Floris was put to sleep by the vet. 16 years old. He could not go on like this. He lost a lot of weight and strength and the inflamation of his nose got worser and worser .This was caused by a polyp in the nose against the eye socket that couldnot be operated. The antibiotics didnot work anymore. There was no longer any prospect of improvement.
The inflammation had become very bad. He was on painkillers the last two month.
De dierenarts heeft Floris laten inslapen. Net 16 jaar oud. Zo kon hij niet verder. Hij verloor veel gewicht en kracht en de ontsteking van zijn neus werd erger en erger. Dit werd veroorzaakt door een poliep in de neus tegen de bovenkant van de oogkas aan die niet kon worden geopereerd. De antibiotica werkten niet meer. Er was geen zicht meer op verbetering. De ontsteking was heel erg geworden. Hij gebruikte de afgelopen twee maanden pijnstillers.

Pennan in the north of Scotland is put out constantly to the tides of the sea. In my visit in early autumn it meant the weather still humanly, the sea remained relatively quiet. I ask myself how it looks fine here if sometimes a storm gathers.....

After some winter pictures, I don't put a winter picture now, a picture before real winter has come ...
Bugs puts on this look when I point the camera at him. And for all the world, it looks like he is asking me, "What are you doing?" He is a bright boy who opens up the cupboard which has the cat food in it. Even having a wooden spoon across the handles doesn't deter him as he shakes the bottom of the doors until the spoon falls off and he is in, like a flash and pilfering the cat food tin. And oh yes he can take the lid of the tin too. As I said, he is a very clever boy.
We put a canopy up over the deck and the butterfly bushes are around the deck. The smell is wonderful and so is the view of butterflies and flowers. Tiger swallowtail ( Papilio glaucus )
Xenia Rubinos put on one of my favorite performances at Pitchfork Music Festival, emerging first on the stage wrapped in bubble wrap and then trailing a ribbon of blood. It was quite profound. She really has a passion especially for sticking up for those who are being mistreated. I also randomly met her after her set and she was quite nice. I didn't have my camera out because it was pouring but it was still nice to be able to tell her how much I enjoyed her set.

DAZZLINGLY ATTRACTIVE bird, put in a short feeding stop at Swalecliffe Kent, much to the sheer joy to me and all local birders. A handful breed in Scotland, and we only get to see them as a scarce passage migrant, on its way to Spain and Northern Africa. Now a have a permeate grin, so no need to go to sleep anymore with a metal clothes hanger bent up at the sides. lol.

Patience is a virtue as they say. My shooting partner, friend and ace photographer Mike Ryan of Michael Ryan Photography and myself have been patiently waiting for some scenes to come alive with the winter rains. Mike puts in tireless hours of scouting and researching areas, including myself, but not to the level of Mike. We have been bouncing around the Sonoma, Mendocino and Humboldt coastlines in search of beauty and solitude. When it all comes together it can be quite rewarding.

I was thrilled to have captured this Forster's Tern in flight (bif not being my forte) and I like the fact that a person is included in the frame. It puts the bird in context and shows how they both share the same space. This picture was taken early in the morning in Daytona Beach, Florida, last February.
