Designer SQ Elsa and Hans boxed, with slipcover.
I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.
I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.
The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.
I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

One more little doodle that took up a bit of my time in January.
Earlier this month I began doodling on the brown paper bag I had opened up and put on my art desk to protect it. I liked my little watery swirls and tore them into section. Then I applied them to a paper that I had painted to clean up my palette. I gessoed the back to help it lay flat and began adding more swirls and different colors, and then more doodling with shapes. I also used my black Pitt pen, a white gel pen, FW acrylics and pearlescents.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I've always had a fancy for slim box, basic Barbies. Maybe that's in part because I never had the patience to save up for a more "deluxe" doll, and so I had many budget dolls as a kid. But I also find that the basic/slim box type Barbies are equally as wonderful quality as their fancier counterparts, just with a few less fixings. I recall seeing Riviera Barbies all the time on eBay, back in 2011/2012, when I first started trying to identify my childhood dolls and their clothes. Therefore, I realized I already had this doll's outfit, prior to purchasing her! This lady was one of the many from the infamous "60 Doll Bin" of 2013. Yes, as the name suggests, this lot hosted nearly 60 dolls! I can't recall if I identified this girl easily, or if she took some time to id. But her straight arms paired with this modern late 90s face, is an interesting, unique combination. Most later 90s dolls have "Shani" arms, not the straight, lifeless ones this gal sports. This was an indicator straight away that this doll was probably a budget one. I do remember how excited I was when I finally confirmed she was a Riviera Barbie, and that I already had her outfit waiting. Most of the dolls from the "60 Doll Bin" were nude or scantily clad. We did not have many of their factory ensembles already at home either, which makes this girl stand out in my memory. Despite her humble origins and craftsmanship, this doll is stunning. She reminds me a bit of my beloved childhood Rio de Janeiro Barbie, aka Autumn!

Pilgrims in a pine temple
Wandering into the silent and bear-black forest, the silvered sliver of a hooking moon set, we filled every silent space with amber-toothed, snarling phantoms and held them at bay with nips of cognac and the click of the shutter. Silhouettes under pearlescent starlight, the big trees are primeval minarets, spires of the oldest and grandest cathedral on Earth. We moved reverently, slowly - pilgrims in a pine temple come in the dark to play witness.
Some amongst these trees were old when men lashed Andromeda to the briny rocks and awaited the leviathan. We've filled the interceding centuries with other lambs led to slaughter, and emerging from darkness, discovered her still radiant, shackled to a constellation that is dying in a corner of the sky. Then as now, we are infants amongst giants, in wonder at skies the big trees have seen reel a million times, shades passing in the night. These are the days of miracle and wonder indeed.
We headed into the Sierras looking for a winter adventure, hoping for giant, snow-bound sentinels holding winter in great, fragrant handfuls. Instead we found beautiful, unseasonable warmth and clear night skies amongst the carpeted and ancient groves. We came for the snow and found so much more in its absence.</p

This card from Jacqueline ( and many of her others using HA Simple Frame) inspired me this weekend. I love the way her cards are so soft and pretty looking. This card of mine, started with a piece of watercoloured paper I made last week,... with some Pearlescent watercolours in purples and gold. It is very shimmery but this doesn't show so well. I stamped the Frame in Dusty Concord distress and then stamped the Hydrangea in the same colour. Used Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord and Shabby Shutters to paint the flower.
Have entered this into Wee Memories Free for All challenge.

The Lincoln Futura was a concept car designed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company. It was built by Ghia entirely by hand in Italy at a cost of $250,000 and displayed on the auto show circuit in 1955.
Futura's styling was extravagantly impractical even by the standards of the '50s, with a double, clear-plastic canopy top, exaggerated hooded headlight pods, and very large, outward-canted tailfins at both ends of the vehicle. Nevertheless, the Futura had a complete powertrain and was fully operable in contrast to many show cars then and now. Its original color was white, and was one of the first Pearlescent color treatments, using ground pearl to achieve the paint effect. The Futura was powered by a 368 cubic inch Lincoln engine and powertrain; the chassis was that of a Lincoln Mark II.
The Futura was a success as a show car, garnering a great deal of favorable publicity for Ford. It was released as a model kit and a toy, and in a much more subdued form its headlight and tailfin motifs would appear on production Lincolns for 1956 and 1957. It even played a prominent part in a movie, 1959's "It Started With A Kiss", starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford. For the movie, it was painted red, as the pearlescent finish did not photograph well.
After that, though, the car would logically have been forgotten and perhaps destroyed, as most show cars of that time were. However, it was somehow sold into the hands of George Barris, one of the great auto customizers. As the car was never titled and was therefore uninsurable, it was parked behind Barris' shop where it sat idle for several years and was allowed to deteriorate.
In 1966 Barris was requested to design a theme car for the Batman television series, Barris then contracted stylist Dean Jeffries to build a car for the show. Jeffries worked on the design and initial fabrication for the Batmobile, using a 1959 Cadillac, but when the studio wanted the car faster than he could deliver, he turned it back to George Barris. With the short notice, Barris thought the Futura might work well, and using Jeffries initial car, decided that its unusual winged shape would be an ideal starting point for the Batmobile. Barris hired Bill Cushenberry to do the metal modifications to the car.
Barris went on to build five duplicates for the show circuit, three of which are covered with a felt-like finish. For the filming of the Batman Series, Barris replaced the Lincoln frame and engine with 1966 Ford Galaxie parts.
This creepy haute couture lizard for Halloween is Phelsuma, a OOAK Inamorata art doll with Nnaji head sculpt and Andro bust type in Charcoal resin.
Her highly editorial make up has a pearlescent green scale pattern running from her brow to the back of her head, red and gold lips, rust coloured eyes and wild eyeshadow covering her brow with multi coloured leaf gold. The look is finished with green sequins as bindi and below her eyes.
The translucent netting dress is a hand stitched with thick scaly clusters of red and green sequins and beads to accentuate feminine form. The netting boots with Classic Stiletto heels have a line of red sequins running down the back seam.

