housed the Searchlight when not in use. The southeastern Searchlight Housing was partly camouflaged with an earth bank or netting. Other buildings associated with the Coastal Battery were located along field boundaries to its south around TG-3739 3164.

The Coastal Battery was surrounded by a rectangular Barbed Wire Enclosure which extended from the cliff top for up to 260ft inland between TG-37430 31870 and TG-37640 31690, an outer Barbed Wire circuit included the Coastal Searchlights and ancillary buildings. This formed an irregular polygon meeting the cliff top at TG-37240 32040 and TG-37700 31640 and extending for almost 1,000ft inland. The outer circuit was Defended with three hexagonal Type-27 Pillboxes, one of which survives at the former road entrance to the site, the other two were located at TG-37290 31900 and TG-37670 31435. A Type-22 Pillbox still survives, it's located to the rear of the Gun Hhouses at TG-37450 31735. Weapons pits and other small Gun Emplacements were located inside and around the Barbed Wire Enclosure. The original positions of the Spigot Mortar Pedestals which survive at the site are not clear.

By 1943 additional lines of Barbed Wire had been placed at TG-37670 31360, TG-37590 31580 and TG-37700 31550 and that along the southwest perimeter replaced by a new line which curved around the extant pillbox. A 165ft long Slit Trench had also been constructed to the southeast of the southeastern Gun House by that date. By 1946 new Barbed Wire had been placed in a curving line along the cliff top, presumably to replace earlier lines lost to erosion. Two additional lines of Barbed Wire had also been placed 130ft to the northwest and southeast of the Gun Houses extending back from the cliff top. Extant remains are limited to a small area around the Gun Houses.

Later during the Cold War era the Royal Observer Corps used the site between 1960 and 1968, the Type-22 Pillbox had a concrete Observation Post mounted on the roof, the base can still be seen, but the Orlit Post that was also built but has been demolished since.

Tho I must admit I am having a very hard time with the N80, in terms of connecting to send email. It constantly fails to connect to any of my now wide open WiFi acces points, even thought I have set them as "Access points", and even sending via my mobile service provider's GPRS simply fails silently. All emails just sit in the Outbox market as "Queued"... and never get out. :(

The recently replaced black greater and median coverts indicate that this is an immature male, and only Rose-breasteds complete their prebasic molt on the summer grounds. Further, while Rose-breasteds can have maxillas as dark as that of Black-headeds in the fall, the maxilla on this bird is pink.
