The last rays of sunshine on the chimneys, in a style that I find so ubiquitous on the british isles.
Penmon on a late summers sunrise, the rays were exactly like this as they found a hole in the clouds.
I've shot this lighthouse many times but never seemed to have captured decent rays. This time there was just enough vapour in the air to create the haze. Pity about the clouds...
Not sure who was more surprised when Ray turned around. Billy is another one of our neighbour's cats. He never comes into our garden as Smuggly and Sugsy won't allow it. Our own cats aren't that keen on him either. There it is again that old pecking order. Poor Billy is way down the list.
We have a long weekend with a public holiday on Monday. After two really busy weekends away we are not doing anything - just catching up with a few things at home and relaxing.
Happy Furry Friday everyone
Wishing you a relaxing and peaceful weekend

With our trip nearing the end, we have to head to the coast to catch our flight. We decided to spend our last few days in Crescent City before going home. The forecast wasn’t great, but I’ve been having such an amazing luck with weather that I figure we’d chance it, and hope the streak continues.
I got to the trailhead after a big morning rain. The forest was foggy, but I can see a tiny patch of blue sky behind the thick clouds. Just a few minutes after I hit the trail, the sun came out! What followed was 2 minutes of spectacular light show. I had just enough time to put the tripod down, slap the polarizer on the lens, and grab 3 shots. In all 3 shots, the light rays were different. Then as soon as you can say “beautiful”, the sun went away, and that was the last time I saw the sun that day.
A polarizer really helped with this shot. It was able to cut through some of the fog, and the LB Warming polarizer warmed up the scene. We’ll be coming back here one day, the light show here is just too cool.

This is a older photo of an amazing display of light during Hurricane Matthew in 2016. The conditions were crazy that day so most of it was spent driving up and down the parkway with some stops for brief hikes. The late afternoon drive some amazing opportunities. The light rays started as subtle and spread out and then transitioned to defined clusters and the show ended with this last cluster of rays breaking through the storm clouds.

Mornings on this country road always seems to offer up some rays of light. You better have a clean windshield.

The barn, with the brick oven, turned into a magical illuminated place, when the sun rays fell in, and the steam from the oven softened the light.

Beneath the arches of Blackfriars, London unveils another side of itself. Perfect lines, concrete and steel silence, symmetry that borders on the sacred — everything feels just right. Sometimes, all it takes is looking up for the city to begin whispering.

“Everything happens around us, but no one knows how. Everything is before us, but no one sees the source. All together and individually, people appreciate that part of the knowledge that is already known. They do not know how to use the unknown to achieve knowledge with his help. Is this not a delusion? 1. Removes a tool (camera), not a photographer.
2. The choice of tool limits the possibilities.
3. Experience allows him (instrument) less and less to limit their capabilities.
4. The ability to see is given only when the observer allows ...
5. The moment of observation is the real find ...
6. Training and mastering it defies. Training leads to poor imitations of the original.
7. Often the result should ripen, like wine. Although time is the understanding of the mind, therefore it is very speculative.
8. The meaning of all this is the process!

Poor Ray had an abscess on his right ear, so a visit to the vet today was required. He had an antibiotic shot and has to wear the collar for two or three days to let it heal. We'll see how well that goes! I think it may have been Pixie as she is super protective of her kittens and even though the other cats haven't gone anywhere near them, she just keeps chasing and attacking them every time she sees them move..
