I used select color to slide this very cool reflection shot - HSS!

Totally still River Thames, enabling this reflection shot to be taken. The ExCeL Centre is on the right.

PLEASE VIEW THIS LARGE!!

I took this image this morning and for me this is one of my favourite reflection shot of this place, gorgeous colours and the morning was very calm! You can just about see Dartford power station through the reeds on the left hand side bit of a distraction but nothing could be done about it!

"Rise"

I don't always photograph stratovolcano's, but when I do I wake up at 5am to get a pure reflection shot while the sun crests over the surrounding cascade mountains in the Pacific Northwest. Not one other soul was there when I took this image. They say you have about a 30% chance to see Mt Rainier when you visit. Here's to the 30%.

I thought I would end this week with my one of my own personal favourite from the series of reflection shot!

The top half is the original and the rest is obviously photoshopped but I feel that this is more the direction that I am heading for, making my photography more of an art form than just a straightforward image, some of you may not care for this type of vision but please let me know what you think?

PLEASE VIEW LARGE!!

I thought I would save this little Gem for the end of the week, taken on the same morning as the previous reflection shots but with this one I had to lay on the ground and zoon right in along the water to get this, worth it though!

* I cannot pretend these buildings that stand alongside the canal system in Lowell Massachusetts are particularly attractive . However they did give me the opportunity to take some reflection shots that I think turned out fairly well

One of the structures that is quite interesting the low yellow structure in the centre. This is the Lower Locks Dam Gatehouse which was built about 1830 . The Lower Locks are the last on the Pawtucket Canal, and boats passing through them end up on the Concord River. Lowell has about six miles of canals linked to the Merrimack and Concord rivers . The canals were created to provide water power to the Cotton mills rather than just for transportation

Our first visit to this part of the Shropshire Union Canal, with some nice sunshine and not too much breeze there were plenty of reflection shots available

Taken over my favourite place the Crayford marshes what it was flooded! This will be my last one of this series of reflection shots, it was a morning that I will never forget and it will probably never be equaled, I hope you all enjoyed them as much as I witnessed it happening in front of my eyes and recording the events!

An unusually quiet morning at Bosham. The fog was just starting to lift and the water was very still so a reflection shot beckoned.

Here's a reflection shot in the twilight.

Returned from a 10 day trip to Grand Teton National Park and a return visit to Yellowstone to cover the area that we did not get to see in June.

Even though this is not the traditional reflection shot of Mt. Moran, I liked the fall colors being lit up by the sun.

Captured this shot at Stirling bridge. I had actually been on the bridge photographing the Wallace monument when I saw how still the water was below and knew along with the combination of the sun that it was ripe to catch a reflection shot. I still captured the Wallace monument in the background as well to the far right of the bridge which was a bonus. Looking at this beautiful image it is hard to believe that it was the site of a bloody battle and one of William Wallace's greatest defeats of the English.

An excellent place for decent reflection shots, IMHO.

I was blessed with calm waters and a good mix of clouds and blues this lovely morning.

"The lakes surface elevation is 6,489 feet (1,978 m) above sea level, and is about a mile (1.6 km) downstream from the significantly larger Redfish Lake (6,547 feet (1,996 m)). Both were named for the red-scaled sockeye salmon that returned every year to spawn via the Salmon River. The lakes flow into the river via Redfish Lake Creek."

Enjoy a wonderful Sunday!

Reflection shot. Suggestions for a title welcome... i just can't think of another reflection pun!

Just an experiment to try to learn how to do water reflections. Shot at the Mynt Sandbox with pieces from the Studio Skye enchanted forest set.

Whenever you get some great light at Norbury junction you are always in for some stunning reflection shots on the Shropshire Union Canal

Thanks so much Scott, for your wonderful testimonial! I appreciate your kind words specially about my flower shots! So here is another one for you :-))

Scott is a great friend and he has the most amazing reflection shots you'll ever see! Please do take out the time to check out his great photostream here!

Simon Benson was a lumber magnate, philanthropist, and one of the principal promoters of the Historic Columbia River Gorge Highway. Located one mile west of Multnomah Falls on I-84 at milepost 30 , picnickers love this park; there's even a disc golf course and a reservable shelter for groups.

Try your luck catching some of the thousands of rainbow trout stocked each month into the lake between March and October. This is a non-motorboat lake, (no boat launch) so it's perfect for rowboats and swimmers.

When the trees start changing color in the fall you can get some great reflection shots. The Columbia River is just across the highway, or further to the left of this image.

Went here to get some lovely reflection shots of the autumn colours on the still waters of the reservoir but it wasn't to be. It was a bit windy at the top which meant the water was choppy and as the reservoir was full this made the water spill over the dam wall which made for some great shots. It was surprising how loud the falling water was also. Rather a privilege to see the water cascading over the top of the dam.

HSS!!

