This colorful and lively event is filled with music, food, sweets, offerings and flowers. The Barbie® Dia De Muertos series honors the traditions, symbols and rituals often seen throughout this time. Barbie® doll is a vision with her face painted in a captivating calavera design. Her blush-colored lace dress is embellished with tiny pearlescent details and opens slightly to reveal a second layer embroidered with floral and skeleton accents.Golden highlights in her hair shimmer beneath a crown of skeleton hands holding roses and marigolds. May 2020 Barbie® Dia De Muertos doll become a treasured tradition for your celebration.

Juist.

Limited, they say. But how many have been made is nowhere to be found. Under the hood are no changes, there you still can find the 1.6 turbo with 200 horsepower. From the outside it is recognizable by the pearlescent white paint and black accents. But most of it is changed to the name of this hot hatch, which has become ridiculously long: Renault Clio R.S. 200 EDC Série Limitée Monaco GP. Right.

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set, with slipcover and acrylic cover off, so the dolls are in the clear. They are secured to the cardboard backing, the plastic supports and the built in doll stands.

I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.

I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.

The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.

I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

Block captaining is significant to me and my family. It was the first public service role my fiancé ever held when he was eleven-years-old and he has made them an annual tradition in North Philadelphia neighborhoods, where I support and visually document. At our 2021 MLK Day of Service Block Cleanup organized with social media personality @YaFaveTrashman for the blocks south of 17th Street and Jefferson, a spritely elder sermonized as loudly as the silver LOVE JESUS pin in her navy turban sparkled about how the cleaning has to continue. As we locked eyes on that corner in front of Jay St. Food Market, she handed me an undated 135-word poem capitalized as BROOM AND GROOM, signed “Gail Gamble, Block Captain.” Carrying a silent battery-operated blue pearlescent boombox DIGITAL cd player in one hand, Ms. Gamble seemed oblivious to the nearly twenty tons of trash, collected by a citywide coalition of nonprofits, nearby politicians, small businesses, aspiring electeds, and corporate franchises like Starbucks providing free coffee to the neighbors. Mostly students and people under the age of 40 broke their quarantining and studying to serve this single-day public purpose. The old-timer was not satisfied with this day of action and kept handing out her poems, which read: This flyer is written to every neighbor!! Individually, as we gather collectively to become a community!! Wake Up!! Take notice!! Have some Pride!! Stop being content with letting all this trash Fly! Surely it is not falling from the sky! The sanitation Department is doing their job! So, why must we go on living like slobs?! When you travel all over the City, It is such a pity! Some areas are so trifling! Come on Now! Show some class! Let’s start cleaning up all this trash! It is time to change, our mentality! Don’t let TRASH be our Reality Have some pride and start cleaning up on the outside, So let us bust the move! Grab a broom and start to groom! Our neighborhood!! And it will be much better, if we all work together! What we discovered in the recovery of eight vacant, under-groomed, weed-infested lots along the block was that Mrs. Gamble was right to be harsh. But the problem ran deeper than the line in her poem, “The sanitation Department is doing their job!” These lots have absentee landowners not beholden to trash enforcement like residential neighbors with landlords. Thus, neighbors dealt with far more than everyday trash being dumped: entire toilets, hardly-damaged silk-embroidered couch, basketballs, and more. These lots equal reflections of the environmental injustice and everyday individual detachment that littering symbolizes. Put differently, her pep talk could use some policy to go along with it. Even in this spectacular act of correcting for the years of neglect to these lots, it required a mental shift from the Sanitation Department. They agreed to come to pick up the trash with an already mostly full truck, assuming it was only an average block cleanup. We ended up needing reinforcements hauling away the hundreds of dutifully-organized toddler-sized trash bags: far more than the City estimated that a single block cleanup could muster. These were not just blocks to be groomed; they were makeshift waste sites marbled in between not just low-income homes but shelters like Lutheran Settlement House, convenience stores like Jay St. Food Market, churches like New Generation Church of Christ, and even around the corner from Senator Street’s District Office. There was only so much they and warriors like Ms. Gamble could do: The City would also have to be a better neighbor.

A two-piece design, again stemming from my son wanting me to make something for him. I quite like the form of this crab. Despite the apparent simplicity, it involves some complex folding. The surface of the paper was finished with a combination of acrylic inks, pearlescent inks, and acrylic medium.

