They replaced the old sign several months ago, which Yesco had recently repaired. Why do you suppose they would replace a perfectly good neon sign with a back-lit monstrosity like this...? - I suppose they wanted to modernize the place, and I can't fault them for that. But leave the damn sign alone! - Too late now I guess.

12 Then they [the Apostles] returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk [1] from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
A crowd of people walking through the gateway, either going out into the surrounding countryside, or coming in to the city of Jerusalem. This influx of people includes the 11 disciples/apostles coming back from the Mount of Olives.
Simon/Peter, Andrew, James (son of Zebedee), John (son of Zebedee), Bartholomew/Nathaniel, James/Cleopas (son of Alphaeus), Matthew/Levi, Philip, Simon the zealot, Thaddeus/Judas (son of James), Thomas/Didymus. See scene below for who’s who in this scene.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows people (including Jesus’ apostles) passing through the East Gate in the wall of Jerusalem. In the background is the Mount of Olives. We can only see one of the two huge iron bound wooden gates that can be securely locked to keep out invaders.

01) (Previous page) Acts 01 - Matthias replaces Judas - Scene 01 - Apostles return to Jerusalem (Version 01). In this version strong yellow sunlight coming from high above illuminates the figures closest to the viewer. Strong shadows from the walls above the gate occur across most of the figures.
02) (This page) Acts 01 - Matthias replaces Judas - Scene 01 - Apostles return to Jerusalem (Version 02). In this version I have omitted the strong sunlight & shadows, so that more of the figures clothing & skin colourations can be seen.

Last Friday night I was in a heat with three black Slashes with the same paint job and the number "47" on them. It's not a problem keeping track of which is which... until we crash! I decided to pull the stickers off of the roof and put down a Tower sticker (the Git client I use on the Mac every day). I'm a geek for putting a programmer-centric sticker on the truck but it'll certainly be easier to tell apart.

Bumper and top repainted, not sure wether I want to replace the VW logo on the front, or put the spare tire carrier there....pros and cons to both...need to replace the pop-top and luggage rack seals. I bought all of the parts to replace the entire brake system, that needs to be done asap.

Built in 1862-1895, this Byzantine Revival-style Greek Orthodox Cathedral is dedicated to St. Menas, the patron saint of Heraklion, and replaced an older, smaller church next door. The church’s construction was interrupted by the Cretan Revolt of 1866-1869, an attempted revolt of the predominately Greek population of Crete against Ottoman rule, which resulted in an Ottoman victory and a period of economic fallout from the conflict. The church was completed on the eve of the Cretan insurrection, which resulted in the independence of Crete in 1898, which became unified with Greece in 1908 and was formally recognized internationally as part of Greece in 1913, after the First Balkan War. The church is clad in stucco with marble accents, including quoins, decorative trim surrounds at the windows, marble balustrades, marble cornices with brackets, a marble base, and marble columns, with a red terra cotta tile roof, a dome at the crossing of the naves and transept, half-domes above the apses on the rear facade, and two campaniles at one end of the church, both of which feature clock faces. The church’s interior features decorative murals, tile floors, roman arched stained glass windows, stone trim, decorative woodwork, vaulted ceilings in the sanctuary and narthex, decorative stone columns, and a beautiful stone altar. The church today is the largest and principal Greek Orthodox Church of the island of Crete, and stands on a large plaza in the city center of Heraklion.
Tho I must admit I am having a very hard time with the N80, in terms of connecting to send email. It constantly fails to connect to any of my now wide open WiFi acces points, even thought I have set them as "Access points", and even sending via my mobile service provider's GPRS simply fails silently. All emails just sit in the Outbox market as "Queued"... and never get out. :(

Pima Air and Space Museum
The Beechcraft Starship is one of the most technologically-advanced aircraft of its type. Designed in 1982 by well known aircraft designer Burt Rutan’s Scaled Composites, the Starship is the first all-composite pressurized business class aircraft. The design featured a variable sweep forward wing or “canard”, an all glass cockpit in which traditional instruments are replaced by computer screens, and two rear mounted pusher turboprop engines. Rutan’s company built an 85% scale proof of concept aircraft while Beechcraft began design of the full-scale prototype. While Rutan’s concept plane flew in 1983, the full-size aircraft suffered from production delays, design changes, and other problems that pushed its first flight to March 1986. Production of the Starship began in 1988 and a total of 53 were built by 1995 when production was halted. Despite its revolutionary design, the Starship was a commercial failure. Many of the aircraft never found buyers and were leased out by Raytheon, which had bought Beechcraft during the design of the Starship. By 2004, only two or three Starships continued to fly, the rest having been consigned to the scrap yard or museums.
