Verdun altarpiece at Klosterneuburg Monastery near Vienna

The Verdun Altar was made in c.1181 and it is named after the artist & craftsman Nicholas of Verdun. The altarpiece is divided into one central panel and 2 wings and comprises 51 copper squares. It is split into 3 rows due to biblical reference. The middle row shows the life and passion of Jesus, while the adjacent rows above and below illustrate the life of Abraham, Moses, Noah or Samson and other topics fitting to the elaborate program of "parallel" scenes. The Medium used for this work is called champlevé enamel work where a metal base with compartments is filled with enamel.

Put up a bird house on our land for good luck.

T-Tot came over to chill finally. He's gotten a little bigger, and his hair's grown a little longer. He says he's growing it for cancer kids. Good for him! :)

my friend shared me a bagful of yuzu, which was home-grown in another friends' garden. it was very timely gift, because my mom always put a tiny slice of yuzu peel in ozouni ( the new year's soup) to enjoy its refreshing, slightly bitter-sour flavor. it is also believed yuzu-yu, bath with whole or sliced yuzu, expels evil and protect people from catching cold.

You put essential oil in a small well in the top and it diffuses out through the pits in the 'cone'. A colleague at work got one and showed me, and I had to get one for myself. Much more natural and attractive than the hundreds of plastic electric gadgets around.

I have a new plan of themes I want to share with you! Yes, I am super excited! I have put a lot of thought into it and hope it will be fun as well as give you a head start on shooting. Get inspired, be creative, show me your photography skills and the artist within. Remember when taking photos to position yourself at different angles from the focus of your shot (far-away, up-close, down-low and up-high). After all, we are afforded digital these days so why not practice, practice, practice. If you fill up your memory dump it on an external hard drive, send to online storage, or your laptop-PC hard drive. Also, experiment with varying degrees of light and shadow. A good tip for natural lighting is to use a window. If at all possible move your object near window light and test moving it in different places to see how each area is lit in the image by window light. Another good tip to bringing more light to an area is to use whiteboard or a white sheet near your subject or focus. Opposite if you wish to darken your area - use a black sheet, back drop or blackboard. Hope this helps. What are you waiting for? Go get shooting and brainstorming!

A development sketch for my short film "Escape of the Gingerbread Man"... One of the pub patrons... fairly tough crowd... even for Ireland... where the story takes place. It's obvious from his pint glass... that Old Scratch isn't originally from Ireland though.

I am able to make this short film on the good graces of Juck, and his studio "The Monk".

The steps fold down and the walkway pulls out from the side of the main room. You can put up a mezzanine for the dog beds and open or close the window.

The rice doors slide open to reveal one of the four seasons which can be changed by pulling up on the tab that is sticking out.

I am not sure about the little oven. The oven has a hole and the little brown hot plate? fits into but so does the little gray dome beside it.

The tea room is furnished with a table, four mats, two teapots, four very tiny tea cups that keep getting lost, some shishkabobs, a large plate and a smaller plate.

I put a small chunk of millipede frass in my Ptenothrix marmorata culture, just to see if they might be interested in it. It turns out they are! At least at first.

They didn't seem particularly interested in eating it. But they had to at least come check it out, and a number of individuals everted their vesicles onto it. It wasn't particularly wet or anything, so I'm thinking maybe it has some particular ion/nutrient they need, and can absorb via their vesicles?

At the very beginning of the video, an adult comes by, climbs onto it and everts its vesicles. And then, starting at about 1:00 or so, it seems like there's a steady stream of individuals coming to check it out.

where to put all the baby bottles when the time comes? picked up these two picture rails from ikea for $9.99 and i think they'll do the job nicely.

I put my camera in my bag but there was no battery in it. So I took photos with iPhone.

Image: The AGC Military band put on a wonderful performance for the crowd at this years Imjin Proms.

More than a thousand people enjoyed the first Imjin Proms on Saturday.

The concert and outdoor festival event raised money for three military service charity associations with entertainment ranging from a musically choreographed Spitfire display to children's activities.

"The weather's held off and it's been a fantastic evening, with a fantastic range of music, with parachutists, and airplanes, and it's all just been going very well from my point of view," said Simon Footer, the main event coordinator from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Imjin Barracks, a Royal Air Force base that served for decades, has been home since 2010 to the event's other main host, NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps

Lt.Gen. Tim Evans, ARRC commander, welcomed the crowd with gratitude, wishing everyone a splendid evening, and thanking Aramark and other sponsors. The general envisioned the event more than a year ago to be a way for Imjin and other nearby military communities to share a memorable evening with Gloucestershire.

Sharing the experience of the Spitfire display brought many emotions to the diverse crowd. Presenter Peter Dickson said he was moved by the arial display, as that plane holds a special place in British hearts, answering a call in the 1940's with young pilots when "our backs were really against the wall, it delivered the effect we needed." Remembering them and the sacrifice of so many is important and one theme for the evening, he continued. The whole night has "surpassed expectation."

"I've painted many of them as a kid, but that's the first time I've ever seen one," said presenter Lewis Macleod, in a sincere moment backstage when he wasn't keeping the crowd laughing with his voice impressions between acts. "It was really beautiful."

The plane flew to classical music played by The Band of the Royal Air Force College, who also lit up the evening with a finale and fireworks around 10 pm. Other music included a pop-music cover set by the Adjutant Generals Corps' Band who got people up and dancing from their picnic blankets and chairs. The crowd also witnessed the precision of The Royal Marines Band and 19th Regimental Royal Artillery Pipes and Drums.

Children representing their school's talent, the Innsworth Military Wives Choir, and many others performed during the evening to the local crowd. The event succeeded in opening the gates of Imjin to the community and there is a hope to see more of these kinds of events in future.

Words & Music by Lee Adams & Charles Strouse

From the musical "Bye, Bye Birdie"

Gray skies are gonna clear up,

Put on a happy face!

Brush off the clouds and cheer up,

Put on a happy face!

Take off that gloomy mask of tragedy,

It's not your style.

You'll look so good that you'll be glad ya decided to smile!

Pick out a pleasant outlook,

Stick out that noble chin,

Wipe off that full-of-doubt look,

Slap on a happy grin!

And spread sunshine all over the place, just

Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

Put on a happy face!

And if you're feeling cross and bickerish

Don't sit and whine.

Think of banana splits and licorice,

And you'll feel fine!

I knew a girl so gloomy,

She'd never laugh or sing,

SHe wouldn't listen to me,

Now she's a mean old thing!

So spread sunshine all over the place, just

Put on a happy face!

:-)
