at least i think they are seed pods.
they kind of look like cherries that took a wrong turn down the evolutionary highway.

Found these odd seed pods on Kilmory Beach (Argyll, West Coast of Scotland) on Sunday. They look a bit like gherkins on the outside, but the inside looks a bit like corn (is that maize in British?) The outer skin was very hard and tough and had to be cut through with a knife.

I took this photo of one of the 32 pods from my pod. The gradual rotation in one of the 32 high-tech glass capsules takes approximately 30 minutes and gives you an ever-changing perspective of London. On a clear day you can see up to 40 kilometres away. Of course, to get the best out of it you must stand close to one of the windows, not sit in the middle on the seat provided and wish you were somewhere else. Like my wife…..
