I did slip in one reflection shot during the parade yesterday :)

Dream Lake is the second of 3 lakes on our hike in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. I was so pleased the wind calmed down enough for me to get my reflection shot I traveled two days a and hiked a couple miles for!

My friend sprayed some water from a bottle while I took pictures to get the ripples. And we all know how much DM loves a good reflection shot.

Yep, this is the hood from the earlier reflection shot. :-)

Here is the moon reflection at the Old Pinawa Dam

Note the reflection of a former Woolworth's store in the window!

An early morning reflection shot taken in Alviso last week.

Thanks for stopping by!

I took these photos on the second day of the Carnevale in Venice, Italy, in February 2011. A lot of the models, mostly French and German, met at the Arsenale in the morning to shoot with a number of photographers. What a great day to shoot - clear and sunny but pretty windy too. This was a great chance to shoot with the masked characters without a lot of people in the shots.

...taken at dusk as we drove back from a lovely afternoon at Westonbirt. Can't resist a good reflection shot! :-)

Trying a little light painting on a long exposure reflection shot

This started off as a sweet pea. I desaturated it, applied Kyoto Color to the remaining 10 percent of saturated color, then added a layer of texture using the lake reflection shot I posted yesterday.

The final version, after a year of messing around with it, here I finally have it where I want it, the definitive version of the best reflection shot I have yet gotten.

I freely admit to using Fred Miranda's Velvia vision to help me balance the contrast saturation well enough to bring out the real image.

A reflection shot taken out side a certain office block in Huddersfield.

I headed into town as the rain was tapering off in the hopes of getting some interesting reflection shots. I completely forgot that the town in question was Consort and that any sort of 'interesting' hasn't been in vogue there since the sixties. (Note to the locals: Would it kill you to have some lights -- ANY LIGHTS -- illuminating the exterior of your buildings on main street?!?)

On the bright side, I did have a young female student call me a 'pervert' for 'videoing' the school and threaten to call the cops if I didn't leave, so I can claim to have experienced a bit of excitement while in town.

A bunch of flustered teens were bunched up inside the doors anxiously waiting for me and my little camera to skedaddle. Too bad I had to take my time. ;-)

First wear of these today... Found a nice big shallow puddle to try out a reflection shot

These reflection shots I took are my favorite!

No major events planned in Venice on this day so I spent the day wandering around the Piazza di San Marco. Great people watching and a lot of cool costumes. What a great experience!

I took these photos on the 4th day of the 2011 Carnevale, Wednesday, 2 March 2011.

My reflection shot didn't work out as planned. Drove a long way to find out the water was still frozen there. Still a nice night anyhow. :)

This man made pool [not quite sure why it's there] next to a ruined cottage provides a great opportunity to get a reflection shot of the north Glenfarg Viaduct.

The reflection shot in vermilion lake area looks like chinese watercolor paintings on a cloudy day like this.

Here's the standard tea kettle reflection shot. Clearly, I'm bored. I should have turned all the burners of the stove on full blast, but probably would have burned off the remainder of my hair. Looking for a new camera, thinking of the Nikon D80 at the moment.

The view from "Top Of The Mark", with a few annoying window reflections. Shot hand-held, so it's not the sharpest photo.

A walk on the northern end of Central Park on 09.18.16 the Harlem Meer up to The Reservoir. No exploding sunset colors that day but the water was so calm and I got lots of reflection shots.

I also checked out some buildings along Fifth Avenue across the park.

Taken Brownsea Island, Dorset. Excellent weather conditions found the wildfowl showing very well from the hides managed by Dorset Wildlife Trust. Slight winds and good sunlight provided some excellent opportunities for some reflection shots as the wildfowl fed in the shallow lagoon. (Second set)

I've been meaning to buy a peice of black plexiglas to get some reflection shots of macro subjects. It's just not the same using normal glass and a black cloth underneath as you get a double reflection from both surfaces of hte glass. I took the black cloth out for this and made it an extreme macro instead.

The surface tension of the water drop with the tips of the pencil leads in gives an interesting effect. You can also see the reflection of the MR14-EX ring flash in the water drop too. One other thing you can notice is the change in colour and bulge of the right two leads where they have absorbed water.

A walk through Liverpool city centre and some street photography on our way to our anniversary meal on 7 January 2025.

Taken yesterday at the chalk art festival downtown. The artist (Mythica) loves reflection shots. I think it's only fitting to have a reflection shot using the artist as a "model". I also like promoting the sponsor (Rocket Fizz) as the owner decided to hang one of my prints up in their shop in Larimer Square. Sponsorship is really a necessity as I heard the average chalk art piece uses about $500 worth of chalk.

I clearly need to buy myself at least one silver shiny Christmas ornament, because I've wanted to take a shot like this since I saw only 85 billion other people on flickr post shots like this. I am nothing if not a sheep when it comes to really fun (albeit cliched by now) photos, especially at the holidays. This one is hanging on Amy and Garrison's tree, and I took this in the middle of a really fun day hanging out with the two of them and their ridiculously adorable three month old, Emily.

And! It's also a shot for Scavenger Hunt 101, #98, your favorite article of clothing. That snowflake sweater is not only the coziest thing I own right now, but it is also presentable enough to wear to work and hanging out with friends, and I always feel put together when I wear it. Since I've been putting this Scavenger Hunt item off simply because I was having trouble answering the question of what *is* my favorite article of clothing, this will work AND be festive at the same time!

Window reflection shots have always interested me. Something in the juxtaposition of scenes against each other is always pretty interesting. Trouble is you have to be pretty careful how you expose them as well as compose them. Its important to get any interior details caught in the darker areas of the reflection. The aperture also plays a large roll in how things turn out as you have to gauge how distracting you want the reflection to be. I have always wanted to shoot more of these kinds of shots yet I never seem to put enough thought into finding them so when I saw the result of this I'll admit I was pretty happy.

Polo Grounds (Closed)

I stopped off at Blue Heron on the way from Taylor while Eddie drove on into Braley. I wanted to look at the Blue Heron pond to see if the reflection shot would work. This old shed was pretty darn shady as I walked by and caught me eye next. The green crept up on it since I last walked by. Braley always serves up something new especially at different spans of the day. The green shade caught my eye on the way over to where I knew Eddie would be standing in the barn admiring the red tile silo holding down the same dirt he usually does. Important dirt I suppose. I'd better not step in it or the pigeon doo-doo mixed in. Breathe carefully around the pigeon dirt... or Eddie for that matter! The barn remains posted... as if that mattered. Ta-ta shed and off to see if Eddie might have moved... what are the odds? Nope! Same Eddie - same dirt. Oh well cheat at cards \ poaching other images (like eggs) is all fair game!

I found Eddie, imagine where? Is this red tile silo shot a tribute to Eddie? I don't think that this critter is going to be able to make a getaway. Plum tree or Eddie! Either way here it is and as wide as I can crank the mid-range 24-70 zoom. It looks like the ol' plum tree is plumb eaten up by bugs. Eddie keeps threatening to prune it down pretty good! ...And do prunes come come from plums? Eddie surely knows, considering the resemblance to the former. Damn good thing that I retrieved the tripod yesterday!

Question? Would Eddie kill me is I posted a couple more? Probably. He seems to be getting a tad testy lately.

Another reflection shot with Susan's sunglasses. Guess I'm fixated on this kind of photo right now.

View from the top of the hill in the Rydal Water reflection shot I posted earlier. The main body of water is Rydal and the section higher up on the left in Grasmere.
