I sold my soul and used the money to buy a used 5th generation 80gb ipod for pretty cheap. I run rockbox on it (rockbox.org), which is awesome. Unfortunately the battery stopped holding a charge. Replacement cost me about $30 NZD and came with a tool for opening up the ipod.
Marines with Infantry Training Battalion boresight the M64 A1 sight unit for the M224 60 mm Light Weight Mortar system at the mortar range aboard Camp Pendleton July 21. The training provided hands-on experience with the new system which replaces the World War II era M2 Mortar and M119 Mortar.

This project is replacing the old Lesner Bridge with a signature facility that is capable of handling six lanes of traffic in the future. The replacement bridge structure will be striped for two lanes of traffic and wide shoulders. The inside lane will be 12 feet wide and the inside shoulder will be 6 feet wide. The outside lane will be 14 feet wide and the outside shoulder will be 8 feet wide. Each bridge will also have a 10 foot wide multi-use path for use by pedestrians and recreational cyclists. The proposed bridge will be designed to provide minimum 45 feet vertical clearance above mean high water and 225 feet minimum horizontal clearance at center navigation channel span. This project also includes upgrades to the intersections of East Stratford Street and Vista Circle (the termini for the project), as well as aesthetic upgrades within the project limits.

Newly carved reproduction stonework replacing damaged medieval carvings - beautifully done!
Lincoln Cathedral is the third largest in England (after Saint Paul's and York Minster). Construction began in 1088 and continued in phases throughout the Middle Ages. It was reputed to be the tallest structure in the world for 238 years from 1311 until 1549 when the 160m central spire collapsed and was not rebuilt. I particularly liked the fantastically carved western façade and the 12th century baptismal font carved from Tournai ‘marble’, a black limestone from Belgium.
The British-designed replacements for the outclassed Meteor and Vampire fighters were suffering many development problems, and the appearance early in the Korean War (1950 to 1953) of the Soviet MiG-15 forced the Royal Air Force to acquire the North American Sabre.
At a critical time in East/West relations, with no other Western jet able to combat the MiG-15, the United States of America supplied the Royal Air Force with 430 high-performance, swept-wing Sabre fighters.
The Royal Air Force’s Sabres were built in Canada and most were based in Germany as part of NATO’s 2nd Allied Tactical Air Force. The Royal Air Force actually had some experience of the type before it was introduced into service as a small number of British pilots flew with the Americans in Korea. A number of MiG-15 aircraft were shot down by these Royal Air Force pilots. Most pilots found the Sabre a delight to fly and many expressed disappointment when they were replaced by the Swift and early marks of the Hunter.
In the spring of 1955 the first Hunters began to arrive in Germany, completely replacing Sabres by June 1956. The Sabres were returned to the Americans who passed them on to the Italian and Yugoslav Air Forces.
Tram tracks have a very limited number of years they can live. Contrary to most railway tracks, the changing of them is not easily done, as they are embedded into the street.
So this week the part between Goldbrunnenplatz and Gutstrasse is being replaced. Which means that they have around 48 hours to rip the old ones out, level the place again, put in the new drainage and install the new rails and start fixing them to the ground.
So it is a masterpiece of planning to get all the work done at the right point in time.

In the late 1960s, Kodak improved their Instamatic camera line by replacing the individual flashbulb technology (used on early Instamatics) with the Flashcube. Flashcubes consisted of four electrically fired flashbulbs with an integral reflector in a cube-shaped arrangement that allowed taking four images in a row. The flashcube automatically rotated 90 degrees to a fresh bulb upon advancing the film to the next exposure.

Strip light above softened with a tissue, base is foil, HDR then slight increase in contrast and saturation.
Not happy with the clarity, I still have much to learn to get a sharp image.

The road surface was replaced in our neighborhood area during the pandemic COVID-19. This is what I saw them doing. A deposed truck drove in front of the road breaker truck. The road breaker truck crushed the old asphalt surface, and suck it through a channel dropping it to the deposed truck. A shovel track cleared up all debris. A sweeping truck made groves on the road.
The roller truck pressed down and leveling the surface. An asphalt pavers truck was laying asphalt on the road. After all, we have a new surface road.
Asphalt is obtained either as a residue from the distillation of petroleum or from natural deposits. The use of asphalt is very old, dating back to its use as a water stop between brick walls of a reservoir at Mohenjo-Daro (about the 3rd millennium BC) in Pakistan. In the Middle East it was extensively used for paving roads and sealing waterworks, important applications

It was located on the 5 mile long branch line from Killin Junction on the Callander and Oban railway, to nearby Loch Tay, 0pened on 1 April 1886, the station comprised a single platform on the west side of the line. There were also three sidings on the same side.
This station was officially closed on 1 November 1965, although following the Glen Ogle landslide on 27 September 1965, the service was suspended and replaced by buses until the official closure.
