This event was inspired by a dream...
The soft hum of dream pop gently fades in, as if the sound itself is pulling her from the shadows of sleep. She opens her eyes to a world bathed in sunset—the sky is a hazy lavender and reddish orange, with stars flickering softly like forgotten memories. The air feels thick, like velvet, and everything around her glows with a surreal, pearlescent light.
This is The Transcendent Realm—the dream world she has created to escape the harshness of life. In the distance, a tall man approaches, his figure gleaming like a beacon. His outfit is almost otherworldly, sleek and futuristic, all in white. His face, translucent and glowing, radiates warmth, but his eyes are deep, almost unknowable.
The dreamstream hums with the sound of ethereal shoegazing as he moves closer, as if the music is an extension of the dream itself. "Welcome," he says, his voice a mix of soothing tones, like notes drifting through fog. He extends a hand, and she takes it without hesitation. His touch feels light, almost weightless, but it grounds her in this dream world in a way she can't explain. They walk together, and he leads her through the Transcendent Realm, where the impossible feels ordinary.
Juniper trees with beautiful leaves sway in rhythm to the surreal electronica soundtrack that surrounds them, their colors look painted. The sky above seems to stretch endlessly, as if the horizon has no end. It's beautiful, and yet, there’s an underlying familiarity in it. She pauses as they pass a small grove of trees, and a wave of curiosity washes over her. The man notices her hesitation. "What is it?" he asks, his glowing face turning toward hers."This place..." she murmurs. "It reminds me of my childhood. I used to be so curious about everything around me." In her mind, fleeting images of her younger self exploring the woods near her home flash by—innocent, unburdened by the weight of reality. He smiles gently, but his gaze remains enigmatic. "Curiosity has a way of bringing us back to ourselves."
They continue walking, the music around them evolving—soft, dreamlike, and tinged with melancholy, as though the notes are holding memories she’s forgotten. But then, without warning, the peaceful soundtrack is shattered by a sudden, blinding flash of light. Lightning, crackling with raw energy, strikes a massive stone structure in the distance.
The sound reverberates through the air, sharp and overwhelming. Her heart pounds in her chest as she stares at the smoldering rock, the force of it so vivid it feels real. Too real. Before she can process it, the world begins to blur, the dream dissolving around her like smoke in the wind. She gasps, sitting up abruptly in her bed, her pulse racing. The Transcendent Realm is gone.
Days pass, and she can’t shake the image of the man, his glowing face, his enigmatic smile. He seemed so real, more than just a figment of her imagination. Who was he? Was he a stranger from her waking world or a part of her own subconscious that had taken form in the dream? She finds herself longing to return to the Transcendent Realm, to the beauty of the place, and to the mystery of the man who showed her a world beyond the ordinary.
Every night, she lies awake, hoping that sleep will take her back there. Back to him. But each time, she wakes up to reality. The music of the dream lingers in her mind, haunting her, pulling her back toward a world she can’t quite reach. She knows one thing for certain—whatever the Transcendent Realm is, it’s not just a dream. It’s a part of her now, forever etched in the space between dreams and reality.
See you soon, where we can all escape and dream for a while.
XOXO

Bubbles or spheres with a pearlescent sheen rest gently on luxurious drapes of pastel-colored silk in pale pink, light blue and soft yellow. The fabric folds of silk create a sense of softness, enhancing the dreamy and serene ambiance.
The bubbles or spheres vary slightly in size and hue, and their translucent nature allows the colors of the underlying fabric to subtly show through.
I set out to create a pretty image of softness with pastel colors that I feel would make a lovely abstract print or look lovely on many of the fine art america products, especially a duvet cover, pillow, etc.
THE FINE ART AMERICA LOGO / MY WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED PRINTS OR PRODUCTS.
I bought some hotfix pearls to use for the pearl in the mermaid's hand but unfortunately I ordered the wrong size and didn't have time to order more so that they would arrive before we left for our 3w holiday, so I had to embroider the pearl instead, using pearlescent thread. Not the same wow factor but I hope the new owner likes it

Lovely to see another of our roses in bloom, Pearlescent becomes #2 to flower in 2025.
Purchased as a band rose in 2021, it hasn’t put on any substantial growth but is a regular bloomer.
It has a beautiful, intoxicatingly fragrant with pure white, double flowers. The slightly ruffled petals become tinged with a hint of pink in cooler temperatures as can be seen in the image.

