Pilgrims in a pine temple

Wandering into the silent and bear-black forest, the silvered sliver of a hooking moon set, we filled every silent space with amber-toothed, snarling phantoms and held them at bay with nips of cognac and the click of the shutter. Silhouettes under pearlescent starlight, the big trees are primeval minarets, spires of the oldest and grandest cathedral on Earth. We moved reverently, slowly - pilgrims in a pine temple come in the dark to play witness.

Some amongst these trees were old when men lashed Andromeda to the briny rocks and awaited the leviathan. We've filled the interceding centuries with other lambs led to slaughter, and emerging from darkness, discovered her still radiant, shackled to a constellation that is dying in a corner of the sky. Then as now, we are infants amongst giants, in wonder at skies the big trees have seen reel a million times, shades passing in the night. These are the days of miracle and wonder indeed.

We headed into the Sierras looking for a winter adventure, hoping for giant, snow-bound sentinels holding winter in great, fragrant handfuls. Instead we found beautiful, unseasonable warmth and clear night skies amongst the carpeted and ancient groves. We came for the snow and found so much more in its absence.</p

Behold the third and final doll to enchant the Barbie® Mythical Muse™ Series. Dragon Empress™ Barbie® doll is a bold, statuesque beauty with a dramatic wingspan. She wears a scale-detailed bodice in metallic mint-green and pink ombre. Beneath it is a glittered, scale-printed skirt with a slit that reveals her pearlescent, heroic heels. Her headpiece, in matching pastel ombre hues, crowns her cascading fantastical hair. A dragon-inspired cuff coils her arm, completing the look. Poised to take flight to a distant land, Dragon Empress™ Barbie® doll makes the perfect gift for collectors and fantasy lovers.

A more than worthy follow up to its pearlescent white debut release in this latest Case F recolour. The Matchbox 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S continues to impress collectors with its stealthy good looks, good features and well finished. Found recently at Tesco. Mint and boxed.

Designer SQ Elsa and Hans deboxed, standing side by side. Elsa is supported by a Kaiser stand. Hans is free standing.

I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.

I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.

The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.

I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

Deboxing my LE Wedding Cinderella. The cardboard backing has been removed from the inner box, and is free standing. The doll is attached to the backing by wires and plastic ties. The background image is the exterior stairs of the Castle at night. She is then removed from the backing, but is still attached to a plastic spacer. She is standing next to the backing.

On my second attempt to get the the Limited Edition Wedding Cinderella 17'' Doll from eBay, I finally got her! I got her with the help of a fellow collector. She is #450 of 500, and was originally sold by the Japan Disney Store. There is a Japanese sticker on the bottom of the box. She was shipped double boxed, and very well packed. She arrived in perfect condition.

She is very beautiful, and has a serene expression, rather than the grumpy pout of the LE Ballgown Cinderella doll. Her lips have a slight smile, which is part of why she has a more pleasant expression than the other doll, who shares the same face mold. She is glancing in the opposite direction of the Ballgown Cinderella, and her skin has a matte surface, rather than the shiny pearly surface of the Ballgown doll. Her pale yellow wedding gown has many differently sized and colored rhinestones enhancing the printed floral pattern. There are also several small jeweled plastic butterflies in the skirt, hidden amongst the flowers. The decorations continue throughout the back of the dress. There are also faux pearl buttons on her sleeves and on the back of her bodice. Her skirt is very full with a long train, and is in three differently colored layers. Under her skirts is a 3/4 length single layer tulle petticoat. Attached to her hair is an oversized pale yellow sheer chiffon veil. She has golden earrings and a jeweled golden tiara. Her wedding ring is a floral design with five golden beads; it is pinned to her hand. She has the old style legs, with fixed ankles. She is wearing simple ivory heels, with no decorations.

I will be posting a full set of detailed photos of this doll. She will be shown boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed, both by herself and with other Disney Store dolls.

Peter Paul Rubens

Rubens, his wife Hélène Fourment & their son Frans [1635] - Metmuseum AN 1981.238

The artist, his wife Helena, and one of their sons appear within an idealized version of the garden at the mansion Rubens built in his native city of Antwerp. The leather strap across Rubens’s chest alludes to his right, as a nobleman, to carry a sword, while the rhyming ribbon tied across his son’s chest playfully positions him as his father’s heir. There was a nearly forty-year age gap between Rubens and his second wife, whom contemporaries widely recognized as his muse and model. The juxtaposition of her plump and pearlescent young hand with his ruddy and weathered one emphasizes both their physical disparities and their physical connection.

My 2015 Elsa Limited Edition 17'' Doll, fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by the included doll stand.

The Limited Edition Elsa Doll, released in stores in North America on March 3, 2015. My doll is #2942 of 5000. She is in jeweled purple felt (made from faux wool). This is the outfit she wore as an 18 year old when saying good bye to her parents before their overseas journey. She is wearing ice blue jeweled satin gloves, which help repress her ice powers. Her hands are clasped together. Her pose and look are that of a sternly repressed nature. She is standing in front a purple window of the Castle, which is closed, as she is closed to the outside world.