A car I'd always wanted. Aways felt a bit too fragile unfortunately with that Kugelfischer injection engine. Felt a million dollars in it though. This had been painted in Peugeot pearlescent Sorrento Green, which everyone thought looked wonderful but I reckoned didn't suit the car. It also sported incorrect TRX steel wheels and the later V6 shape grille, for those of you keen Peugeot spotters out there. Sold to a Norwegian chappie around 2000, wonder if he's still got it?

The 7th generation Cadillac 62 was restyled and re-engineered under Bill Mitchell for the 1961 model year. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip, along the horizontal plan, and sat between dual headlamps. New forward slanting front pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass were seen. Standard equipment power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, dual back up lights, windshield washer, dual speed wipers, wheel discs, plain fender skirts, outside rearview mirror, vanity mirror and oil filter. Rubberized front and rear coil springs replaced the trouble prone air suspension system. Four-barrel induction systems were now the sole power choice and dual exhaust were no longer available. A mild face lift characterized Cadillac styling trends for 1962. A flatter grille with a thicker horizontal center bar and more delicate cross-hatched insert appeared. Ribbed chrome trim panel, seen ahead of the front wheel housings in 1961, were now replaced with standard cornering lamps and front fender model and series identification badges were eliminated.
This car was the subject of an episode of the Discovery Channel, 'Wheeler Dealers, starring Edd China and Mike Brewer where repairable classics are are repaired and restored to a budget, and then sold on. This Cadillac was the subject of an extensive rebuild and respray in pearlescent green and white paintwork with hand painted pin-striping and gold leaf artwork. It sits on Ridetech air suspension and new whitewall tyres. The interior has also been restored with fresh trim in white with green alcantara headlining.
This car was offered at the H + H Brooklands Auction 8th March 2014 selling for a hammer price of £ 13664

Whew! It has been a while since I've been able to upload anything.
This is a painting I did for my current show at Evolve Studios.
It is actually pearlescent white on white. Hard to photograph though so it comes out looking like a grey background but it really is white.
This painting was supposed to go in the private treatment room but one of the practitioners there liked it so much she put it in her room!

The transition is magnificent... from lustrous pearly white, 4 petaled flowers, with pink pearlescent centers, purple hooked stamens, dots of golden pollen, and more pearly buds, pink at the base, waiting to bloom.
Petals falling and highlighting rosy axis support stems and sepal cups from which magenta seeds will form.
Magenta and purple berry like seeds dramatizing the brilliant rose tones of the stems and deeper tones.
Rose Grape Medinilla... a tropical beauty! Its life cycle... magnificent!

This majestic V12 - the only one ever built by Toyota - represents the pinnacle of Japanese luxury and discretion. Finished in the rare "Goshikigai Blue Mica", a deep shade that reveals a subtle pearlescent shimmer in sunlight, and featuring a wool interior with lace curtains, this model exudes understated elegance and craftsmanship. Each Century was hand-assembled with an almost ceremonial approach at Toyota's exclusive Higashi-Fuji workshop. Target audience : top government officials, industrial magnates, and members of the Imperial Household.