Our latest Barbie Birthday Wishes Doll brings a soft, sweet, and dreamy vibe with a beautiful pink strapless dress. The satin bodice blossoms into a voluminous skirt made of gathered tulle. A sheer overlay cinches at the waist with a white ribbon and then floats down to graze the floor. Her luxurious blonde hair is pulled back with a pearlescent headband, which complements her earrings. The customizable packaging offers you a place to write a personalized message to a beloved Barbie fan, making this special occasion doll a perfect gift.

In late 1965 20th Century Fox Television and William Dozier's Greenway Productions contracted renowned Hollywood car customizer Dean Jeffries to design and build a "Batmobile" for their upcoming Batman TV series. He started customizing a 1959 Cadillac, but when the studio wanted the program on the air in January 1966, and therefore filming sooner than he could provide the car, Jeffries was paid off, and the project went to George Barris.

What became the iconic Batmobile used in the 1966–1968 live action television show and its film adaptation was a customized vehicle that originated as a one-off 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car,[52] created by Ford Motor Company lead stylists Bill Schmidt, Doug Poole Sr., and John Najjar and their design team at the Lincoln Styling Department.

In 1954, the Futura prototype was built entirely by hand by the Ghia Body Works in Turin, Italy, at a reported cost of US$250,000—the equivalent of approximately US$2.5 million in 2021.[55] It made its debut in pearlescent Frost-Blue white paint on January 8, 1955, at the Chicago Auto Show.[56] In 1959, sporting a fresh red paint job, the Futura was featured in the film It Started with a Kiss, starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford.

Barris was trying to get Hollywood's attention with the Futura, which he had purchased from Ford for the nominal sum of $1.00 and "other valuable consideration",[57] but aside from its film appearance, the Futura had been languishing in his Hollywood shop for several years. With only three weeks to finish the Batmobile (although in recent years Jeffries says that his car was dropped because he was told it was needed in "a week and a half",[58] he was quoted in 1988 as saying "three weeks"[59] as well), Barris decided that, rather than building a car from scratch, it would be relatively easy to transform the distinctive Futura into the famous crime-fighting vehicle. Design work was conducted by Herb Grasse, working as an associate designer for Barris.

Barris hired Bill Cushenbery to do the metal modifications to the car and its conversion into the Batmobile was completed in just three weeks, at a reported cost of US$30,000. They used the primer-painted, white-striped car in October 1965, for a network presentation reel. Shortly afterward, the car was painted gloss black with "fluorescent cerise" stripes. Barris retained ownership of the car, estimated to be worth $125,000 in 1966 dollars,[60] leasing it to 20th Century Fox and Greenway Productions for use in the series.

When filming for the series began, several problems arose due to the car's age: it overheated, the battery died, and the expensive Mickey Thompson tires repeatedly failed. By mid-season, the engine and transmission were replaced with those of a Ford Galaxie. The most frequent visual influence of this car is that later Batmobiles usually have a rear rocket thruster that fires as the car starts up.

The Batmobile from the 1966–1968 live action television show and its film adaptation began life as a Ford concept car called the Lincoln Futura, built over a decade earlier in 1955. The body of the Futura was fabricated by Ghia of Italy, whose artisans hammered the car's panels over logs and tree stumps carved as forms to create the sleek manta ray-like car. In 1959, the Futura was featured sporting a fresh red paint job in the film It Started With A Kiss, starring Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford. In 1965, ABC-TV chose famed Hollywood customizer George Barris to design a "Batmobile" for their soon-to-go-into-production Batman show. Dean Jeffries worked on the design and initial fabrication for the Batmobile, using a 1959 Cadillac, but when the studio wanted the car faster than he could provide, he turned it back to George Barris. With only three weeks to finish, Barris decided that rather than build a car from scratch, it would be best to transform the Lincoln Futura (bought from Ford for $1.00) into the famous crime fighting vehicle of TV's caped crusader. Barris hired Bill Cushenberry to do the metal modifications to the car. When filming for the series began, several problems arose due to the age of the car: it overheated, the battery went dead, and the expensive Mickey Thompson tires kept blowing. By mid season, the engine and transmission were replaced with a Ford Galaxie. The most frequent visual influence of this car is that later Batmobiles usually have a rear rocket thruster that usually fires as the car makes a fast start.