She is wearing black flats with floral decoration. Her jacket is pinned to her dress, which I left alone, as it helps to keep the jacket from opening up. There was a large amount of tissue paper stuffing under her skirt. I had to remove her from the doll stand before I could remove the tissue.

She has shiny pearlescent skin, and her skin tone is between that of Coronation Elsa and Snow Queen Elsa. In bright lighting, her skin is iridescent with a a purple sheen. Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

Doll in photo:

-Girl of the Year 2022 Corinne Tan

I admit that I often get very carried away when it comes to accessorizing my dolls. I know that my designs are tacky, unrealistic, and probably very unappealing to most other people. That being said, I can reign it in if I feel necessary. When I purchased Corinne a few days before 2022 as a preorder, I already started contemplating the earrings I'd make her. Of course, I didn't order my doll with pierced ears. Rather, this was a procedure I performed myself once she arrived in the mail. All but three of my ladies with pierced ears were done by me (Ivy and Elizabeth came with pierced ears, and Gabriela's previous owner had hers done at an American Girl Store). Anyways, once full pictures were released of Corinne, I knew I HAD to keep her jewelry delicate. This doll is a stunning work of art on her own. Unlike my plain Jane Girl of Today dolls from childhood, Corinne didn't "need" the bedazzling of handmade jewels. I didn't want to distract for her special head mold, amazing features, and teal hair. Instead, I wanted to create earrings that worked with her collection and complimented her appearance. There are occasions where I go crazy with my designs to disguise a doll's poor condition, cheap quality, or plain appearance. I also noted that Corinne's collection was done in all pastel colors...something else to take into consideration.

The earrings on the left were made to go with her "meet" outfit. The sweater is plain white, but the leggings are insanely metallic. I didn't have any beads that were a perfect match, so instead I dug around my supplies and found things that complimented these accouterments. I used pink to coordinate with the hat, teal for the boots, and picked things in a metallic or pearlescent sheen to go with the leggings. I tried to keep my bead selection small in size, so the earrings would be delicate.

The pair on the left was made to go with Corinne's Casual Outfit. I'm not sure how this is so "casual" given the very pimp like fur coat. It reminds me of Bratz clothes circa 2002. Anyways, Since the coat is so thick and has a collar, I had to consider this when designing earrings. I love the way the catalogue showed Corinne's hair styled with this get up--in a high ponytail with the headband on. Since her ears would be fully visible, and the coat would be super puffy, I kept these earrings delicate as well. The star beads were actually pilfered from a children's bracelet I bought at a consignment store. Whenever I think of it, I always inspect the jewelry selection at secondhand places. The bracelets had super tiny stars, which were perfectly sized for dolls (and they were only 25 cents each...so I bought a few in different colors and with varying beads). I could have gone for purple pom poms to match the fur on the jacket. But I thought that would be way too gaudy (even for me). Plus, I don't have pom poms in pastel colors right now. Instead, I mainly was inspired by the geometric print on her leggings. That's why I went with stars, since they are shapes. I didn't have any small triangle beads to use instead. I also incorporated some of the same teal metallic beads that I used for her "meet" pair. For my Girl of the Years and historical characters with pierced ears, I try to make their earrings cohesive as a set (much like how their collections are designed). I also added little crystals (I think some of these were also from kids' bracelets), to add some color to the earrings. I appreciate that the stars themselves are translucent, since they give the earrings a more airy, light feel (less overwhelming, since this outfit is already such a statement).

I love it when inspiration comes from many places! A Blog Named Hero has a challenge going on now to make your own embellishment, so I had started to make this flower a few days ago... no idea what I was going to do with it.

THEN Barb and Marcy came up with this fun challenge and I knew! The problem was how do I represent the rest of their inspiration photo?

Apparently, you have to play in a Hero Arts Scramble! Linda hosted this (www.flickr.com/groups/heroarts/discuss/72157632958889306/ ) fun challenge yesterday and asked us to use embossing - heat or dry - and she had a beautiful card for which she had embossed a sentiment on vellum.

Here you see the results:

Hero Arts Stamps: Blossom Art and It's Your Day

Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug Spots and Dots, colored in with Memento and Tombow markers then run through CB onto Neenah Solar White.

The flower was stamped twice and heat embossed in white onto a piece of glossy CS which already had been tinted with Eggplant and Purple Twilight alcohol inks. After fussy cutting both, I inked the backs with Hero Arts Grape Juice mid tone ink, mounted one over the other with a double layer of foam adhesive and curled the petals. (I colored the edges of the foam purple as well.) The center was created by layering two snowflakes made with a Martha Stewart punch out of pearlescent white CS.

The HA sentiment white embossed on green vellum is meant to reflect the ribbon from the inspiration photo. do the little dots in the font remind you of stitching too?

