I'm forever taking odd reflection shots like this. Most are pretty disappointing but I do quite like this one for its peaceful out-of-focus strangeness.
Find a bridge, set a long exposure time, point the camera down at the river and hold everything as still as you can for the shot. Flip the image upside down and, if you like, tinker with the colours, brightness etc when you get home. That's how it's done.
When game planning things during the stop in Brinkley, I looked at shot in the Stugart area, which I suspected would have water for reflection shots, the Trestle at Humphrey, and then this overhead shot to close things out before Pine Bluff.
With a little bit of luck and some driving that perfectly balanced skill and being a bit nuts, I managed to shoot all 3, with the small note that I only had time for stills at Humphrey. Still, not too bad!

HARS owned and operated DHC-4 Caribou. This photo is actually a 'water reflection' shot. No special image trickery other than to flip the image vertically and horizontally.
A couple walking in Old Montreal. I was hoping to get a cool reflection shot of this couple, but I didn't have much time to set it up and as a result, the sun pretty much dominated the picture. So I decided to edit this one by just messing around with curves. I kind of like it, let me know what you think.
Since my mother recently said she wasn't sure she liked my reflection shots, I thought I'd take more!
This one features the lovely downtown Milwaukee bull, chicken and fish statue, which welcomes patrons to the Mason Street Grill. In the forefront is the George Watts and Son store, a long-time Milwaukee business.
George, the maître d', said the statue doesn't have a name, so perhaps we could try to come up with a name for them!
A walk through Liverpool city centre and some street photography on our way to our anniversary meal on 7 January 2025.
When looking at some of the reflection shots I had taken I began to wonder if Monet and the impressionists had developed their style after sitting lakeside and watching the world through reflections. Sometimes what we see in the mirror is better than what we see in real life.
This is a reflection shot of the Golden Hinde at St Marie Overie's Dock. I've rotated the image by 180 degrees so that it looks upright.
Shot at ISO 200 for 125 seconds at F/11
I would have preferred ISO 100 at F/16 but the exposure calculation was 500 seconds...

From WikiPedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Hinde
The Golden Hind was an English ship best known for its global circumnavigation between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake. It was originally known as the Pelican and was renamed in mid-voyage 1577 by Drake as he prepared to enter the Straits of Magellan. He rechristened the ship the Golden Hind in a political gesture, to compliment his patron, Sir Christopher Hatton, whose armorial crest was a golden hind (in heraldry a "hind" is a doe).
[...]
A modern replica of the same ship was launched in 1973 and has travelled more than 140,000 miles (225 000 km), a distance equal to more than five times around the globe. Like the original, it circumnavigated the world. Since the 1990s it has been berthed at St Mary Overie's Dock, in Bankside, Southwark, London, close to Southwark Cathedral.

This reflection shot was taken in small runoff pool directly adjacent to Alpine Lake. While the lake tended to have some ripples due to wind, this smaller body of water was dead calm.
This was taken during a two day trip up to the Sawtooths with Chuck Knowles. It was a great trip, and by my count, we saw 9 lakes (only photographing 6 of them though), and put in over 20 miles of hiking.
Unedited mobile phone cam picture of me&mobie, reflected on the side of a car. No editing, no tricks, no Photoshop :)
This is a classic 'AmsterS@m' self-reflection shot, before I got heavily involved in puddle reflections, I used to take a lot of these kind of pictures. It's a very simple concept, find a shiny surface, stand in front of it and shoot, still I'm always amazed and surprised by the wicked effects you can create without any editing or using 'magic' software like Photoshop :)
I am not really that fat or short, I bike 20 kilometers every day and often get compliments for my lovely legs, lol ;-D
Have a relaxed Sunday, take care but take it easy!

On October the 4th a new Art exhibition started at the 'ABC Treehouse' in Amsterdam, featuring 10 of my wicked puddle reflections :D

At Cambo in Fife, two bridges stand very close to each other and the quality of light there is usually superb. I could quite happily stand on one bridge for ages taking photos to get strange reflection shots like this of people on the other.

I know this is a bit of repeat - I already got 2 more reflection shots earlier. But this one is special as I tried to capture this in last 3 visits and failed. It was near 'wet' experience in the lake during this shoot as the tripod almost toppled into the water! The peaks from left to right are: Forked Kabru N & S, Kanchenjunga and Simvo peeping from right above the fence.

Isla in silhouette on Par Sands beach. It was such a warm sunny day there and the idea came after Isla photobombed my sea-scape / wet sand reflection shots.
Ever have that feeling that someone is looking over your shoulder? LARGE
Taken on the Houston Ship Channel for my Flickr friend OldVidhead who used to take some splindid reflection shots when the mook struck him.

Just round the corner from the Radcliffe Reflection shot, I think this is the Clarendon Building of the Bodleian reflection in a window of the New Bodleain Building.
Went to get some reflection shots of this beautiful bird, with a portrait and landing for good measure.
Random puddle reflection shot in Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. No editing or magic tricks besides whatever that app did to the picture, no Photoshop :)
I've bitched and complained about this already a lot in the last 3 months, I am currently working 5 instead of my usual 4 days, and this is taking away all the time I usually reserve for shooting pictures and movies, so I have to improvise and take any chance I get to be able to create some photos on my way to the office, or the supermarket, or wherever it is I'm going. This is no fun, and the quality and quantity of my creative output is diminishing on a daily basis, something I don't appreciate and that I intend to reverse as soon as possible. Until then, these quick snap shots will have to do, I hope you're not too upset that you're having to look at these not-so-wicked reflections, lol :D

While I was walking with my sister and Friia, I had a wonderful idea to take some reflection shots...
I found a little pond, but I didn´t find anything what to photograph.
Then my cute little dog, called Friia came next to me and looked me and then the pond...
I think this is my favorite shots in my Flickr photostream

Waiting to be spotted at Seminole Feeds, this billboard car made a nice reflection shot. March 15 2014 1131.
Wanted to get a reflection shot of Castle Ewen and other days a breeze made it impossible. You can just see the suns rays lighting the back of the hill. This an HDR Version, you can see the single shot below in my Photostream. I think this is one occasion that really does make it more realistic and better.

Sadly for me, my camera and lens combination was too powerful to allow me to get many reflection shots - although it was ideal for other subjects. Next time I will make sure I take several options...
Throughout this trip to Disney it seemed that my goal was to get as many shots of an object with their reflection, in a body of water, as possible. This was a quick attempt because everyone was still walking so I tried my best with this popular angle.