So it was already planned that the 1st of August I will be hunting for dolls. I went to Walmart, Target & K-Mart looking for The Barbie Look, Texas A&M University Kens & the Holiday dolls. Didn't find them anywhere. The nearest K-Mart does not have any stocks of the Holiday Barbies. I drove miles and miles for nothing…until I went to one Target store and I found them. There they were. 4 Caucasian versions and 2 African-American versions of Holiday Barbies in stock. This year’s Holiday Barbies are so beautiful! All three versions are must-haves for me. The blonde Caucasian version is like a Mackie version of The Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie. I don’t know when I will see the K-Mart Exclusive Auburn Haired version but she’s next on my list. The 2013 Holiday Barbie African-American had always been the priority from the get-go. Her face is stunning! I was amused by the other AA in stock as she didn’t have teeth painted on. So it looked like she has a closed-mouth. But as I looked closer I thought it looked weird. But at least I got to imagine a Pazette sculpt with a closed mouth. Now unto the review… Let’s start with the negatives. Her head is very hard which I am assuming she has glue inside her head. And OMG you guys! She has hollow legs like last year’s Holiday Barbies! It’s really not big of a deal but I’m not used to a Barbie with a regular ModelMuse body with hollow legs. I think this is a cost cutting decision by Mattel. Not cool! Now the positives…She has really thick Saran hair with soft curls which I think is pretty. She has Magenta colored lips which is different from the Caucasian’s Red colored lips. Her dress is very pretty. I think Judy Choi did a great job with the design. I really love the snowflake cut-outs. I think hiding the other shoulder strap looks better though. She comes with new set of earring molds which is a major plus for me. She comes with a silver pearlescent shoes which I thought was the Christian Louboutin Anemone shoe mold but it actually is the same shoe mold as BFMC Tribute’s shoe mold. It keeps falling off from her feet because of her hollow legs but it actually fit well on Barbies with the regular bendy MM legs. At long last they added a doll stand. For years doll stands weren’t included with the Holiday Barbies. Though I felt I can live without it, just give us the regular bendy legs.:( I wasn’t really expecting it but this doll has the Light Brown skintone, which Barbie Basics Red Model No. 2 Lara and Barbie Basics 2.5 Model No. 8 Mbili have. A skintone lighter than Afra, which Barbie Basics 1.0 & 2.0 Model No. 8 Mbili have. All three AA dolls with the Pazette sculpt released this year have the same skintone which means I can rebody them with Barbie Basics 2.5 Model No. 8’s articulated body. Again, despite her flaws, I like her. I think she’s a gorgeous doll. I just wish the GHS (Glue in Head Syndrome) will be stopped for good. I mean the second wave of TBL dolls don’t have them. Why gotta be so inconsistent Mattel? And now we have to deal with HLS (Hollow Legs Syndrome). Just get it together Mattel!

In the sacred glades beyond the Veil of Color, where time flows like light through crystal, lives Seraphina, high enchantress of the Prism Court. Her presence is a living aurora — skin kissed by lavender moonlight, hair painted in the full spectrum of dawn, and eyes like twin galaxies locked in bloom.
She wears a diadem of living emeralds, each stone pulsing with the essence of ancient spells. Her wings shimmer with pearlescent hues, catching even unseen light — a fusion of opal, stardust, and dream-thread. When she moves, the air sings. When she speaks, reality listens.
Clad in garments woven from enchanted light and echoing magic itself, Seraphina is more than a pixie — she is a myth carved in color, a guardian of balance, and the last keeper of chromatic truth. Her aura bends time. Her touch heals or shatters.
To see her is to remember beauty beyond mortality.
This is the finished version of the painting of my nephew making stars & a comet in a pool. It's 19" x 24". There are several earlier photos of it here from various stages in its development. I used a large sheet of Sennelier paper with Sennelier and Diane Thompson handmade pastels, including some pearlescent colors.
This is the first time I've painted a figure, and now that opens doors to more types of content.

