A morning getting my hair cut followed by a trip tp Boots the chemist to buy new make -up seeing as I've worn very little of it since Lockdown, This was one of two freebies worth in excess of £40 according to the label. I'd only bought some Factor 50 sun cream, two lipsticks and two mascaras. As well as what you can see here, it also contains a packet of moisturising wipes, a lipstick and pearlescent nail varnish.

Trying to get back into shoot from below after a brief hiatus. I love the pearlescent look of this liquid.

I thought I should give a little info on this unique little guy or gal.

This a nautilus which, according to Wikipedia, means "Sailor" in the Greek language. It is a part of the Mollusk family. The scientific name is: Nautilus pompilius. This animal lives in its spiral shell and can completely cover himself in its shell by closing the opening with their leathery hood that looks like a triangle here. Inside its shell, it is a smooth pearlescent blue-gray substance. It's very pretty.

They are found in the Indian Ocean and the Western and Central Pacific Ocean. They are also found around Indonesia... and; did I visit there to get this shot? I wish! Actually, this is from my visit to the Pacific Aquarium in Long Beach, CA.

I tried photographing them several times but because they are kept in the dark, it is difficult to get a good shot. This is the first one that I took that I liked. I would still like to get the whole animal with its shell next time. Until then... here is my first Nautilus shot.

This is a large Pearlescent Onyx Sphere luminary displayed for sale at Kino Sports Complex. It is 24" in diameter. List price is $6,900

Tucson Convention Center is indoors; the exhibits are nicely curated. It is mostly retail type sales. In contrast, the Kino is mostly outside on the parking lots and fields at the sports complex There are some very large tents, about the size of a football field and some smaller 10x10 and 20x10 tents. Many of the gems, minerals, and displays are brought in by forklift on pallets. In the tents, the specimens are in large rectangular plastic containers. At TCC the vendors are retail and many of the gems sell by the gram. At Kino the vendors are retail and wholesale. Gems and minerals are sold by the pound or by the piece.

Onyx is a type of chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline form of quartz. It is a banded variety of chalcedony that forms in concentric layers of different colors. Onyx typically has a black base with white or colored bands. The colored bands can range from shades of brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.

Onyx is found in various parts of the world, including Brazil, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Pakistan, and the United States. It has been used for thousands of years for decorative purposes, as well as for jewelry and other ornamental objects.

In ancient times, onyx was believed to have protective properties and was often used in talismans and amulets. It was also used in the creation of cameos and intaglios, which are engraved designs that are cut into the surface of the stone.

Today, onyx is still used for jewelry and decorative objects, and is valued for its unique beauty and distinctive banding. It is also used as a building material for floors, walls, and countertops, and is often used in high-end residential and commercial properties.

Did a few things for Nerida's 'Mermaid Room' yesterday ...

I bought the Re-ment set 'Mermaid Room' a few years ago and set it all up for Nerida in the basement of BlytheTowers. But a few things remained to be done ...

There were so many things in the Re-ment set - an extra table was needed and Nerida had been using a spare table from the 1:12 scale does' house - but it was a dark brown / timber. It clashed with all the pastel colours ... so I painted it light blue.

The 'light fitting' was an actual piece of ?soft coral? (I don't know what it was really but perhaps a tree coral?) that I found washed up on Corrimal beach in January 2022 (a few days after there had been a big tsunami in the pacific ocean). When I found the coral it was a very bright orange colour - but it faded to a grey / beige very quickly. Partly in memory of its original colour I wanted to give it an orange tone ... so I mixed a little orange paint into some pearlescent acrylic - for a nice 'coral' colour.

In the side photo of the coral drying - behind are 2 shells getting a piece of wood glued on ... I'm not sure what these oyster shells are on Nerida's wall (art? a TV screen? ??)

I also added a lot of fantasy sea-world stickers to the walls and floor of the room. Nerida is a little girl mermaid and little girls like stickers.

The Lincoln Futura made its official public debut on January 8, 1955, at the Chicago Auto Show, after being shown to the press earlier that week. Beyond auto shows, the Futura had a significant impact on pop culture. It was modified by Hollywood customizer George Barris into the Batmobile for the 1966 TV series “Batman.” The car was also featured in the 1959 movie “It Started with a Kiss,” starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford.

The Lincoln Futura was designed by Ford’s lead stylists, Bill Schmidt and John Najjar, and was hand-built by Ghia in Turin, Italy. It boasted a 300-horsepower V-8 engine, push-button transmission controls, and a distinctive double-dome canopy roof. Its body style was a 2-door coupe with a front engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Its original pearlescent finish was created using ground fish scales to achieve a shimmering effect.

