'So, Lobo and me went to see this movie and we were like, ya know, the acting of the main star, Mollie. She was like .. 'Wow'. I guess Twain's directing skills have improved quite a bit. He'll never be a musician like my Lobo is. And this windlight he uses has got to go ! But, .. yeh. Great movie ! I kept pulling Lobo's arm around me for comfort. It was sad .. and touching. Twain as the Director .. yes. He did seem to work with Mollie well. I can feel through out the film this constant searching for something 'more' .. the missing element. It is sad and touching. I admit .. I loved it.

'I am on the same sim as Twain is ..I'm working near by on the MGM Studio lot. I am dressed in only a rather skimpy swimsuit. Twain comes up to me and asks me if I could help him out and be in this photo for him. Now .. I had heard that Twain is a bit of a caution. Actually .. insane ! Here I am in the middle of a photo shoot ..almost naked. I was ready to turn him down ..then he tells me. 'You'll need to put more clothes on for this movie.' .. Well? I've never had a Director tell me I'd need more clothes ! So I thought that was a good sign. So I walk off the MGM studio lot and go with Twain to this remote area. I sit down on these pillows, all comfy. Twain tells me.. 'No! No pillows ! ' Twain throws out the pillows .. ? So I'm sitting there on the bare wood. He asks me to tell him a sad story .. and I start to tell him about when I was much younger, and how I had this puppy .. how it suddenly took ill, .. and .. and .. [waves her hands in front of her face ],... sorry, .. I , ... I just can't ... go there ... Anyways, .. I just felt so sad and isolated. Alone. Twain really knew how to draw out my emotions. The funny thing is most Directors are really very talky .. talk a lot. Twain was really very quiet. It must have taken about an hour to do this one scene alone. But he seemed rather 'normal' ? I'd work with him again. The pay wasn't that great. But he seemed a good Director and he gave me a coupon that has a $35.00 Linden value at any Perkins Restaurant. He let me watch the dailies of the filming as it proceeded which no other Director had ever let me do before. Seemed like a decent fellow. So .. yeh .. I'd work with him again. What else can I say?
He dresses in a formal suit on set everyday .. that's a bit much. Other than that no complaints.

Oh I put the rental Renault duster to good use in this one. I tried to go there last year but the road was closed due to a landslide, that road is open now, but it's still basically 4x4 on that side, I found another way, after reversing on many tracks that led to nowhere. If I went back there now, I still wouldn't know where to turn, and oh, google maps is useless, it thinks you can drive on goat tracks.

Lost Light – I was out shooting the storm last night and styed until dark to shoot long exposers of the clouds moving. The sun has set about 45 minutes before I took this shot and the sky had been dark for a while when these clouds started to glow in the east like it got lost during sunset. I decided grab some of the light in my shot. It was too dark to focus my camera, so I put my flashlight on the foreground rock and focused on it.
The technical – Nikon D810 Tamron 10-15mm at 21mm f/2.8 for 465 seconds. Processed in Lightroom.
TUBE NOSTRILS, puts the fulmar, with the family of the shearwaters and petrels, not a gull, to watch these birds with stiffly held wings and effortless gliding action, captured from the top of the cliffs at Northforland Margate, Kent. U.K are a joy to watch, they nest in the chalk cliffs. Please zoom in to see the tube nose! (110 cm in length)

This train took ages picking up a pair of locos involved in a level crossing accident in Oamaru the previous day.
Unbeknownst to me, it also picked up a string of empties. You'd think the train would handle better if they'd put them on the back. Grumble. :(

This was unique behaviour to me. The Squirrel wasnt anywhere near the photographers, but she was hyper vigilant.
They will often stand on their hind legs to let intruders know that they are a formidable enemy should advances be made further into the territory.

Windmill the “Put” on the “Galgewater” in the Dutch city of Leiden is a replica of the post mill of Jan Jansenzoon Put dating from 1987.
This original mill was built in 1619, after which the first mill burned down in 1640. After the wooden flour mill was rebuilt, it had to make way in 1729 for a stone scaffolding mill, similar to the De Valk mill. This mill, which bore the name “De Coornbloem / De Korenbloem / De Korenmolen”, was demolished in 1817. Archaeologists discovered the foundations of the octagonal mill stronghold in 1982. In 1983, as part of the 25th anniversary of the “Rijnlandse Molenstichting”, the idea was put forward to build a post mill on the old bastion. This idea was finally realized four years later. The mill has one grinding couple with 17, 150 cm diameter, artificial stones
Another one from the archives not processed before, again from early this year. I had to put in this one, the wave looks so like a toy teddy bear. February had some fairly exceptional weather with 3 named Storms for high winds and the wettest February since records began. On Saturday 29th February I again visited Newhaven to take in Storm Jorge, so named by the Spanish Met Office. Conditions were ideal with the rain having cleared earlier in the morning leaving sunshine and the winds increasing behind the front. The tides were also ideal being at 2.15. For this one I was on a high shingle beach safe from the waves and shooting with a long lens.
The wall is a breakwater for the harbour and with a serious storm massive waves come in from the SW and hit the breakwater also creating a lot of backwash and turbulence. This picture was taken about 1 and a half hours before high tide.
This picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Minolta 75-300mm zoom at 210mm. Taken handheld. No chance of a steady tripod in those conditions. The image was processed first in Camera Raw Editor. Then it was Topaz Denoise followed by Topaz Clarity and more contrast with an adjustment layer. Converted to Mono using Topaz B&W Effects.

Years ago, I quickly learned that my textured landscape images were far and away the most popular offered. Interesting in that in my early Flickr days I had numerous arguments on manipulation as opposed to SOOC...me arguing for SOOC. How things can change...;-) Sometimes, however, some images simply don't lend themselves to the process...at least in my opinion. This is an example. I tried adding a few different textures and they did nothing but detract from the photo. So here, what you see is what you get...

Aches, pains, anxiety and poor sleep habits all take their toll. Sometimes we have to just say OK, now it’s “Time To Relax” and just do it. Your favorite chair awaits, I promise.