Here she is! My 6th Disney store custom doll! And isn't she pretty? She took alot of time, alot of beads, and 4 different dresses! But I'm happy to say, she's finally done! I made everything on her. She was originally a 2013 Disney store Pocahontas doll. I took off her original outfit, and original paint. I repainted her face, and highlighted it with gold. I also have her real eyelashes, and made them angled. Her outfit is beaded with white, and gold glass beads. It's also jeweled with real crystals. Her outfit is made of a very fine suede, and lined with dark tan silk. Her leaves are made of a silk organza, hand glittered by me. Her necklace is made with glass beads, and one real crystal. She also has white pearlescent crystal earrings, and glass bead anklet. Her stand was made also by me, and has molded features. Such as a fish, and rock, and water! The stand is also lined on the bottom with black leather. She was a total labor of love!lol but honestly, I'm glad to be done. As its the last doll that I need for my doll portfolio. New pictures are coming soon for all of my ooak dolls. Especially outside pictures with her! As Elsa sent a snow storm, and she and i would've froze.lol
The Stylidium vinosum flowers mid October in a restricted area. It is a plant requiring more research.

You guys I have been MIA for so long! Just know that I have not abandoned Flickr. I have been busy with other things. Doll-related stuff I have been working on that I can’t reveal at this time. I’m just not good at juggling tasks I guess. I can’t seem to do everything at once. But I’m so excited to talk about the 2017 W Club Exclusive, The Faces of Adèle Gift Set that for the first time I’m actually skipping a bunch of dolls I have yet to do a review on and give way to this amazing offering by Integrity Toys.
The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here. While Adele is one of the pioneers of Fashion Royalty alongside Veronique she has never been given a proper tribute not until this instant. I guess Integrity Toys have been waiting for a designer like Jessy Ayala to make this a possibility. Now that I have this set in my hands I can say that I am not disappointed one bit. There may be specific things I would change but overall I am pleased.
The fashions in this set are inspired by Maticevski, a Melblourne-based Australian fashion label known for unconventional shapes and silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders and sleeves. The electric pink asymmetrical evening gown is inspired by one of Toni Maticevski’s dresses called Mysterious from his Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection which was originally in black and I believe there are two other versions in white and yellow for his Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear Collection. I would normally critique on the details not being accurate to the original design (like I always do) but the alterations that were made in doll scale actually worked. While some details weren’t present in Maticevski’s design like the fitted sleeve, the open back with the folded flaps and the sculptural high slit, they are well-executed enough that I can’t even see a fault in this. I think the details are stunning! Another fashion in this set is the shredded chiffon black and white day dress. Again another exquisite creation as it translates well to doll scale. We’ve had so many fashion moments in the world of Fashion Royalty but I have never seen anything that is as edgy as this and that sets the aesthetic and tone of this gift set. I can see a Supermodel like Naomi Campbell wearing this and it’s only fitting that Adele who is a top model in the world of Fashion Royalty gets to wear it. Some of you might notice the fraying hem of the dress and wonder if it’s a quality issue. The unfinished look is actually intentional as it is present in the original Maticevski design.
The thigh high suede boots with the gold metal heel are also Maticevski. They’re easy to zip up and fit well on her. The pink and gold metallic pumps are inspired by Malone Souliers. I really think we are in dire need of metallic shoes and I think these are gorgeous. I would love to see metallic strappy sandals similar to Saint Laurent and Giuseppe Zanotti and pointed closed toe pumps similar to Gianvito Rossi and Christian Louboutin in the future. Now I was surprised that the third pair of shoes is actually not bad for a basic pair of pumps. In the promos they looked like matte faux leather but they’re actually a patent leather with pink soles at the bottom. I’m glad they’ve put thought into this pair and they’re not some filler accessories. What I’m waiting for from the designers are pointed toes. The soles on the current pointed shoes aren’t pointy enough for me. In this set there are actually two pairs of lingerie. The bra that Adele 2.0 is wearing is a black version of Vamp Agnes’ with a lace overlay and under it is a nude color that matches the A-Tone skin tone. It goes with a basic pair of black panties with the same fabric. Now the high-waisted fishnet panties actually go with the strapless bra that Adele 3.0 is wearing. I didn’t get the mismatched underwear that Adele 2.0 was wearing in the promos at first but realizing that there are actually two pairs of lingerie now makes sense! Just to warn you though that the bras don’t stay put once you free them from the strings that hold them in place when you display the busts in the Museum Podium stand the set comes with. They will surely fall off leaving the busts naked.