***My doll is wearing an outfit from a 1996 Gift Pack Fashions set (stock number 68585-91).

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I seemed to have a knack for finding the blonde Pretty in Plaid Barbies in 2016. I found both of my dolls in back to back bins ironically. By the next flea market season, my Pretty in Plaid Barbie luck was still going strong. In May, I ended up finding my red head variation in another lot. This cutie was part of the "$5 Bin Bonanza." Sadly, unlike my two blondes, she did not have her original dress. But, she was so much fun to dress up in another outfit. Dare I say she is the prettiest of the bunch?!! Seriously, her copper hair and bright green eyes make her a true knockout. She may have been one of the oldest dolls from the "$5 Bin Bonanza," but surprisingly she was in great shape still. Poor Barbie did have some staining on her face--particularly over one of her eyebrows and on her nose. They were dark blue/black smudges, which luckily all came out after a short stain removal treatment. I think that she is the grandest of all my Pretty in Plaid Barbies, and I am so happy to have so many different variations of her...now if only I could get a hold of the African American gal!

GLOSSARY below.

Shell description.

The matt, opaque, solid shell grows sublittorally to 50 mm high and 25 mm wide (Fretter & Graham, 1985) fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2op3qCC, but most intertidal specimens are less than 30 mm high fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2op6v13 . The body-whorl is about 75% of the shell’s height. Those in the Mediterranean are larger (Jeffreys, 1867), occasionally up to 65 mm high (Pers. comm. Jakov Prkić, 18 March 2023), are generally more colourful and ornate fig. 03 flic.kr/p/2op3Kef & fig. 04 flic.kr/p/2op6tN8 and there are some differences in body features. The differences may be geographical variation, but it would be helpful if differing specimens could be molecularly sequenced.

Each of the tumid whorls has an angled shoulder and eight or nine widely spaced, strong costal ribs which are crossed by two major, rounded spiral cords on the spire whorls and by eight or nine on the body-whorl fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2op6th8 ; minor cords are also present. There are low knobs where the cords and costal ribs intersect. Numerous flounced growth lines cross the spiral cords and grooves and give the whole shell an imbricate appearance fig. 06 flic.kr/p/2op6t35 & fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2op8Aq1 unless eroded, when they survive longest in the grooves fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2op3qCC . On adults the most recently formed costal rib acts as a labial varix which thickens the palatal lip of the aperture fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2op6th8 unless there has been recent new growth fig. 06 flic.kr/p/2op6t35 . The sutures between the whorls are deep and sinuous. The sculpture becomes more pronounced with age. The shell exterior is yellowish white fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2op6th8 with varying amounts of brown which may create bands associated with the spiral cords or costal ribs fig. 08 flic.kr/p/2op6sCH . The protoconch, lacking obvious sculpture, has about two and a half tumid, smooth whorls about 1 mm in diameter fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2op6v13 which, when not eroded, form a sharp apical point.

The height of the aperture is about 60% of the shell height fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2op6v13 . It is approximately ‘P’ shaped with the nearly straight inner lip (parietal and columellar) and long siphonal canal forming the upright, and the palatal lip forming the curve. On young shells the canal is open fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2op6v13 . Later the columellar lip expands over the canal to roof it fig. 08 flic.kr/p/2op6sCH to a greater or lesser degree. All lips are pure white and the parietal lip tends to spread onto the adjacent body-whorl. The palatal lip may consist of the labial varix or a thin, finely folded lip projecting a minimal fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2op6th8 or moderate fig. 06 flic.kr/p/2op6t35 distance beyond the varix, depending on recent growth and erosion. It meets the parietal lip at about 90°. On mature shells, the palatal lip often has interior protrusions which correlate with the spiral grooves of the exterior fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2op8Yue . The interior of the aperture is smooth and glossy white.

The operculum fig. 10 flic.kr/p/2op7LKL has a fairly straight columellar-parietal edge. Its palatal edge is curved except for a straight basal section which, with the columellar-parietal edge, forms a wedge which fits into the siphonal canal. Centrally, it is dark reddish brown, but a wide peripheral zone is translucent yellowish fig. 11 flic.kr/p/2op6rLh .The outer face, made of conchiolin produced by the opercular groove, has a marginal nucleus with many fine, surrounding, concentric growth lines. The inner face has a non-marginal, excentric nucleus surrounded by broad, concentric, bands of adventitious conchiolin produced by a ring of gland cells in the opercular disc fig. 10 flic.kr/p/2op7LKL . Both interior bands and exterior growth lines are visible through the translucent operculum when viewed against a backlit white background; the patterns cross each other fig. 11 flic.kr/p/2op6rLh . The inner face has an area of rougher texture where the columellar muscle attaches to it. The edge of the attachment area is visible as a curved line unaligned with either growth lines or adventitious bands. Apart from the rough muscle-attachment, the inner face of operculum has a shiny varnished surface fig. 10 flic.kr/p/2op7LKL . The operculum is flexible so it can fit the aperture tightly behind the interior protrusions, if any, of the palatal lip fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2op8Yue or bend round the body fig. 12 flic.kr/p/2op8XAa .

Body description

The flesh is translucent white or yellowish white with many opaque white blotches, and yellow, sometimes saffron (Jeffreys, 1867), distally on the cephalic tentacles fig. 12 flic.kr/p/2op8XAa & fig. 13 flic.kr/p/2op8XsQ , but the yellow may not be developed on small juveniles fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2op8Aq1 and juveniles less than 5 mm high in the Adriatic may have grey and black bodies fig. 37 flic.kr/p/2opNWxW . Dark viscera are visible in parts of the body rarely extended into view fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2op7KP7 .

