I have quite a few basic Beauty and the Beast stands that I've made. That's because different dolls use them based on my current display needs. Now, when I made these stands originally in 2011, I didn't anticipate that my entire collection wouldn't' fit on display in later years. These days, I actually give the dolls "shifts"--so each time I dust, I'll put a few dolls away, and then put a few dolls out that had previously been in storage. Of course, there are several dollies that never get put away for sentimental reasons, or simply because they are magnificent to look at. So it's nice to have some plainer stands to use for random dolls. My Disney Parks Belle actually used the Classics Belle stand for over a decade, since her dress is so voluminous that she can't really sit in it! I decided that after ten years of her renting the stand, she deserved a customized one. It's not like I planned on putting her away. So when I was deep cleaning my display in March 2026, I sanded off all the old paint and redesigned this just for her. I went with a very warm gold, to go with her gown. Then I did the lettering in white, outlined in a muted orange. The sequins I glued on look almost exactly like the ones that are on her factory ensemble!
Dad cut all of these stands (except Applause Belle's) if I'm not mistaken, during the first few rounds of stand making sessions. But later on, sometime in 2014, I redid the lettering. I want to say I also touched up the roses since I had to sand off the old paint, but these roses look like the originals. I also decided to paint the Prince stand black. I believe it was originally this dark blue/purple color that matched the boxes for the Classics dolls. Applause Belle's stand was made in 2020, from a recycled one I was no longer using. I believe hers was a former vintage Barbie stand I had not used in years. Rather than buy more baseboard, I simply decided to make a batch of stands by sanding down old ones and redecorating them. I had a lot of trouble deciding on what shade of pink to use for Belle's stand. I didn't want anything too loud, that would compete with her amazing golden yellow gown. I outlined the lettering in yellow and did the roses in yellow as well, to compliment the color of her ensemble. I love playing around with the color schemes of my Beauty and the Beast stands!

Well time for me to put on my Si-Fi anorak
I'm a big fan of all Si-Fi but love our home spun Dr.Who above most. I didn't put these few pics up just because I'm a saddo nut case (ok so I maybe) Part of the reason was how pleased I was with the outcome of them, I'll tell you it was bloody hard trying to control the exposure, keep the focus all without a tripod (or mono pod) All these were taken hand held, so I'm quite chuffed. If your a Dr.Who fan you'll enjoy the exhibition.
The Clockwork Robots were created by a spacecrew from the 51st Century. When the ship was damaged, vital machinery was destroyed so they began to use the crew's body parts instead.
They managed to travel through time windows so they could meet Madame de Pompadoure to use her brain, only when she was at the right age though.
They had strange smiling faces and long black hair for their trips to France but were actually glass humanoid figures operated by space age clockwork technology.
They would break any clocks in the room to disguise their arrival and would slice open the parts of people where the organs could be found by their blades and saws in their hands.
Put away the welding gear around 11pm. Still have a few more cuts, grinds and welds to do but that will have to wait till this afternoon or Maybe Saturday morning.
Was still up painting shirts for a while after this. Still haven't swapped the tires out on my bike, or adjusted the brakes, which needs to happen before race time tonight. I guess I can do it while my team-mates ride a few laps.

Vitamin C's "Smile"
And, that banana was delicious :)
Alright...
Alright...
First of all
When you wake up in the evening and the day is shot
Find yourself complaining 'bout the thing you ain't got
Never crossed just the way that you wanted it to
Cliche of the day, cest la vie that's just
[Chorus:]
Life, it ain't easy
It's so tough
It ain't easy
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
And another thing
You can say that I'm a dreamer and you think it's uncool
Preaching 'bout the better life I learned in school
But you get what you give in this life that we live
And all that you do come back to you
Life, it ain't easy
It's so tough
It ain't easy
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Yo,
When things isn't right there's no need to fight
Come on be nice
No need to fight
Stay polite even when you're hurting don't forget to smile
Give love to our nation, big or small
When you do good you'll get your reward
United with stand, divided we fall
Put a smile on your face and greet one and all
Life, it ain't easy
It's so tough
It ain't easy
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
Put a smile on your face
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on your face
(Whatchu wanna do, say whatchu gonna do)
People love you when you smile
And hate you when it's through
Lots of happiness
We are wishing you
If you come from Jamaica or Honolulu, yeah
Keep a smile on your face
I'll see the good that you do
Smile (smile)
And everything will be fine..
I'm put in mind of the Nightwish song "Wish I Had an Angel" on seeing this. Her wings look somewhat flimsy.

Kruger Park! South Africa! This is the first specimen we have put up from our recent trip to survey bees in Kruger. At this point I am incompetent to tell the species apart (there are no field guides to bees Citizen), but I can tell you this is a Megachile in what appears to be the subgenus Eutricharaea. This group can be fairly "weedy" showing up in urban / disturbed area with some members forming a common set of species that have invaded continents around the world. In any case, this species is almost certainly native to the region and our hope is that with time we can put species names on such things. We will likely take a little DNA from them too. About 2/3rds the size of a honey bee.

The Ballyfermot Gathering was held on the 26th July 2013. This idea was put to the Ballyfermot Heritage Group in March 2013 by Valerie Coffey who works with the Ballyfermot and Chapelizod Partnership, to see if the Heritage group would be interested in joining with the Partnership in running this event. It was decided by the Heritage group that we should get involved and the rest is history. A great night was had by 400 plus people that attended starting at 7.30pm and finishing at approx 2.30am
Thank you to the best of Ballyfermot

Put the finishing touches on the pink and purple sampler afghan.
This was my first sampler. Most of the squares (all but three) were suggested by a CAL I joined. I enjoyed the process, and I'll probably try another sometime. :o)
8 large potatoes, peeled, cubed-
(put the cut potatoes into water just enough to cover, reserve the water)
1 lb bacon, diced
1/4 C celery, diced
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
chicken bouillon (I use 'Better than Bouillon')
3 T butter
1/4 C flour
1 C half/half or cream
salt and pepper
In a heavy stock pot, cook the bacon to render the fat and until bacon is crisp. Drain but reserve 1/4 of the bacon fat and set cooked bacon aside.
Saute celery and onion until soft. Add garlic. Saute a couple of min more. Add drained potatoes and toss to coat. Saute 3-4 min more. Add bacon and cover with reserved potato water to just cover. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer till tender, 10-15 min.
When the potatoes are nearly done start a roux. In a saucepan melt the butter. Add the flour and mix. Cook 1-2 min. Add half/half or cream. Stir till blended. Add to the potato mix and stir well. Now, puree half of the soup in a blender or if you have an immersion blender. Return to the stock pot, stir. Salt and pepper to taste.
Do not fill the blender with the hot mixture, only halfway. It will 'explode' otherwise.
Serve with more bacon, green onions, cheese, crackers.
I zoomed in on the other picture, he's so tiny compared to Paul.

Another from the Put Van Hombeek, a lake south of Mechelen. Since there is not much foreground interest there, I decided to make a vertorama out of it.