Now let’s talk about the dolls! These are incarnations of Adele’s face sculpts from past to present. With Adele 1.0 she was given a new face design to make her current and she’s reminiscent of 2008’s The Muse with flocked hair. Now I would have loved if she had blonde hair instead just because we have not seen Adele in flocked blonde hair. To me it seemed like the pink gown was designed specifically for her because the direction of where she’s looking corresponds with where the slit of the gown and the exposed shoulder are located. With that being said all three of them really looks great wearing the gown. I love that even if the make-up palettes vary from one another each of them actually looks great in the dress. Now Adele 1.0 is the only one without the rouged nipples. I would have liked to see uniformity within the three. This is my first doll in this face sculpt and I can see why they had to retire the sculpt that early as it needed to be refined and perfected and Adele 2.0 was the perfected version of her.
With Adele 3.0 she was given the 2016 face design which is the same design as the one-of-a-kind doll Obsession Adele from the Supermodel Convention. At last year’s Fashion Fairytale Convention at the W Club Luncheon designer panel some issues were addressed pertaining to the 2016’s A Delicate Bloom Collection. It wasn’t that Integrity Toys didn’t want to release any dolls of color but it was because they ran into some predicament at the factory that forced them to release a collection that wasn’t as diverse as they intend it to be. Adele along with another character were planned to be included in the collection but the samples didn’t make it in time for the product unveiling. I believe that Adele who didn’t make it in time is the Adele 3.0 in this set. The factory issues that they faced might have been destined so this big moment for Adele could come into fruition. I guess it happened for a reason. While I don’t like 3.0 as much as 2.0 she actually held her own. As stoic as she is, she is unquestionably striking. The only thing I would change about her is the body that was assigned to her. I would rather have 1.0 have the NU.Face body instead of her. Even though I started collecting Fashion Royalty at that time 3.0 already replaced 2.0, as the years have passed I have come to the conclusion that she is a totally different character from Adele. In my mind she is her own character. The often times snobbish expression of 3.0 isn’t who Adele is in the story line. The height of her nose elongates her face in a similar way to Annik which to me just makes her a different person all together.
Now the face sculpt that truly epitomizes Adele’s character is 2.0. No doubt about it. If you think that Glamazon Adele was beautiful, this version of Adele surpassed her even more. Again this is another redemption moment for her. While I’ve always thought that there’s too much going on with the Paparazzi Bait screening I have come to love this face design as this is one of Adele 2.0’s best. There’s a squint in her eyes and the way that she stares that makes her expressive and I think that Adele should always be as inviting as this. She definitely lures you in. In the promos she appears to have a pink glossy lip but the production version has a nude pearlescent lip color that makes her the most attractive out of the three. Also while I initially questioned the choice of skin tone I’m actually glad that A-Tone was chosen as the rich pigment of this skin tone makes her glow even more in comparison to FR Black which is Adele’s default skin tone. While I do love this blonde hair color on her I did wish that they could have given her a dark brunette hair color instead as this would have been a quintessential Naomi Campbell moment for her even though channeling Beyonce isn’t bad either. They are two of my heroes. So why complain, right? In conclusion, this has been a dream come true for me. The fashions I love and the character I adore. Take it to Integrity Toys to come up with the fiercest, most innovative and most fashion forward collection of dolls. This gift set has it all.

A Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) flies in front of some rather impressive iridescent clouds (they really do look like this!).
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day All!
It seems right around the same time windy weather hit the Front Range of Colorado we started to see more iridescent clouds. I don't know if there's a true correlation, but it would seem that wind could help maintain thin clouds with similar size droplets needed for diffraction to make them shine with color such as we see here. Maybe I should ask Iris, heh.
Lothian purchased fifteen Enviro 400 Hybrids in 2011 and these were Edinburgh's first hybrid buses built by Alexander Dennis in Falkirk.
The fleet group was also the first to have audio service information announcements which, initially operated on Service 10. Nearly six years later they are still to be found mostly on the 10 but sadly one of them, number 212 has become victim to a huge repair cost and at nearly £60,000 this may be too much to fulfil.
As well as the audio announcements, spoken by Debbie Cannon, the Enviros have tv-monitor route diagrams on board which are marvellous for giving the duration to your destination. This practice is very common in other cities but sadly, with the exception of a few handfuls on other new buses since 2011, the operation has got derailed somewhere along the line, much to the irritation of the travelling public.
Painted originally in a Radiance Red over Winter Gold i.e. the standard Weinrot und Weiss colours were modified for a pearlescent paint version, these often troublesome vehicles are now being repainted in the standard generic Weinrot und Weiss Mk II which I think makes the body contours sharper and fresher in appearance.

Until viewing this portrait and doing some light research I never realized how far Sarah Bernhardt was before my time. Growing up and hearing her name so often I figured she had to be from my parents time but this portrait was shown at the Paris Salon of 1876. Apparently fame is not so fleeting for some.
Not to take anything away from this large portrait painting. It was done by Georges Clairin who was the art teacher, lover and lifelong friend of Sarah Bernhardt. This artist/socialite gained admission to the École des Beaux-Arts ten years prior to John Singer Sargent and this Sarah Bernhardt painting was displayed during Sargent’s second year of training. According to the Petit Palais ”In 1876 it heralded the Art Nouveau aesthetic, with its sinuous lines, pearlescent tones and the magnetism of a feminine presence that is both seductive and disquieting.” The painting is also the emblem of their extensive collection.
But I am so impressed by the fact that this “queen of the pose and the princess of the gesture”, who has one of the longest wiki pages going, that her fame and mystery was still so alive as I was growing up in the 1960’s. As much as I had heard her name growing up I always figured my parents and their peers had seen her live on the stage. And I’ll never forget “listen to little Sarah Bernhardt” that was on every mother’s repertoire for when one of the kids acted out.
But the timeline is that Sarah Bernhardt was born a good two generations ahead of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. In fact Sarah Bernhardt’s Barbara Streisandesque farewell tours began in 1901 and she was in her seventies at the start of World War I.
And now, in my inexperience, I wonder if anyone alive today can be compared to Sarah Bernhardt.
The next evolution in armored warfare.
Also I think metalized/pearlescent pieces are harder to photograph than black, because at least black just blends together.

no freckles. Not goth. Eyebrows should not be too long, too short, too thin, too thick, too dark or too light. -___-
Another instruction I got for all the dolls is not to use cheap lashes and to make sure they show up and don't fall off....I have to say my lash application is fairly sturdy. Just dont dunk in water or pull hard on them.
I had several thoughts here. I do a lot of natural looking faceups and so I like to play around a bit if I have the chance. At first I wanted to do a light eyeshadow with classic red lip look but Inti wasn't too keen on that so I went more natural with a warm gold/brown/green eyeshadow look and pearlescent peachy gold lips.
I kind of love her lol.
Eyelashes used are from ForMyDoll Eyelash AA in brown but it is customized by adding individual hairs for a lusher more natural look. Until I find lashes that suit the look I want, this is the method I use and it's very time consuming. Formydoll lashes are $2.50 and the extra customization cost $10. (as i said, very time consuming.)