The small dorsoventrally flattened head consists of two diverging cephalic tentacles with thick bases tapering about two thirds of their length to an eye fig. 12 flic.kr/p/2op8XAa & fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2op7KP7 beyond which they are slender. Ventrally there is an opening slit (rhynchostome) fig. 15 flic.kr/p/2op8WGX for eversion of the pleurembolic feeding proboscis which can extend greatly; there is no permanently external snout. The radula, buccal mass and true mouth are in the distal end of the proboscis fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2op7KP7 when extended. The short rachiglossan radula has in each row of three colourless, transparent teeth a wide, central, rachidian tooth with many small cusps (points) flanked on either side by a longer marginal tooth. The cusps on the anterior rows are usually worn down by boring into the shells of prey.

The translucent yellowish white mantle roofs the mantle cavity fig. 12 flic.kr/p/2op8XAa and a folded portion fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2op7KP7 extends as a respiratory siphon through, but rarely beyond, the siphonal canal of the shell fig. 17 flic.kr/p/2op6qtC . The mantle covers the body but is translucent enough to reveal the organs when the animal is removed from the shell fig. 22 flic.kr/p/2op8VfZ . The edge of the mantle is thickened, more yellowish and less translucent fig. 12 flic.kr/p/2op8XAa .

The short, broad foot is about 33% the length of the shell fig. 18 flic.kr/p/2op6qhA . When fully spread it is widest at the anterior fig. 19 flic.kr/p/2op7JJm but it can vary to circular fig. 20 flic.kr/p/2op3Ek2 . There are no distinct propodial tentacles, but the agile foot can fold readily and bring the sides and flexible front corners together fig. 17 flic.kr/p/2op6qtC to manipulate prey or, in the case of females, manoeuvre egg capsules. The opening to the inverted accessory boring organ is on the medial fold line of the sole a short distance from the anterior. It is difficult to detect except when the sucker-like boring organ is everted to hold and to soften the shell of the prey for boring by the radula. A little further posterior than the boring gland on females there is an opening to the ventral pedal gland into which the foot inserts each newly laid egg capsule for final shaping and subsequent fixing to the substrate.

Dorsally the foot is coloured as the body but the yellowish white sole lacks opaque white marks except where those on the dorsum show through the thin periphery fig. 20 flic.kr/p/2op3Ek2

Behind the right tentacle, males have a large, white penis fig. 21 flic.kr/p/2op6pqL .

Removal of the shell fig. 22 flic.kr/p/2op8VfZ & fig. 23 flic.kr/p/2op8wre will show a large, yellowish, pinnate ctenidium and a smaller, pinnate, red-brown osphradium resembling a ctenidium in structure. The following organs may be visible through the translucent mantle: the greenish hypobranchial gland, rectum, black rectal gland, heart, kidney and the visceral lump containing the digestive gland and, in the breeding season, the ovary or testes.

Habits and ecology

O. erinaceus lives on rocky shores at LWST and sublittorally to 150 m on stony substrate.

It feeds on bivalves, barnacles and tube dwelling worms, boring holes through their shells to rasp out the flesh with its radula. It takes about ten days to bore into and consume an oyster with its everted proboscis fig. 16 flic.kr/p/2op8y3A .

The strong shell affords protection against predators. When active, little of the animal protrudes beyond its shelter fig. 18 flic.kr/p/2op6qhA and the operculum protects nearly half of the foot. In Croatia those in shallow water are often covered with algae which conceal them fig. 36 flic.kr/p/2op3zyP . When sealed, the long siphonal canal protects the siphon so it can remain safely extended for respiration when the animal is retracted into the shell fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2op8Yue .

Inhalant water entering through the respiratory siphon has its quality checked by the pectinate osphradium at the inner end of the siphon before passing through the larger pectinate ctenidium fig. 22 flic.kr/p/2op8VfZ & fig. 23 flic.kr/p/2op8wre .

O. erinaceus breeds in late April and May in Britain. The male fertilizes the female internally with its long penis. Egg capsules from the oviduct are manoeuvred one at a time by the female’s flexible foot into the ventral pedal gland where they are moulded before being fixed to rock or shells. Several capsules are laid close together, and females often lay in company. The egg capsules are 6 to 13 mm high, and are shaped like a hot water bottle with sloping shoulders. Sometimes a raised rib creates a triangular cross section. The narrow aperture is on a short neck and has a protruding plug. The capsules are initially whitish turning to yellow or purple with age fig. 24 flic.kr/p/2op6oKN . After nine or ten weeks, most of the young emerge from the capsule as crawling juveniles, but about 14% emerge as late veliger, swimming larvae with a well developed four-lobed velum and a foot. They lose the velum within five days (Wigham & Graham, 2018).