The styling elements of the Futura, such as its headlights and tailfins, influenced the design of production Lincolns in the following years, and its concave front grille inspired the grille on the 1960 Mercury Monterey and the 1960 Ford Galaxie. [Sources: Wikipedia and Bing Copilot]

So it was already planned that the 1st of August I will be hunting for dolls. I went to Walmart, Target & K-Mart looking for The Barbie Look, Texas A&M University Kens & the Holiday dolls. Didn't find them anywhere. The nearest K-Mart does not have any stocks of the Holiday Barbies. I drove miles and miles for nothing…until I went to one Target store and I found them. There they were. 4 Caucasian versions and 2 African-American versions of Holiday Barbies in stock. This year’s Holiday Barbies are so beautiful! All three versions are must-haves for me. The blonde Caucasian version is like a Mackie version of The Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie. I don’t know when I will see the K-Mart Exclusive Auburn Haired version but she’s next on my list. The 2013 Holiday Barbie African-American had always been the priority from the get-go. Her face is stunning! I was amused by the other AA in stock as she didn’t have teeth painted on. So it looked like she has a closed-mouth. But as I looked closer I thought it looked weird. But at least I got to imagine a Pazette sculpt with a closed mouth. Now unto the review… Let’s start with the negatives. Her head is very hard which I am assuming she has glue inside her head. And OMG you guys! She has hollow legs like last year’s Holiday Barbies! It’s really not big of a deal but I’m not used to a Barbie with a regular ModelMuse body with hollow legs. I think this is a cost cutting decision by Mattel. Not cool! Now the positives…She has really thick Saran hair with soft curls which I think is pretty. She has Magenta colored lips which is different from the Caucasian’s Red colored lips. Her dress is very pretty. I think Judy Choi did a great job with the design. I really love the snowflake cut-outs. I think hiding the other shoulder strap looks better though. She comes with new set of earring molds which is a major plus for me. She comes with a silver pearlescent shoes which I thought was the Christian Louboutin Anemone shoe mold but it actually is the same shoe mold as BFMC Tribute’s shoe mold. It keeps falling off from her feet because of her hollow legs but it actually fit well on Barbies with the regular bendy MM legs. At long last they added a doll stand. For years doll stands weren’t included with the Holiday Barbies. Though I felt I can live without it, just give us the regular bendy legs.:( I wasn’t really expecting it but this doll has the Light Brown skintone, which Barbie Basics Red Model No. 2 Lara and Barbie Basics 2.5 Model No. 8 Mbili have. A skintone lighter than Afra, which Barbie Basics 1.0 & 2.0 Model No. 8 Mbili have. All three AA dolls with the Pazette sculpt released this year have the same skintone which means I can rebody them with Barbie Basics 2.5 Model No. 8’s articulated body. Again, despite her flaws, I like her. I think she’s a gorgeous doll. I just wish the GHS (Glue in Head Syndrome) will be stopped for good. I mean the second wave of TBL dolls don’t have them. Why gotta be so inconsistent Mattel? And now we have to deal with HLS (Hollow Legs Syndrome). Just get it together Mattel!

This is the finished version of the painting of my nephew making stars & a comet in a pool. It's 19" x 24". There are several earlier photos of it here from various stages in its development. I used a large sheet of Sennelier paper with Sennelier and Diane Thompson handmade pastels, including some pearlescent colors.

This is the first time I've painted a figure, and now that opens doors to more types of content.

Lovely to see another of our roses in bloom, Pearlescent becomes #2 to flower in 2025.

Purchased as a band rose in 2021, it hasn’t put on any substantial growth but is a regular bloomer.

It has a beautiful, intoxicatingly fragrant with pure white, double flowers. The slightly ruffled petals become tinged with a hint of pink in cooler temperatures as can be seen in the image.

Here she is! My 6th Disney store custom doll! And isn't she pretty? She took alot of time, alot of beads, and 4 different dresses! But I'm happy to say, she's finally done! I made everything on her. She was originally a 2013 Disney store Pocahontas doll. I took off her original outfit, and original paint. I repainted her face, and highlighted it with gold. I also have her real eyelashes, and made them angled. Her outfit is beaded with white, and gold glass beads. It's also jeweled with real crystals. Her outfit is made of a very fine suede, and lined with dark tan silk. Her leaves are made of a silk organza, hand glittered by me. Her necklace is made with glass beads, and one real crystal. She also has white pearlescent crystal earrings, and glass bead anklet. Her stand was made also by me, and has molded features. Such as a fish, and rock, and water! The stand is also lined on the bottom with black leather. She was a total labor of love!lol but honestly, I'm glad to be done. As its the last doll that I need for my doll portfolio. New pictures are coming soon for all of my ooak dolls. Especially outside pictures with her! As Elsa sent a snow storm, and she and i would've froze.lol

This event was inspired by a dream...