Gadgets

The extra-large bat-trunk in the Batmobile holds various crime-fighting equipment and has plenty of space to fit eight people comfortably. The windshield is bulletproof. And of course, the Batmobile is not without its helpful gadgets:

Bat-glove Compartment

Infrared Bat-dust (glows in light and in dark, but only visible when viewed through the Batmobile specially tinted windshield)

Emergency Bat-turn Lever (releases the Batmobile parachute that enables quick turns)

Bat-deflector (diverts a criminal tracking signal, leading them to a miniature Batcave in the middle of nowhere)

Bat-ray (can do many things, such as open van doors)

Super-powered Bat-magnet (for opening steel doors from a distance)

Odor Sensitometer Radar Circuit (puts a certain scent on the radar screen)

Ultrasonic Recorder (also records regular sounds)

Batmobile Parachute Pickup Service Signal (calls aforementioned service to pick the Batmobile parachute off the city street)

Emergency Bat-trunk Lock

Bat-zooka (can fire explosive blasts, or is used to fire bat-ropes to tops of very tall buildings)

Anti Mechanical Bat-ray (renders mechanical apparati useless)

Battering Ram (also known as the Bat-ram, used for knocking down reinforced doors)

Library Paste Bat-dissolving Switch

Bat-safety Belt

Bat-radarscope

Bat-alert Buzzer (in all Bruce's cars, indicates when the Batphone in the Batcave is ringing)

Bat-scope (TV screen that can be used to monitor someone's movements)

Anti-theft Activator (can be disguised as the Start button, fires fireworks from the car)

Anti-fire Activator (fills Batmobile with extinguishing foam)

Bat-ray Projector (fires Blu-ray from headlights that shut down a car's ignition)

Hidden Bat-laser Beam

Homing Receiver Scope

Inflatable Batmobile (kept in Batmobile for use as a decoy)

Batphone

Batman and Robin seats

This Batmobile original gadgets included the nose-mounted chain slicer, lasers, rockets, an on-board telephone, radar, dash monitor, on-board computer, and police beacon. If needed, the Batmobile is capable of a quick 180° "bat-turn" thanks to two rear-mounted 10' parachutes, and it is equipped with a smoke emitter and a nail spreader to discourage pursuit. Some changes were made during the run of the series, including different license plates, a change in steering wheel, and the addition of extra gadgets such as the rear-facing camera and battering ram.

Background is made from Fadeless Art Board. Applied Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks directly to my non-stick craft sheet. Misted with water and dipped the background in, wiggled it, and dried with a heat tool. Did this multiple times to create a watercolor-look background.

Second-generation stamped Hero Arts S5435 Graph Background using a Tsukineko Memento Dew Drop in Sweet Plum, inked only around the edges. Stamped tall botanical with tiny leaves from Hero Arts CL428 Earth Flowers using Tea Dye Distress Ink twice. (This part is hard to see, behind the embossed areas.)

Next stamped the "happy" entry from Hero Arts CL479 Dictionary Greeting using Spiced Marmalade in the top left. Stamped leaves from the edge of Hero Arts S5037 DesignBlock Tree along the bottom using a Tsukineko VersaMagic Dew Drop in Oasis Green as greenery.

Mixed gold Perfect Pearls with water on my non-stick craft sheet, and flicked it randomly over the background for shine. (It is hard to see in the photo, but they are there. If you look to the upper left of the butterfly, you may see a few.)

Stamped Hero Arts CG180 Metal Flourish using VersaMark watermark ink and heat embossed with two colors: Ranger Verdigris and Zing Copper Glitter embossing powders. Stamped "birthday" vertically and "happy" in the upper right from Hero Arts CL371 Essential Messages using Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.

Made a faux epoxy butterfly by stamping a butterfly from Hero Arts CL115 Designer Butterflies using a Tsukineko Brilliance Dew Drop (pearlescent ink) in Rocket Red Gold onto watercolor paper. Once the pigment ink was dry, I rubbed Spiced Marmalade ink over top. Then I cut it out and applied multiple layers of UTEE. Attached with glue dots for dimension. (See close-up.)

Thanks for looking! :-)

As Britney Spears once said – “Oops!...I Did It Again”, LOL... Well, here is another completed custom painted guitar project I’ve finished. This time I decided to go with a Flame theme in purple hues, actually those colors are a Pearlescent Lavender to Plum burst, with some vivid peril Violet Candy mixed in. I’ve also hand painted those Silver Flames with some added Holographic glitter I’d blended into the metallic silver paint, so it really sparkles in the sunlight. Additionally, I’ve added many special touches to this wonderful Stratocaster. I do hope you like it as much as I do! Impressive Mercedes SLS AMG, 2011... Pearlescent White with Red Leather that I spotted on a Car dealer nearby here...Seeing this car "for real" changed my idea about it. I´m liking it more and more now, specially on this color...There was a SLR Roadster on the same dealer, and I still think the SLR is more beautiful, but the SLS definitely has grown on me.