This is the Guadalupe County District Clerks office in Seguin, Texas. It not a great looking place, as Texas prides it's self on great looking courthouses. This one, for sure, will not make the list..:) The only reason I took this shot is because I've been waiting for a long time to take a reflection shot like this after a rain. I didn't really get the reflection I wanted so I had to use Photo Shop

** Perhaps not the most scenic vista but It might be the best reflection shot I have ever taken . No place that I have visited in the States has so reminded me of England than Lowell Massachusetts. When I saw the chimneys, the cotton mills and canals it was like being whisked back to Northern England. The low yellow building on the right is curious and I am not sure what its purpose is , it straddles a weir on the other side the structure the water flows quite rapidly

The mills of Lowell are now in effect museums well managed by the American National Park Service. They do give a good understanding of this city’s industrial past. Lowell went through some difficult years when the Cotton trade closed the problems common to cities whose industrial base is removed .

Earlier I posted an image of what some people believed it was an autumn image (flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/52461326690/in/dateposted/). It however was taken in the beginning of summer. But this one is a real autumn image and it was taken at the same place as the one above, only it is the view to the other side.

"Het Loo" is just a wonderful place if you want to make reflection shots, as also can be seen in this one (flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/52262654849/in/dateposted/).

Enjoy!

A reflection shot in my mini sojourn series "Visiting The Past" . I have decided to post a few of my favorite photographs again as i reckon they deserve a second showing and many of you may have not seen them . Thanks for all your support and much inspiration work !

Image of the Houghton Highway Bridge that connects Redcliffe and Brisbane. During low tide the pools formed at the base of the structure are perfect for reflection shots.

Last one in this series of Wasp reflection shots.

* This might be one of the best reflection shot I have taken. of course thats just my opinion It is a shot the pretty village of Larganol reflected in a bend of the River Lot.

Taken last autumn at Crummock Water. On this occasion, I visited the Lake District after a period of heavy rain, so Crummock Water was a little more full than usual! In fact it was that full that the path that runs along this part of the lake was fully submerged under water and I had to get to this bit by walking along the wall next to the path. My plan was to get some reflection shots of Grasmoor, and I was lucky enough that it was so still!

This beautiful Drake has set up home on my local canal over this winter but unfortunately has no mate to accompany him.

Hopefully he will move on soon and meet a partner.

I went to visit him this morning with the intention of getting a reflection shot as the conditions were overcast and calm and the was my favourite shot of the morning.

Surprise, another reflection shot.....other than my primary focus on mountain peaks reflections seem to catch my attention the most.

Hope you don't get tired of them. I'm thinking of getting into spiders and insects and flowers someday.....

Here's a section of Oregon's fascinating Smith Rock mirrored in calm Crooked River at sunrise.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Thanks for taking a look.

One of those nice evenings on the beach, just me and my camera, not much water to get one of my trademark reflection shots, but the golden sunlight was immense and kissing this boat.

Our extended warm fall days are allowing for more chances at reflection shots. The leaves are mostly gone, but the water picks up the golden-brown tones of the rushes.

My first reflection shot :)

This is perhaps my favorite in a series of images taken a recent morning at the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR in Oceanville, New Jersey. The light and calm winds created an opportunity to get some terrific water reflection shots!

Its no PS. Just a 180 degree rotation of reflection shot

This photo walk in Frankfurt late April felt like the start of the new photo season. Hence, the series starts with this shop window reading "New Life - spring happy".

The images mostly will be street shots of the people of Frankfurt with a few reflection shots thrown in.

Having already taken the reflection shots, what drew my eye to this scene is all the reddish color and texture of the sediment in the foreground underneath the shallow water along the shoreline.

Here's another old shot from last fall. My Dad had been after me for a couple years to get some photos of the autumn colors at Lake Anna. I finally decided to get up one morning and head over, hoping for one of those spectacular sunrises. Unfortunately, nature didn't cooperate, but I like this photo anyway.

This was just before people started boating on the lake that day, so the waters were nice and calm. Just after this, it was boat after boat after boat, so reflection shots weren't possible.

Fortunately, Dad was pleased with this. :)

One of the many beach reflection shots I took at Sandymouth the other week as the clouds were a bit special and the tide was going out nicely.

Another reflection shot from our pond. What I loved about this day was I was only up at the pond about a half an hour but the clouds kept moving so the light and the shadow kept changing and the reflection on the water was so beautiful.

A different type of sunrise and reflection shot, a bit of a romantic view of my world!

The Tridge is located in Midland, Michigan. The three-way arch bridge spans the confluence of the Chippewa and Tittabawasee Rivers. It was too breezy to get a good reflection shot so I went for this pov instead. It was a beautiful day and downtown Midland sports a few good microbreweries, antique shops and the Dow Diamond ballpark. The Great Lakes Loons were playing the Dayton Dragons and I really don't know who won but it was a great night for baseball :)