The Shadownlands Collection is based on science fiction stories by Dyan Bender.
The second character in the collection is Fyre, whose secret name is Ardala. She is the adopted daughter of a wealthy Healer and direct descendant of the last ruler of what is often called the Great City.
She is a Highborn, a race the developed from Human close intermarriage of the ruling families. Thru centuries of narrowed bloodlines a race of physically beautiful and mentally gifted people consolidated power. Marked physically by extremely pale pearlescent skin and blazing red hair with oddly metallic quality. Highborn are marked by a drive to acquire power and are gifted with something other races call Charisma.
Ardala is young, she has gained her full height but is still not filled out completely. She has been able to pass as a boy for years. Her eyes are blue, the warm blue of shallow seas, and bright with curiosity and good humor. Although wealthy now for many years she and her mother moved often and she has learned to easily adapt to new locations...she enjoys learning about new people, customs and cultures. She is gentle, and her gentle nature shows in her expression. She completely lacks the imperious and commanding nature that typically marks Highborn, but she is just starting to understand that she has personal power, she is starting to learn that she can command the attention of others.
She wears her silk finery, wide pants of teal silk that were left a bit short in the ankles in her last growth spurt; silk slippers encrusted with brass sequins; a silk chiffon vest draping over her young shoulders with fine brass chains; a bra heavily embellished with tiger eye gems, brass and gold, forming hawk motives that symbolize and foreshadow her soaring potential. Her hips, neck and intricately braided hair are adorned with gold chains.
The doll is a Andro Inamorata Nnaji in Milk skintone.
This is a commissioned bespoken OOAK doll and not for sale.

Do not give perfect makeup on your wedding day although the humidity and weather conditions do not put it easy. Winter Wedding Makeup Tips Show off a radiant face it is easier than you think if you follow a few tips with which you will achieve a glowing, comfortable and durable makeup.
A makeup natural, simple and with whom you feel yourself is essential to the day of your wedding. Brides usually always go for a look discreet that enhances the beauty natural each, no eccentricities for one of the happiest days of your life. If your wedding takes place in winter, a season in which pastel tones and less living are the protagonists, we want to offer a few tips to shine with light. Do not give up just perfect because the weather is not with you.
Eyes and lips:
Winter is the season when there is more moisture in the atmosphere. For the lipstick not dry, cracked skin and eyeshadows are not the quarter, we recommend lip long lasting and apply a pre-base or translucent powder on the eyelid before putting the shade. They are also good ideas, eye shadows waterproof, remain intact until you decide desmaquillarte. Neither tears nor inclement weather gets you to stop look impeccable. As for the colors used, the coldest tones, such as pearlescent and metallic, will be ideal in this season. Pink and violet are the most recommended for brown eyes, blue, gray and brown, for people with light eyes. The key to perfect lips is on hydration. The best advice we can give is to apply a generous layer of lip balm night before the wedding: the lips perfect are insured. On the big day, nothing better than a lipstick moisturizing effect on roses, raspberry or, why not, clear tones. We recommend without the gloss, since only hard and not too pleasant for the makeout session, do not you think Winter Wedding Makeup Tips?
Makeup base:
One of the most important parts when makeup is the face. Use a good base makeup is essential and if it is intended that its effect lasts many hours. To the base is well fixed to the skin, it must be perfectly clean and hydrated and, if possible, have made an exfoliation, the previous days, to remove dead skin and eliminate dry areas. A base was mattifying and long - the term is perfect for the big day. Despite the nerves, the rush, and sweating by changes in temperature between indoors and room temperature, the skin remains intact, as newly made up. Always use a base the same color as your skin, so makeup will be more discreet, and the base will be like your second skin. The more naturally more I'll stand your beauty Winter Wedding Makeup Tips.
Haves:
Do not forget to include in your toiletry bag beauty an illuminating a concealer and Introjects bar to reduce the imperfections caused by the cold in the nose and chin. Do not employ powders sun, reserve for the return of the honeymoon, which will undoubtedly come with some color. Over on the Penny Black Blog the challenge for Octoberfest is to make a Holiday card using a stamp from the Christmas 2010 Catalog. Luckily this stamp I have is from it, I used a HA music background stamp and some pp from a pack from 2 years ago. The Little mice have been coloured with Pearlescent paints, matted onto gold paper and then added to the card. The sentiment has been embossed in a copper colour.

"Celebration" is the theme this week for Macro Mondays. To celebrate I have selected a bevy of colorful and shiny ribbons to illustrate the theme because they are so festive looking.
Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set, with slipcover and acrylic cover off, so the dolls are in the clear. They are secured to the cardboard backing, the plastic supports and the built in doll stands.

The Limited Edition Elsa Doll, released in stores in North America on March 3, 2015. My doll is #2942 of 5000. She is in jeweled purple felt (made from faux wool). This is the outfit she wore as an 18 year old when saying good bye to her parents before their overseas journey. She is wearing ice blue jeweled satin gloves, which help repress her ice powers. Her hands are clasped together. Her pose and look are that of a sternly repressed nature. She is standing in front a purple window of the Castle, which is closed, as she is closed to the outside world.
She is wearing black flats with floral decoration. Her jacket is pinned to her dress, which I left alone, as it helps to keep the jacket from opening up. There was a large amount of tissue paper stuffing under her skirt. I had to remove her from the doll stand before I could remove the tissue.
She has shiny pearlescent skin, and her skin tone is between that of Coronation Elsa and Snow Queen Elsa. Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.