Like Nucella lapillus, females in the vicinity of boats treated with Tributyltin (TBT), an anti-fouling biocide, experience imposex, the malformation of the oviduct causing sterility. Near Plymouth and Falmouth docks, England, about 90% of female O. erinaceus were so affected in studies from 1991 to 1995 (Gibbs, 1996). Even so, the reproductive failure was less than that experienced by N. lapillus perhaps because of arrival of swimming late veligers, which N. lapillus lacks, from less affected areas.

Distribution and status

O. erinaceus occurs from the Azores and the Mediterranean to its winter-cold induced limits in northern France and south-east Scotland. It does not live in the Baltic or on continental coasts of the North Sea; multiple records of it at

waarneming.nl/species/20959/maps/?start_date=2000-08-29&a...

are fossils in sand dumped to replenish Dutch beaches (Han Raven, pers. comm. 14 March 2023) and probably some misidentified Ocinebrellus inornatus. These misleading records have transferred to GBIF at www.gbif.org/species/4364689 . Because of the mild Atlantic drift in winter, it extends up the west coast of Ireland and Britain to Orkney and Shetland. The U.K. distribution map at species.nbnatlas.org/species/NHMSYS0021055838 probably shows the true position (accessed March 2023), but there, too, fossils are present in pleistocene glacial drift (Forbes & Hanley, 1853) from which they may be washed out onto beaches.

In the past, the limits have shifted. During the exceptionally severe winters 1928 - 1929 and 1962 - 1963, the population along the British North Sea coast was almost annihilated (Lützen et al., 2011). With global warming it is possible that it may spread north of its current limits, but recording of any change should be based on live specimens as the solid shells persist for long periods after death.

Deboxing my LE Wedding Cinderella. The cardboard backing has been removed from the inner box, and is free standing. The doll is attached to the backing by wires and plastic ties. The background image is the exterior stairs of the Castle at night.

Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

Happy New Year!

Here she is in her box! I bought her at Meijer this morning for 19.99. They only had two, and it was only the evil queen. I bought one.lol I assume they have already sold out of Ursula. I didn't see any traces of the new disney signature princesses. The evil queen is very pretty, especially for a Mattel play line disney doll. One thing I will have to say is, I think this is a play line doll, instead of a collector doll. It came with no certificate, or stand. It also has the hollow plastic legs, and very stiff joints for sturdy play. Her outfit is made out of a couple different fabrics. Her dress is the typical stiff Mattel satin. Her sleeves are a almost polyester spandexy material. Her cape is a felt like material, that they use alot with velcro. So it's not the nicest. The cowl is the same stiff satin Mattel uses. Her crown is a hard plastic painted in gold chrome. It stays on with plastic pegs, that connects to the back of her head. Her head is a pearlescent peach vinyl, with crushed black velvet lining her face. The crushed velvet goes all around her head instead of half way, so thank goodness.lol her apple is the same plastic as the crown, but painted in red and green chrome paint. It has a prong that specially fits in the queens specially molded hand. Her belt is a soft gold plastic, could be rubber. Her shoes are a hard gold plastic, and have the skull apple embellishments on the tip. All in all, I think for a Mattel doll, she's worth it! Especially if you don't have a evil queen. And I actually prefer this one over the Disney store one.

BABUSHKA - SNAPSHOT OF A KILLER (Chapter Nine)

.

Самые недра ада

THE VERY BOWELS OF HELL

West London, England

.

" Keep her sedated and as uncomfortable as you possibly can until my return. I have a little matter to attend to before I have the pleasure of finally putting this bitch out of her misery ".

The stifled drone of hazy voices broke into the very depths of Tatiana's lurid nightmares, Visions of her formidable adversary walking out the strange room, the cacophony of dayglo colours and bizarre imagery swirling together in a rambling and incoherent form that slowly followed a pattern of darkness into light, of wild and wonderful shapes into images of normality. The rhythmic drip of a tap grew increasingly louder and the voice of a single male altered from muted tone to perfect clarity as her eyelids flickered wildly like soft satin head scarves in a wind tunnel, and the invasive pain of overhead fluorescent lights began to burn like flames, as she awoke.

Confused thoughts and feelings, the realization that her limbs could not move for the tethers that bound them tightly together, eyes scanning the vicinity for clues as to her whereabouts as instinctively she fought to free herself from the bindings which secured both arms and legs to a cold metallic medical table on which she lay.

The male to whom Agent Anastasiya had been issuing stern orders prior to departing the scene, gazed down on her from above, hidden behind a white surgeons face mask covering the lower half of his middle aged, pointy facial features, hands upwards and forwards of his torso, not unlike the posture of a kangaroo. Tatiana's head pounded like the big bass drum in a brass band, a searing pain that caused her to wince before regaining some semblance of composure. Waves of pain swept across her temple, the likes of which she had never before encountered, and a bitter taste filled her dry mouth, lips crusty under the tongue, a sharp jabbing pain in her left arm confirmed with a sideways glance at the white plastic cannula taped across her palm, the plastic tube from which went deep into the deep blue artery leading from her middle finger backwards, leaving a clearly visible and hardened vein that stood proud and angry from the torture it had obviously endured.

From the pain of the plastic intrusion into her flesh, Tatiana guessed that it must have been inserted for many hours, though her recollections of the events which lead to her capture and detention were only coming through as hazy waves in fits and starts.