Getting closer. Folded from a 40cm square of mulberry paper. Increased the grid from 64 to 80, may need to go higher
Dodgy paint job applied after folding. Acrylic ink on the body and vegetable oil on the wings for translucency
Ahhhh she finally arrived! She's just a prize figure by FuRyu (only cost 1400 yen!) but I've been so excited to receive her ever since I saw a picture of her featured at a figure convention months ago. The lovely frills and folds of her dress are made even more beautiful with shining pink and white pearlescent paint, ahhhh ♥_♥ and the giant bow on the back and her transparent veil are stunning!
I was squealing and couldn't wait to open her so I just snapped a quick picture while I was on my lunch break. I can't wait to take some proper photos of her to show off just how lovely she is ^____^ Ahhhh she's soooo cute... OK, breathe, breathe...
Looking at this, I had the sudden realisation that, say, 20 years ago, many of the colours of bricks I used in this model didn't exist. White, black and yellow were around, as were the transparent colours and white obviously (and the blue tiles I used for the license plates), but no tan (or very little of it), dark red, dark blue, sand blue, dark tan, reddish brown, light blueish grey, dark blueish grey, dark orange or pearlescent grey, let alone medium azure. Amazing how far LEGO has come.
Taken for SSC 06/04/2019 - Trees .
I started out taking a shot of the curly wurly tree in our garden ( see link to view )

but was not happy with the clarity of the shot . However , on the approach to the local church there are a number of trees which look quite fascinating , none in leaf yet but so green with a parasitic growth forming globular green patches about four feet diameter . Hands up who knows what the growth is -- for those that are unsure , it is mistletoe !
I am not so sure what the main trees are but there is a good half dozen if not more covered with the bunches of mistletoe !!
Quite what made me choose sepia to present the shot I am not sure , but somehow I liked it .
Welcome to the Mistletoe Pages, a website packed with information about mistletoe; its biology, traditions, cultivation and conservation.
( taken from " The Mistletoe Pages " )
The site is mainly about the ‘original’ mistletoe of northern Europe, and concentrates mostly on its status, management, conservation and traditions in the UK.
This species is technically known as European White-berried Mistletoe, Viscum album. Most people just call it Mistletoe of course.
There are many other mistletoes around the world, including some others used in Christmas and midwinter celebrations, but Europe’s Viscum album is the original and, arguably, the best mistletoe.
Most popular traditions were originally based on this species, so it’s particularly important in folklore.
And it is the only mistletoe that has the distinctive forked branches, paired symmetrical evergreen leaves and pearlescent white berries associated with midwinter and Christmas.
But other mistletoe species feature in the website too, so do have a look around even if you don’t have the original mistletoe growing in your neighbourhood!
and from Wikipedia
Mistletoe is the English common name for most obligate hemiparasitic plants in the order Santalales. They are attached to their host tree or shrub by a structure called the haustorium, through which they extract water and nutrients from the host plant. Their parasitic lifestyle have led to some dramatic changes in their metabolism.
The name mistletoe originally referred to the species Viscum album (European mistletoe, of the family Santalaceae in the order Santalales); it is the only species native to the British Isles and much of Europe. A separate species, Viscum cruciatum, occurs in Southwest Spain and Southern Portugal, as well as Morocco (North Africa) and southern Africa.
Over the centuries, the term has been broadened to include many other species of parasitic plants with similar habits, found in other parts of the world, that are classified in different genera and even families—such as the Misodendraceae and the Loranthaceae.
In particular, the eastern mistletoe native to North America, Phoradendron leucarpum, belongs to a distinct genus of the family Santalaceae. The genus Viscum is not native to North America, but Viscum album has been introduced to California. European mistletoe has smooth-edged, oval, evergreen leaves borne in pairs along the woody stem, and waxy, white berries that it bears in clusters of two to six. The Eastern mistletoe of North America is similar, but has shorter, broader leaves and longer clusters of 10 or more berries.
For Sight and Sound an obvious choice is Rush but as an extra one I have not heard before is Jon and Rick Wakeman