The soft hum of dream pop gently fades in, as if the sound itself is pulling her from the shadows of sleep. She opens her eyes to a world bathed in sunset—the sky is a hazy lavender and reddish orange, with stars flickering softly like forgotten memories. The air feels thick, like velvet, and everything around her glows with a surreal, pearlescent light.

This is The Transcendent Realm—the dream world she has created to escape the harshness of life. In the distance, a tall man approaches, his figure gleaming like a beacon. His outfit is almost otherworldly, sleek and futuristic, all in white. His face, translucent and glowing, radiates warmth, but his eyes are deep, almost unknowable.

The dreamstream hums with the sound of ethereal shoegazing as he moves closer, as if the music is an extension of the dream itself. "Welcome," he says, his voice a mix of soothing tones, like notes drifting through fog. He extends a hand, and she takes it without hesitation. His touch feels light, almost weightless, but it grounds her in this dream world in a way she can't explain. They walk together, and he leads her through the Transcendent Realm, where the impossible feels ordinary.

Juniper trees with beautiful leaves sway in rhythm to the surreal electronica soundtrack that surrounds them, their colors look painted. The sky above seems to stretch endlessly, as if the horizon has no end. It's beautiful, and yet, there’s an underlying familiarity in it. She pauses as they pass a small grove of trees, and a wave of curiosity washes over her. The man notices her hesitation. "What is it?" he asks, his glowing face turning toward hers."This place..." she murmurs. "It reminds me of my childhood. I used to be so curious about everything around me." In her mind, fleeting images of her younger self exploring the woods near her home flash by—innocent, unburdened by the weight of reality. He smiles gently, but his gaze remains enigmatic. "Curiosity has a way of bringing us back to ourselves."

They continue walking, the music around them evolving—soft, dreamlike, and tinged with melancholy, as though the notes are holding memories she’s forgotten. But then, without warning, the peaceful soundtrack is shattered by a sudden, blinding flash of light. Lightning, crackling with raw energy, strikes a massive stone structure in the distance.

The sound reverberates through the air, sharp and overwhelming. Her heart pounds in her chest as she stares at the smoldering rock, the force of it so vivid it feels real. Too real. Before she can process it, the world begins to blur, the dream dissolving around her like smoke in the wind. She gasps, sitting up abruptly in her bed, her pulse racing. The Transcendent Realm is gone.

Days pass, and she can’t shake the image of the man, his glowing face, his enigmatic smile. He seemed so real, more than just a figment of her imagination. Who was he? Was he a stranger from her waking world or a part of her own subconscious that had taken form in the dream? She finds herself longing to return to the Transcendent Realm, to the beauty of the place, and to the mystery of the man who showed her a world beyond the ordinary.

Every night, she lies awake, hoping that sleep will take her back there. Back to him. But each time, she wakes up to reality. The music of the dream lingers in her mind, haunting her, pulling her back toward a world she can’t quite reach. She knows one thing for certain—whatever the Transcendent Realm is, it’s not just a dream. It’s a part of her now, forever etched in the space between dreams and reality.

See you soon, where we can all escape and dream for a while.

You guys I have been MIA for so long! Just know that I have not abandoned Flickr. I have been busy with other things. Doll-related stuff I have been working on that I can’t reveal at this time. I’m just not good at juggling tasks I guess. I can’t seem to do everything at once. But I’m so excited to talk about the 2017 W Club Exclusive, The Faces of Adèle Gift Set that for the first time I’m actually skipping a bunch of dolls I have yet to do a review on and give way to this amazing offering by Integrity Toys.

The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here. While Adele is one of the pioneers of Fashion Royalty alongside Veronique she has never been given a proper tribute not until this instant. I guess Integrity Toys have been waiting for a designer like Jessy Ayala to make this a possibility. Now that I have this set in my hands I can say that I am not disappointed one bit. There may be specific things I would change but overall I am pleased.

The fashions in this set are inspired by Maticevski, a Melblourne-based Australian fashion label known for unconventional shapes and silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders and sleeves. The electric pink asymmetrical evening gown is inspired by one of Toni Maticevski’s dresses called Mysterious from his Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection which was originally in black and I believe there are two other versions in white and yellow for his Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear Collection. I would normally critique on the details not being accurate to the original design (like I always do) but the alterations that were made in doll scale actually worked. While some details weren’t present in Maticevski’s design like the fitted sleeve, the open back with the folded flaps and the sculptural high slit, they are well-executed enough that I can’t even see a fault in this. I think the details are stunning! Another fashion in this set is the shredded chiffon black and white day dress. Again another exquisite creation as it translates well to doll scale. We’ve had so many fashion moments in the world of Fashion Royalty but I have never seen anything that is as edgy as this and that sets the aesthetic and tone of this gift set. I can see a Supermodel like Naomi Campbell wearing this and it’s only fitting that Adele who is a top model in the world of Fashion Royalty gets to wear it. Some of you might notice the fraying hem of the dress and wonder if it’s a quality issue. The unfinished look is actually intentional as it is present in the original Maticevski design.