Anemone stings can be deadly to fish. This is a purple tang, but I don't think I used a bright enough blue for the fish. This card is the weird mishmash of starting it out as a whimsical drawing on the right, and suddenly going realistic on the left :-/...

If you are an accurate and consistent paper folder, but are new to unit origami, and you would like to make your own box, I would recommend her book "Origami Boxes" [# ISBN-10: 0870408216 - # ISBN-13: 978-0870408212] as an excellent introduction. Connecting the units together can be a bit fiddly at first, and the book also includes designs for more simple square and triangular boxes, which give the opportunity to practice and develop the skills needed for doing more complex assembly. Judging by the high prices [as of March 2012], on bookfinder the book seems to be out of print, but only relatively recently, as I bought a new copy a few years ago from Amazon, so it is worth looking around for. The design may also be published in other books. (Also note that there is also a different design for a similar hexagonal box using only two sheets of paper each for the lid and base.

She has also created and written about very much more complex models. "Unit Origami: Multidimensional Transformations" [ISBN-10: 0870408526 - ISBN-13: 978-0870408526] is considered a classic text on the subject.

Paper making was a traditional supplemental business for farmers in Japan during the winter. The very cold water during that season enabled the fibres in the pulp to be soaked without becoming subject to decay, and some also argue that cold shrinks the fibres, creating a finer, crisper paper.

Pink liquid waterpaint (Ecoline) with white acrylic FW ink on the background, Black pearlescent FW ink for the giraffes.

The base of this bead is a pale brown or amber clear glass; when I applied the silver-rich glass on top of it, the glass became a pale, almost pearlescent colour which reflect light through the core and makes it appear to have a golden glow, hence the name "Golden Dragonskin".

The "scales" vary in shades of delicate colours from pale blues and aquas through to pearlescent pinks and purples.

Unless the President of the United States hires out his limousines to hen parties and weddings i'm not sure why they would be seen in an all white vehicle! Matchbox obviously have to maximise the investment they've made in a casting which means plenty of new colours to keep the collectors and kids happy which obviously explains this. Taking into account this is a toy I actually really like it and it does actually look good in this pearlescent white finish. The Cadillac One limo is a great casting with plenty of detailing and those attractive chrome disc wheels, blacked out windows showing no interior probably isn't really an issue for this type of vehicle either. Bought from Morrisons. Mint and boxed.

I found this huge old silver plated tray and gave it a kind of shabby cottage makeover! Painted ivory with pearlescent white highlights and sweet little hand painted pink roses. Cottage sweet!

Judging by the amount of these Majorette Ford Mustang Boss models in my collection they obviously made a very good impression on me when they first began to appear on the pegs of Poundworld back in March 2016! The virtues of Majorette quality and attention to detail have long been appreciated by collectors especially when you compare this to a similar priced Hot Wheels equivalent. A dazzling pearlescent white paint finish with neat contrasting black stripes help to flatter the crisp and well sculptured body which for its budget status features clear plastic lenses and impressive levels of detailing to the rear. Mint and boxed.

Just picked up a replacement Alfa Romeo. This one is a SportWagon and is pearlescent green, which looks good.

One more little doodle that took up a bit of my time in January.

Earlier this month I began doodling on the brown paper bag I had opened up and put on my art desk to protect it. I liked my little watery swirls and tore them into section. Then I applied them to a paper that I had painted to clean up my palette. I gessoed the back to help it lay flat and began adding more swirls and different colors, and then more doodling with shapes. I also used my black Pitt pen, a white gel pen, FW acrylics and pearlescents.

The project I was working on last weekend - terminado! Three aquamarine pages, eyelet bound in a red backing with a vellum overlay.

All the paper is Stardream, a mica-coated pearlescent stock which is made using pulp sourced from sustainable, well-managed forests. And it is absolutely beautiful. Photos cannot capture the soft, shimmery loveliness of the paper.

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set, with slipcover and acrylic cover off, so the dolls are in the clear. They are secured to the cardboard backing, the plastic supports and the built in doll stands. Next we split open the backing, so we can detach the dolls from the backing. The backing is then laid flat, and cut off from the base. The dolls are still attached to the plastic supports and doll stands. Next we free Hans from the display stand, and lay him down. He still have remnants of various factory restraints that have to be removed. Then he is fully deboxed.