"Curiosity has a way of bringing us back to ourselves." They continue walking, the music around them evolving—soft, dreamlike, and tinged with melancholy, as though the notes are holding memories she’s forgotten.
XOXO

Lumene was born in the 70's and when I was taught in the early 70's I remember that the eyelids used bright pearlescent shades that were spread all the way to the eyebrows and the eyebrow might be highlighted in white. However, eye makeup was softer than it was in the 1960s. But I always made it too strong, I was almost like a Black Mask. The make-up cream was clearly darker than its own skin, on which no powder was used. But I always powder the eyelids and lips before applying makeup to make them stick better. meikissä helmiäinenEyebrow trimming were made with a pen and the interior was popular, which caused me a lot of difficulty. The lashes were turned and the mascara was applied so much that the lashes clumped. Sometimes with an old toothbrush I tried to get the lumps off. Mascara was available in many different shades, I always got the darkest of what was found. Trim and pastel shades were preferred on the lips. The lips had to shine and I got good old advice to apply a colorless petrolatum top to the center of the lips which gave a great shine. . At the end of the decade, the color of the lipstick darkened. Blush was applied as a round spot to the center of the face as a creamy orange or pink pearl. I used a lot of pearls around my eye makeup and lips as an accent. I loved using perle meik the most in the 70s, maybe too much. The eyebrows were really thin I drove them completely off and replaced them with thin dark brown curves. Here the limit of success and failure was the greatest. Long rather than short hair was in vogue. My first wig was long haired. I didn’t know how to care for it and always combed it carefully before putting it to use. Long hair was permanent. Men also took permanent ones and afro was in vogue.
The makeup was liquid and I usually liked it if my face was shiny, making it look the richest, greasy. I chose make-up cream usually darker than my own skin. The powder was not used because the skin was wanted to be natural and radiant. But sometimes when I didn’t have time, or bothered, to apply the make-up cream, I used a richly tinted powder that covered the unevenness of the skin and the beard had to be shaved with real care with the tow or razor I had learned to use. Blush was used extensively under the cheekbone and the shade was often orange.
I often left out the use of blush altogether.
In eye makeup, eyeshadow was applied all the way to the eyebrow. Pearls were my favorites. A wide range of colors was found, including blue green, brown.
The shades of lipstick were pink, beige and orange brown which I prefer the latter the most.

I’ve been working on incorporating what I was taught as a painter in college into my landscape photos. I see so many HDR landscapes with over-saturated colors that I thought I’d take a different route. My main concern as it is every artist who works in a 2D format is to give the illusion of depth, that is, the Z axis. I do this as I was taught as a painter by cooling color as it recedes in the background (usually at a faster rate than what it would be in real life). I soften and reduce detail as the land moves into the background. I also have been experimenting with techniques that reproduce the kinds of pearlescent skies that we used to get using oil glazes.
View across the Lagoon to Sestiere Dorsoduro, from Riva dei Partigiani, Venice, after a rainstorm. And here's information about Dorsoduro, one of the six districts (sestiere) of Venice: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorsoduro Thanks for stopping by. I will respond on Your photostreams. Have a good week! =0)
[Two more images below, Flickr friends. The Mediterranean in its gentle aspect....under soft winter skies.]
Description: I had just arrived in Venice, it was my first afternoon there, and I walked along the waterfront that faces Dorsoduro under a moody winter sky that had just begin to clear from a rainstorm. I had heard so much about Venice it was interesting to start recognizing those aspects of the place that I had read about, and to see for myselft the soft shimmering light Venice is known for.
And there it was in front of my very eyes! I did my best to take a picture that would convey the lyricism of this kind of moment. When I eventually go to print the large file of this photo it will take a little doing to transmit that magical moment to paper. But I will definitely try. In the meantime, here's a peek at one of the reasons I fell in love with Venice, aside from its great architecture. The presence of water all around, and no cars, not one single car. Soft water lapping at the docks, surrounding one everywhere. How peaceful and soothing it is!