The thigh high suede boots with the gold metal heel are also Maticevski. They’re easy to zip up and fit well on her. The pink and gold metallic pumps are inspired by Malone Souliers. I really think we are in dire need of metallic shoes and I think these are gorgeous. I would love to see metallic strappy sandals similar to Saint Laurent and Giuseppe Zanotti and pointed closed toe pumps similar to Gianvito Rossi and Christian Louboutin in the future. Now I was surprised that the third pair of shoes is actually not bad for a basic pair of pumps. In the promos they looked like matte faux leather but they’re actually a patent leather with pink soles at the bottom. I’m glad they’ve put thought into this pair and they’re not some filler accessories. What I’m waiting for from the designers are pointed toes. The soles on the current pointed shoes aren’t pointy enough for me. In this set there are actually two pairs of lingerie. The bra that Adele 2.0 is wearing is a black version of Vamp Agnes’ with a lace overlay and under it is a nude color that matches the A-Tone skin tone. It goes with a basic pair of black panties with the same fabric. Now the high-waisted fishnet panties actually go with the strapless bra that Adele 3.0 is wearing. I didn’t get the mismatched underwear that Adele 2.0 was wearing in the promos at first but realizing that there are actually two pairs of lingerie now makes sense! Just to warn you though that the bras don’t stay put once you free them from the strings that hold them in place when you display the busts in the Museum Podium stand the set comes with. They will surely fall off leaving the busts naked.

Now let’s talk about the dolls! These are incarnations of Adele’s face sculpts from past to present. With Adele 1.0 she was given a new face design to make her current and she’s reminiscent of 2008’s The Muse with flocked hair. Now I would have loved if she had blonde hair instead just because we have not seen Adele in flocked blonde hair. To me it seemed like the pink gown was designed specifically for her because the direction of where she’s looking corresponds with where the slit of the gown and the exposed shoulder are located. With that being said all three of them really looks great wearing the gown. I love that even if the make-up palettes vary from one another each of them actually looks great in the dress. Now Adele 1.0 is the only one without the rouged nipples. I would have liked to see uniformity within the three. This is my first doll in this face sculpt and I can see why they had to retire the sculpt that early as it needed to be refined and perfected and Adele 2.0 was the perfected version of her.

With Adele 3.0 she was given the 2016 face design which is the same design as the one-of-a-kind doll Obsession Adele from the Supermodel Convention. At last year’s Fashion Fairytale Convention at the W Club Luncheon designer panel some issues were addressed pertaining to the 2016’s A Delicate Bloom Collection. It wasn’t that Integrity Toys didn’t want to release any dolls of color but it was because they ran into some predicament at the factory that forced them to release a collection that wasn’t as diverse as they intend it to be. Adele along with another character were planned to be included in the collection but the samples didn’t make it in time for the product unveiling. I believe that Adele who didn’t make it in time is the Adele 3.0 in this set. The factory issues that they faced might have been destined so this big moment for Adele could come into fruition. I guess it happened for a reason. While I don’t like 3.0 as much as 2.0 she actually held her own. As stoic as she is, she is unquestionably striking. The only thing I would change about her is the body that was assigned to her. I would rather have 1.0 have the NU.Face body instead of her. Even though I started collecting Fashion Royalty at that time 3.0 already replaced 2.0, as the years have passed I have come to the conclusion that she is a totally different character from Adele. In my mind she is her own character. The often times snobbish expression of 3.0 isn’t who Adele is in the story line. The height of her nose elongates her face in a similar way to Annik which to me just makes her a different person all together.

Now the face sculpt that truly epitomizes Adele’s character is 2.0. No doubt about it. If you think that Glamazon Adele was beautiful, this version of Adele surpassed her even more. Again this is another redemption moment for her. While I’ve always thought that there’s too much going on with the Paparazzi Bait screening I have come to love this face design as this is one of Adele 2.0’s best. There’s a squint in her eyes and the way that she stares that makes her expressive and I think that Adele should always be as inviting as this. She definitely lures you in. In the promos she appears to have a pink glossy lip but the production version has a nude pearlescent lip color that makes her the most attractive out of the three. Also while I initially questioned the choice of skin tone I’m actually glad that A-Tone was chosen as the rich pigment of this skin tone makes her glow even more in comparison to FR Black which is Adele’s default skin tone. While I do love this blonde hair color on her I did wish that they could have given her a dark brunette hair color instead as this would have been a quintessential Naomi Campbell moment for her even though channeling Beyonce isn’t bad either. They are two of my heroes. So why complain, right? In conclusion, this has been a dream come true for me. The fashions I love and the character I adore. Take it to Integrity Toys to come up with the fiercest, most innovative and most fashion forward collection of dolls. This gift set has it all.
