C-3PO: I would much rather have gone with Master Luke than stay here with you. I don't know what all this trouble is about, but I'm sure it must be your fault. You and that camera of yours.

My Nikon clicks off a shot.

C-3PO: You watch your language!

HAAA! I just couldn't resist. Yep, I shot away while on this ride again. :-)

Thanks for looking. And for anyone wondering...yep, I changed gears and my mind about a previous post which I deleted.

On Saturday, August 24, about 300 people attended the Pride Parade and Rally put on by NW PA Pride Alliance.

Put in place in their new home: nice & convenient in the cubbies on either side of the range, within easy reach.

put it up on the street. yup. might have been a mistake.....

Put this up to show the alternative camera mounting bracket for shooting in portrait mode. Made from a straight, flat bar and a T-shaped bracket from the local Homebase. Cranked to keep the lens barrel away from the nut.

The pivoting L-shaped bracket is to support the lens so I don't have to screw the camera up really tight and risk stripping the socket in the camera base. Black stuff is cut from an old mouse mat to prevent scratching.

Whilst Woody was built to take movies, the program can easily be modified to create time lapse movies. At the moment, the camera only waits long enough for any vibrations to cease and for the last shot to be stored. By modifying the program to extend the delay and allow the entry of the number of shots required, moving time-lapse videos can also be created.

The NXT can be programmed using NXT-G supplied by Lego or by a number of other languages which have been developed. It can be controlled by a program in the NXT or an external program in a computer or pda using Bluetooth. I use NXC (http://bricxcc.sourceforge.net/ or sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/mindboards/) but the choice is yours.

You do not even have to use Lego (although I think that is the easiest way). There are several other micro-processors and stepper motors which can control a pano head. Unlike the Gigapan, etc, you decide what the pano head is going to do and how it is going to do it..

Here is a link to the latest NXC version of my progam - not all sections fully tested but it does shoot panos. dl.dropbox.com/u/4174373/Woody NXC ZZ V1-2.nxc

You can read this file in any text editor (including Notepad) but will need the free Bricx Command Center to add it to your NXT (http://bricxcc.sourceforge.net/).

Why spend over £600 on a Gigapan when you can build your own programmable pano head for less than £200? And you can change the programs to make the head do as much (or as liitle) as you want. And, unlike the Gigapan, you can dismantle it and re-use or sell most of the components.

Published by: E.B. Ackley, Sandusky, Ohio / Curteich-Chicago "C.T. Art-Colortone" by Curt Teich Co., Chicago, Illinois

Publisher/Distributor Notes:

Eugene B. Ackley (1871-1957) was a popular musician and bandleader in Sandusky, Ohio. Born into a musical family in Illinois, Ackley took up the cornet at 12 becoming one of the best B-flat cornetists in the country. This allowed him to travel the country with different groups. He arrived in Sandusky at age 22 and worked as the director of music at the Cedar Point amusement park and as the instructor of the Sandusky Band and Orchestra. In 1902, he wrote the "Cedar Point March," the first song dedicated to the park.

Other than music, Ackley also ran a successful billiard parlor, published postcards, and served as the chairman of the board of the Western Security Bank.

The photos and images were created by E.B. Ackley, but the cards were printed en masse by the Curt Teich Company in Chicago, Ill., under the trade name, "C.T. Art-Colortone."

Curt Teich emigrated to Chicago in 1895. He had worked as a lithographer in Lobenstein, Germany.

He founded the Curt Teich Company in 1898, concentrating on newspaper and magazine printing. He was an early publisher of postcards, but he didn't begin printing them himself until 1908.

According to MetroPostcard.com, "As his competition dwindled, his sales expanded and his American factories would eventually turn out more postcards than any other in the United States."

The company was best known for its wide range of advertising and postcards of North America. By the 1920s, it was producing so many postcards with borders that they became recognized as a type dubbed "White Border Cards," creating an "era."

Curt Teich started using offset presses in 1907, but it took a number of years before he had offset presses made to his satisfaction and many more years for him to perfect the method.

His innovations in this printing technique directly led to the production of what we now call "linens" by the early 1930s.

The company aided the war effort during the second world war by also printing many military maps.

Curt Teich eventually turned management of the company over to his son, but he remained active in company operations throughout its history.

Curt Teich died in 1974 and the family business was sold to Regensteiner Publishers who continued to print postcards at the Chicago plant until 1978 when the rights to the company name and processes were sold to the Irish company, John Hinde Ltd. Their California subsidiary now prints postcards under the name John Hinde Curteich, Inc.

