When I spotted some glorious crepuscular rays beaming through the evening sky I didn't need a seconds thought in going out to shoot them and with countless fields full of of hay bales around at the moment I decided to pop along to no mans lane and capture a composition to include everything...

From Death Valley a few weeks ago. Amazing conditions.

Crepuscular rays appear to converge on the sun, anticrepuscular rays converge in the opposite direction and you must have your back to the sun or sunset point to see them. They appear to converge towards the antisolar point, the point on the sky sphere directly opposite the sun.

*************************************************************************************************

but I still haven't found what I'm looking for...

... because they are parallel, or at least as close as one can imagine. The angle between the rays is merely perspective.

Californian redwoods, Beech Forest Victoria.

Like a beacon from Heaven offering hope and guidance to travelers, this single ray of light piercing through ominous storm clouds over the mountains in Western North Carolina was quite the sight to see.

Driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the skies grew darker and I feared I would soon be engulfed with fog and rain clouds.

Then suddenly, a miraculous ray of hope in the distance as I spotted a break in the clouds through which this single beam shone down.

I followed it as it travelled along the ridges, fading in and out.

As I parked at the Cowee Mountains Overlook I surely thought this magical moment would cease. But to my relief, it lingered on long enough for me to capture this image.

This is one of the reasons I love traveling in the Blue Ridge Mountains during stormy weather as you never know what is in store. For me, that is true excitement as a photographer.

Thank you for stopping by to look, and may the light be ever in your favor!

Not Deacon Ray.

A while back, I had a conversation with a retired chief officer about white lights not being allowed in California. They still pop up from time to time. I think Sunnyvale had them on some fire engines at one time, but they're peace officers so no one's going to hassle them.

Le summum des coucher de soleil que j'ai vécue à L'Anse-aux-Amérindiens!

Found this spot a few days ago on a very cloudy & misty night & knew that I had to return to get a sunset shot. This was before the sun had set and saw a lovely view of rays! Few more shots from this location to come :)

Crazy amount of rays from the twilight glow of yesterday's intense sunset! A timelapse would have really worked here, but we were all so busy capturing the drama that I forgot about making one till the end.

The undulate ray is a species of ray fish found in the Mediterranean and East Atlantic from southern Ireland and England to the Gulf of Guinea. It is found in areas with mud or sand, and may occur as deep as 200 m, though it prefers shallower depths. It is considered endangered due to over fishing.

Snow & ice covered the ground. Light rays were breaking through the ceiling. Majestic, even after two decades of being abandoned. And perfect only in its dilapidated state. Unconsciously we started whispering. I knew this is a view I won't ever forget.
