"About 335 000 hectare (10%) of the Netherlands is wooded. The percentage of wooded land is not very high compared to countries such as Germany (29%), France (25%) and Belgium (20%). To protect the Dutch forest and to expand it the government has developed a policy, which was laid down in the Forestry Policy Plan. Intentions are to increase the total area under trees by 75 000 ha within the next 25 years, that is by 3 000 ha a year. The increase will be realized by the government and by provinces, local authorities, trade and industry, farmers and private persons. In the Netherlands forests are important for several purposes: recreation, timber production, nature and landscape enjoyment, and they are vital to a sound environment. The use of timber and timber products is increasing in the Netherlands. The major part is imported; only a small portion, less than 10 per cent, of the Dutch demand is produced in the Netherlands. The government is aiming to increase this percentage.Besides a means of production a forest is a bit of nature we have to cherish, for there is not much nature left in the Netherlands. Forests are important in the Dutch plans for nature. Nearly all forest is part of the national ecological network, which is a network of nature areas that are connected by ecological corridors to facilitate the survival of plants and animals."

Сумеречные лучи — название лучей солнечного света, которые проходят через промежутки в облаках или через другие объекты и формируют видимые «световые пучки» или «волны».

Наиболее часто сумеречные лучи возникают при частичном пересечении солнечными лучами некоторых преград, таких как облака, горные вершины или листва деревьев. Есть три первичные формы сумеречных лучей:

- Лучи света, которые проникают через отверстия (просветы) в низких облаках. Также известны как «Лестница Якова»;

- Пучки света (англ. Beams of light), отклоняющиеся позади облаков.

- Бледные, розоватые или красноватые лучи, которые исходят из точки ниже горизонта. Они часто ошибочно принимаются за световые (солнечные) столбы (англ. light pillars).

Сумеречные лучи обычно имеют красный или жёлтый оттенок, так как химические вещества в атмосфере рассеивают коротковолновые лучи (синий и зелёный цвет) намного лучше, чем длинноволновые (красный и жёлтый цвет).

Солнечные лучи распространяются по прямым линиям, однако из-за проекции этих линий на земную сферу они выглядят веерообразно.

Another of my sunsets along the river Thames at Erith, it was such a fabulous and beautiful evening . Just a short time from home.

It is all a bit of a hit and miss affair when you are taking shots like this because you are not to sure how the rays are going to come out!

Un rayo rebelde. Como rebeldes debemos ser los fotógrafos revelándonos siempre contra lo establecido, buscando siempre algo que llame la atención al espectador. O al menos intentarlo. El día que creas que ya lo has conseguido todo, estás muerto como fotógrafo. De ahí lo apasionante de esta afición. Los lugares serán limitados, pero las posibilidades, infinitas.

The Abbey of Sant'Antimo, Italian: Abbazia di Sant'Antimo, is a former Benedictine monastery in the comune of Montalcino, Tuscany, central Italy. It is approximately 10 km from Montalcino about 9 km from the Via Francigena, the pilgrim route to Rome. Disused for many years, the abbey has since 1992 been in use by a small community of Premonstratensian Canons Regular. A tributary of the river Orcia, the Starcia, runs near the abbey.