Eyes following the machinery all around her, she noticed how the two long flexible cords from the three headed cannula led to an upright shiny chromed stand on which sat two full bags of differing liquids, suspended by metal hooks that glistened under the intensity of the lights. One paler in colour than it's stable mate and marked with white lettering too small and insignificant for Tatiana's bewildered eyes to make out, the other darker and unmarked. The third tap, directly at the base of the bothersome contraption, was temporarily capped by a small bright orange bung, traces of dried blood left a residue over the tape which lay in three small strips to secure the device in place.

" Oh that headache my dear ", the man quipped with an almost amused tone of voice that positively effervesced with self congratulatory sarcasm as he moved around to Tatiana's left hand side.

" I could give you something for it, Codeine would work, some water to take care of that Sahara like dryness that you are tasting right now in your mouth but then you'll be dead in a short while so it would really be a waste of your time and my resources ".

His eyes seemed to light up with the obvious smile that beamed from behind that face mask, the wrinkles in the corners of his eyes lighting up like a neon beacon, confirming his middle years, whilst the odour of tobacco emanating from the thin fabric protection was confirmed by the nicotine stains on his fingers as he prodded the Cannula, causing Tatiana yet more discomfort as the line within pushed against her vein.

On her right index finger was a plastic crocodile clip with a lead to a bank of machines to the right of the table, her pulse flitting across one of the screens at a reasonably steady rate, and two small circular discs lay affixed to the top of her chest, tiny metallic central balls connected by single leads to a heart monitor and a plethora of brightly coloured readings that Tatiana's eyes could not yet read as they tried to adjust to the reality of her plight.

“ Sodium thiopental, Left over from the cold war days, old and crude but so marvellously effective we find with a little dose of Narcosynthesis. You would have been singing like a canary and yet you don't remember a damn thing. You have to admire the beauty of the precious liquid, do you not? “, the man quipped, clearly amused by the situation and gratified by his own handiwork.

" Nice tits by the way. So pleasing to feel all, natural ones in these days of implants and surgical realignments, an area of the medical profession that bored me until the chance to take this opportunity came my way. If you are feeling any discomfort down below, it may well be from the roughness of the guards. Not that I saw them taking turns with you, you understand, but in my experience it's often been the case that they do in such circumstances. Well, who could blame them after all, such a pretty little wild animals aren't we ".

By now his right hand was stroking Tatiana's face gently, something much to her chagrin as she forcibly shook her head and made his attentions clearly unwelcome.

" Where did Anastasiya go to? ", Tatiana asked through pursed lips and an angrily flaring nose, the man smiling as he stepped away from her and walked to a silber metallic petri dish located on one of the side tables that contained blood soaked bandaging and the remnants of a large partly used hypodermic syringe. Gathering up the grimy syringe and returning to her, he popped open the small plastic securing lid to the drip line mid way between one of the fluid bags and the cannula and paused for a moment before inserting the needle tip into the plastic housing.

" I assure you that you need not worry your pretty little head over Agent Anastasiya, she'll be back to attend to your final moments shortly and ensure that your journey to the afterlife is as painful and unpleasant as is humanly possible. In the meantime, a little something to have you burningin agony from the inside, a concoction that I myself have developed, with a degree of considerable success if I might be so bold. "

Tatiana had already noted the leather restraining cuffs and the omission to tether both legs adequately, just enough play to allow her the opportunity to gather some power in her lower limbs, her right arm already turning inside the leather until her palm was flat to the bed side, pain searing through her body as she carefully began to bend her digits backwards, fingers and thumb tucked over and inwards, pushing back against her own hand, one of the tricks Sergei had taught her in counter interrogation tactics so many years previously. The man checked the two bags of liquid once again, oblivious to the imminent demise of his final breath as he inserted the needle and began to depress the plunger, the slightly orange coloured liquid making it's way into the plastic tubing and heading towards Tatiana's hand. Screaming in pain, Tatiana freed her right hand, pushing her midriff upwards from the bed and levering both legs violently upwards as she grabbed the syringe out of his hand, immediately planting the needle tip deep into his right temple and pumping the contents into his skull. Grabbing a scalpel from near Petri dish on the metal cabinet beside the bed, in an instant she had cut the leg bindings as both ankles locked around the shocked man's head, pulling him downwards and trapping his face into the mattress of the bed.

With her right hand she pulled at the cannula, tearing the see through securing tape off and ripping the lengthy plastic tubing out of her palm, a jet stream of fresh blood exploding from the gaping hole and spattering over the white coated man as she used the scalpel to cut the leather binding off her other hand.

The sweet taste of freedom was little noted before she ripped the heart monitoring discs and pulse leads from her naked flesh, pulling the man towards her until she had her left arm locked around his throat like a vice, placing the scalpel blade to his neck as she looked around.

“ Where the hell am I? “, she spoke angrily, the man grimacing under the pain of the assault as he managed a faint smile and replied.