Can't put in the cranks or attach the shifter until I get the wiring fished through. (And I can't put on fenders until I've positioned the rear wheel so I know how many spacers need to go in at the chainstay bridge to get a not-too-embarrassing fender line.)

The front fender is problematic, because the rack sits very low and I may need to mill down the fender boss so I can attach the fender and have more than a couple of mm clearance. Worst case is that I pull the rack and modify one of my spares to fit.

Look at this scrap of a puppy! He's all fire and sassy attitude. After his nice long nap in Rubens' bed he'll be up for hours finding all sorts of mischief.

He had just turned three-months old when I took this photo.

Fire Chef Mike cooks while Fire Chief Marie welcomes Andrea.

When Friends ever need a fire put out, they call their Friends -- at the Heartlake City Fire Station!

The rotating fire-signal-beacon lights up to shine across the entire city, like a LightHouse for this Lake community. The station also has a siren and loudspeaker system next to the Fire Truck garage door -- so no matter where they are -- Friends come to the rescue!

Fire Chief Marie uses her management skills from running the City Park Cafe down the street.

They have Fire Chef Mike to cook for them too!

-------------------

This creation was built with ONLY Friends City Park Cafe set: www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3061-1 The only additional parts are steering wheel for fire truck borrowed from Steph's convertible. The windshield is actually from the Cafe set -- it's the baked goods display case glass. Green baseplate used for garden area and wheels for fire truck are from a Pink Brick Box.

The purpose of my restricted building this way is to demonstrate that if a girl who is new to LEGO bricks buys the Cafe and another small Friends set, and perhaps a bucket of bricks, she can build lots of creations with her imagination ;-)

1935 M45 Lagonda Open Tourer

Chassis No Z11188 reg BYT 321 started life as a Saloon and had a Whenman Pitney reproduction T8 body put on in 1989. She is a magnificent fast open touring car which developed 133 bhp last year on a rolling road! It is imposing. When she came into my posession 5 years ago, all but the engine was tired. This had been rebuilt in 2000 with a new block, crank re-ground etc by Vintage Coachworks of Hartley Whitney. In the last five years she had a body off sort-out and paint with re-chroming of headlamps and bars, followed by a new windscreen, hood and complete retrim- but those are just cosmetic! The car was completely rewired using a proper bound loom, the pedals transferred to accelarator on the right for ease and safety, a Beck Clutch conversion by David Ayre who also rebuilt the gear box and upped the back axle ratio to provide longer legs. New rear wheel splines. The brake servo was restored, the drums skimmed and new shoes. All 8 shock absorbers were restored and the telecontrol system restored and working well. New water pump, replaced timing chains and the original ki-gas pump was rebored and works well. So she is ready to go anywhere- she pulls like a dream and sounds a real burbler

Central Cafe in Paris on Rue Clair. Probably the best meal ever....at least top 5.

Put in about an hour on this. Sandlin built the engine base and cowl.

Page from a scrapbook my grandmother put together for her sister, apparently as a Christmas present, 1948.

My grandmother built a regionally-famous doll house called "Keepsake House" in the early 1940's. Of interest here is my grandmother's very detailed description of several rooms in the dollhouse that she built.

She also details, on the cover, her photographic technique, which was crude but effective. I'm amazed at how close-up she was able to get with a simple Kodak box camera.

Put in the staircase and glued a desk and some shelves to the wall. The small pieces of wood are from a SES set for children. ;) Now it's time for bed!

Athletics - Shot Put Final (M) - Hussin Adi Aliffuddin (MAS) making his sixth and final throw. It was to be his best throw. He scored a distance of 16.84m. A well deserved winner as he bettered his personal best of 16.21m!

My latest build- a polyAna (short for poly-analyzer). :)

I put an Xprotolab GT-0010 mixed-signal oscilloscope module into a mint tin along with a few RCA jacks, a 9V battery, on/off switch, a 7805 voltage regulator, and a piece of pink-painted protoboard.

The module uses a ATXMEGA32A4 with 36KB Flash, 4KB SRAM, and1KB EEPROM. It has a 128x64 pixel OLED display. See www.gabotronics.com for info about the Xprotolabs module.

It's good to 2M samples/sec and has an analog bandwidth of 200KHz with 8-bit resolution.

Functions include

-2 ch. analog o-scope

-2 ch. voltmeter w/ p-p & freq.

-FFT signal analyzer

-Waveform generator with sine, square, and triangle plus a sweep function that's synched with the FFT for freq response measurements.

And a bunch more.