“ The very bowels of Hell, my dear. "

" And you can get me out of here, right? ", she demanded, the man managing a faint laugh as he declined her question, fighting for breath as her hold increased, though clearly finding the situation quite amusing.

" Please, you have to help me, I'm burning, my head.... ". Eyes turning red, foam bubbling in the corners of his mouth, the man began to violently convulse and it was all that Tatiana could do to keep control of him as he shook and writhed before her.

" Then let me make it a little easier for you all, as you're no longer of any use to me it would seem. ", Tatiana snarled as she pushed the scalpel into the left side of his throat and pulled backwards until the blade came out just below his right ear. A muted scream of shock and a degree of gargling followed as Tatiana relinquished her fearsome grip, his hands raised to try and stem the tidal flow of blood from the gaping wound, to no avail. With force, she pushed the man onto the floor in front of her, directly into the plethora of stainless steel waste dishes. Rising up from the bed she spotted the CCTV camera in the left corner of the room, gathering up tray in her right hand and aiming it like a missile to disable the unit, which swivelled and turned away from her direction under impact. Eyes darting quickly left and right, she headed towards the only door into the room, above it a panic button in vivid red which she thumped for all she was worth. The droning alarm siren added to the pain in her head as she crouched down behind the door frame, and waited for her chance of making an escape.

Footsteps growing ever closer, voices elevated and tones of concern, as the door opened and a soldier rushed into the room. Combat greens, pristine pressed and black army issue boots bulled and glass-like shiny. Youthful flesh, no more than a fresh faced kid, bewilderment registering upon his face as Tatiana plunged her scalpel into the top of his thigh, rising to her feet and grabbing his Beretta 93 9mm automatic pistol before griping him by the chin and swivelling around to face the corridor outside.

Three other soldiers fell consecutively under the hail of twenty Luger 9mm cartridges from the magazine as she lifted the soldier and walked forwards from the room using him as a shield. Throwing him onto the ground as the final rounds were expelled, she reached down and took another pistol and machine gun which she slung over her right shoulder, from one of the freshly fallen corpses, dispatching the injured soldier with a single shot to the back of the skull, before moving deeper into the corridor, back to the pale blue painted walls and headed towards an intersection where four corridors converged in perfect harmony.

At that point, she came across a lone female civilian, mid twenties, smart attire with a pencil skirt over a petite frame and black high heels, long brown hair tied back with a single gold clasp, handbag around her left shoulder and a clutch bag in her hand, teary eyes testing water proof mascara that clearly was anything but. Tatiana pinned the young female to the wall, a surprised expression peeking over the forceful hand which gripped her mouth, preventing her from screaming. Tatiana momentarily removed her hand, forcing the cold steel barrel of her automatic pistol into the terrified girl's mouth, as she raised both arms in submissive fright.

“ Do you want to live longer than the next twenty seconds? ".

The girl nodded, a mouth full of metallic threat and a face full of fear, tears cascading as she looked straight into the eyes of the escaped killer.

“ Good, well that's a minor detail that we both currently have in common I guess. Do you speak English? “

“Uh Huh” the girl mouthed with subdued tone as she nodded.

“Uh Huh is not a language, try stringing a few words together”

“ I'm frightened ", the girl replied, liquid streaming from her eyes along with globules of thick mascara that trickled down her reddish cheeks like the banks of a breached river after a landslide of earth.

“ Don't be, you're not on my list right now. Do exactly what I tell you and you'll remain off that list. Get me caught and I will kill every person you ever loved before coming for you, starting with your husband. "

" Oh I'm afraid that's not possible as I'm not married ", the girl sobbed, now allowed the indulgence of two free hands to grab a tissue from her clutch bag to wipe her eyes.

" Your boyfriend then ", Tatiana continued.

" No, you misunderstand me, you see, I'm gay ", the girl spurted between the tears.

" Your girlfriend then "

The girl began balling once more as she explained, " She's just dumped me by text for another girl she works with...."

"For fuck's sake woman...", Tatiana was by now losing patience.

" Look, let me make it nice and simple for you bitch, help me or you die. OK. I need an exit. Quick. And do me a favour will you, try to act as naturally as you can or else you'll get us both killed. . The girl allowed her eyes to dart quickly to her left, towards the end of the corridor which curled away out of sight. Tatiana lowering the pistol from the girls face and pushing it into her rib cage with a menacing prod, eyes scanning the location feverishly.

“We need to exit via the stairwell and out onto the road, I'm parked there. We're not supposed to do so but I do it all the time and security here is pretty lacking at the best of times, you know, macho men and their stupid guns and all. Here's my level one pass that will get you through the security door, and my car keys "

“Keep them”,Tatiana quipped, “You're driving”.

Down the corridor and through the security door, the green light flashing merrily to afford exit into the South Stairwell as the card was entered, the pair entered the car park and located the terrified woman's shiny black pearlescent Porsche 911 Carerra, the doors opening as she blipped the black leather key fob.

" How much are they paying you for Christ's sake! ", Tatiana exclaimed as she ran a finger along the seductive bodywork and beckoned the girl over.

" I would have thrown you in the trunk but seeing as it's actually in the hood and not big enough to store anything bigger than a handbag, you'd better get inside. The smell of leather and real walnut wood permeated the confines of the capacious boot as Tatiana closed it down behind her, instructing the woman to drive her to the safety of city. The escape was made, freedom found and whether or not the young Porsche owning lesbian would live to see another sunrise depended upon the mood and whims of a natural born killer.

With the recent Sambar and indeed this SVX casting, it looks as though Matchbox are finally capitalising a bit more on the Subaru license rather than just the predictable Impreza/WRX route. You may not remember the last time you saw one of these stylish coupes on the road but if you are of a certain age you'll certainly remember its appearance. The real car barely got a look in over here as it was too expensive, too obscure and wore the wrong badge but that rarity is what Matchbox thrive on.

With their usual basic mainline cost restraints, I would say the Matchbox Design Team did a remarkable job modelling the SVX and wisely gave it this clean pearlescent all white colour for its debut. Full tampo detailing to the front and sides though oddly not to the front hence the addition of a little Molotow magic.

Deboxing the 2015 LE Elsa Doll. First the front cardboard lid is removed, revealing a clear plastic window underneath. Then the plastic window and rear cardboard lid are removed, leaving the doll attached to a free standing cardboard backing. The Certificate of Authenticity is removed from below the backing, and placed in front of the doll.

Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

Starting to the get the hang of casting resin with pearlescent pigments. Now all we have to do is get the hang of photographing them. The chairs shimmer and glow as they swing freely back and forth. Light weight, fun, and they make quite a statement - although we haven't quite figured out what that is. Maybe "Express Your Ambiguity". What kind of a person wears chairs in their ears anyway.

Lothian's new eco website promotes fifteen new hybrid buses from Alexander's in Falkirk. It's all been made possible with a little help from the Scottish Government’s Green Bus Fund, worth a total of £5 million.

The new Enviro 400's (the first by Edinburgh's principal bus operator) are cleaner, quieter and smoother than other buses. Hybrid buses are more efficient than ordinary buses because their engines run only to generate electricity which drives the wheels.

Lothian's new Hybrids are painted not in the usual red and white 'classic' livery but in Radiance Red over Winter Gold i.e. the standard weinrot und weis colours are changed for a pearlescent paint version.

Note the alloy wheels on hybrids 213 (SN61 BCE) and 206 (SN61 BBJ), both resting at Newhaven's terminus at Western Harbour. The deluxe development to the rear is the luxurious world of Platinum Point which is part of the great Newhaven regeneration of the early 21st Century. With spectacular views over the Firth of Forth and to Fife the prices are equally spectacular! Whether all this will still be here in 20 years as gradually the sea reclaims the land (owing to increased temperatures) is anyone's guess!

Janet's theme for today's scramble is to use solid & outline stamps. Gave me the chance to dig out my very old (2001) HA shadow block stamp. I brayered on Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves, spritzed & stamped on wc paper. My HA leaves turned out not to be really outline, so I used another very old stamp I still love by Design in Squares. It's stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate & embossed with JudiKins Egyptian Gold. The sentiment is PTI (Take 3 Fall) & this is the first time I've used that set. The splatters are my favorite Distress Stain Tarnished Brass. Lightly distressed the panel edges & decided against any embellishments. Thanks, Janet, for the great scramble!

Two Caterhams on display in the Lotus 7 Club area adjacent to the track at Maggotts. The 7 on the right is a 1999 1800cc which has the braced rollover hoop that entitles it to run in track days, while the 7 on the left is unique. It is a 1600 Sprint in Pearlescent Lemon Glaze, number 8 of the limited run of Silver Jubilee models, has tan leather individual seats.and was the 1982 British International Motor Show car at the NEC.

Every o-ring is made seperately by hands and has original shape. The jewellery made of o-ring is mostly minimalist, based on soft, semi-transparent, little pearlescent color combinations and o-rings composition. Some pieces can be more intricated, when o-ring are nested in another one, or has textures or be backfilled.

O-rings jewellery represents clear and modern design.

For Inti

Request For:

Warm yellow or peach based complexion.

Up to my discretion

no freckles. Not goth. Eyebrows should not be too long, too short, too thin, too thick, too dark or too light. -___-

Another instruction I got for all the dolls is not to use cheap lashes and to make sure they show up and don't fall off....I have to say my lash application is fairly sturdy. Just dont dunk in water or pull hard on them.

I had several thoughts here. I do a lot of natural looking faceups and so I like to play around a bit if I have the chance. At first I wanted to do a light eyeshadow with classic red lip look but Inti wasn't too keen on that so I went more natural with a warm gold/brown/green eyeshadow look and pearlescent peachy gold lips.

I kind of love her lol.

Eyelashes used are from ForMyDoll Eyelash AA in brown but it is customized by adding individual hairs for a lusher more natural look. Until I find lashes that suit the look I want, this is the method I use and it's very time consuming. Formydoll lashes are $2.50 and the extra customization cost $10. (as i said, very time consuming.)

Eyes: 12mm eyes with small irises from C.I.G.

The photo was printed on pearlescent paper and I haven't found a way to get rid of the reflections in the scan.
