Idea shamelessly borrowed from Twotone/BerryMarket, because it's a great idea! I spraypainted a bit of light gray (not, alas, quite light enough) at the tops of the legs and arms, to try to create a smoother transition from the gray (werewolf/dragon kit) torso to the sea monster limbs; I also coated all of the spray painted area with pearl medium, because the torso is slightly pearlescent. I mixed dark green into the pearl medium to make a base color for the leg fins and arm tentacles, then painted over those with transparent green Citadel ink. The arms and legs were topcoated with clear acrylic Krylon spray paint. Overall, a (relatively) quick project.

The dress just has the upper velcro bits folder inside in the back to leave room for the wings; I am working on an idea for a dress pattern alteration that will leave room for wings (and hopefully look just fine on non-winged gals.)

I knew I had to have this new flower bird garden stamp the minute I saw it! Then I came across a video by Jennifer McGuire showing how she watercolored this image using distress inks- so I was completely inspired by her to create this card. I put my own spin on it using brighter "Springy" colors and some pearlescent paint mixed in with the distress ink (which you can't see at all.....) I used the new classic fabric design as the BG here stamping it using Scattered Straw distress ink. I LOVE my new 2011 Hero Arts stamps!

Supplies used:

Hero Arts stamps CL130, CG270, CG245

Hero Hues "Sea" blue layering paper

Yellow cardstock

Versamark and white detail embossing powder

distress inks in the colors: scattered straw, wild honey, spiced marmalade, barn door, peeled paint, shabby shutters, and broken china

White pearlescent paint by Lumiere

May Arts ribbon

Here she is in her box! I bought her at Meijer this morning for 19.99. They only had two, and it was only the evil queen. I bought one.lol I assume they have already sold out of Ursula. I didn't see any traces of the new disney signature princesses. The evil queen is very pretty, especially for a Mattel play line disney doll. One thing I will have to say is, I think this is a play line doll, instead of a collector doll. It came with no certificate, or stand. It also has the hollow plastic legs, and very stiff joints for sturdy play. Her outfit is made out of a couple different fabrics. Her dress is the typical stiff Mattel satin. Her sleeves are a almost polyester spandexy material. Her cape is a felt like material, that they use alot with velcro. So it's not the nicest. The cowl is the same stiff satin Mattel uses. Her crown is a hard plastic painted in gold chrome. It stays on with plastic pegs, that connects to the back of her head. Her head is a pearlescent peach vinyl, with crushed black velvet lining her face. The crushed velvet goes all around her head instead of half way, so thank goodness.lol her apple is the same plastic as the crown, but painted in red and green chrome paint. It has a prong that specially fits in the queens specially molded hand. Her belt is a soft gold plastic, could be rubber. Her shoes are a hard gold plastic, and have the skull apple embellishments on the tip. All in all, I think for a Mattel doll, she's worth it! Especially if you don't have a evil queen. And I actually prefer this one over the Disney store one.

The Limited Edition Elsa Doll, released in stores in North America on March 3, 2015. My doll is #2942 of 5000. She is in jeweled purple felt (made from faux wool). This is the outfit she wore as an 18 year old when saying good bye to her parents before their overseas journey. She is wearing ice blue jeweled satin gloves, which help repress her ice powers. Her hands are clasped together. Her pose and look are that of a sternly repressed nature. She is standing in front a purple window of the Castle, which is closed, as she is closed to the outside world.

She is wearing black flats with floral decoration. Her jacket is pinned to her dress, which I left alone, as it helps to keep the jacket from opening up. There was a large amount of tissue paper stuffing under her skirt. I had to remove her from the doll stand before I could remove the tissue.

She has shiny pearlescent skin, and her skin tone is between that of Coronation Elsa and Snow Queen Elsa. In bright lighting, her skin is iridescent with a a purple sheen. Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

Deboxing my LE Wedding Cinderella. The cardboard backing has been removed from the inner box, and is free standing. The doll is attached to the backing by wires and plastic ties. The background image is the exterior stairs of the Castle at night. She is then removed from the backing, but is still attached to a plastic spacer.

On my second attempt to get the the Limited Edition Wedding Cinderella 17'' Doll from eBay, I finally got her! I got her with the help of a fellow collector. She is #450 of 500, and was originally sold by the Japan Disney Store. There is a Japanese sticker on the bottom of the box. She was shipped double boxed, and very well packed. She arrived in perfect condition.

She is very beautiful, and has a serene expression, rather than the grumpy pout of the LE Ballgown Cinderella doll. Her lips have a slight smile, which is part of why she has a more pleasant expression than the other doll, who shares the same face mold. She is glancing in the opposite direction of the Ballgown Cinderella, and her skin has a matte surface, rather than the shiny pearly surface of the Ballgown doll. Her pale yellow wedding gown has many differently sized and colored rhinestones enhancing the printed floral pattern. There are also several small jeweled plastic butterflies in the skirt, hidden amongst the flowers. The decorations continue throughout the back of the dress. There are also faux pearl buttons on her sleeves and on the back of her bodice. Her skirt is very full with a long train, and is in three differently colored layers. Under her skirts is a 3/4 length single layer tulle petticoat. Attached to her hair is an oversized pale yellow sheer chiffon veil. She has golden earrings and a jeweled golden tiara. Her wedding ring is a floral design with five golden beads; it is pinned to her hand. She has the old style legs, with fixed ankles. She is wearing simple ivory heels, with no decorations.

I will be posting a full set of detailed photos of this doll. She will be shown boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed, both by herself and with other Disney Store dolls.

Designer SQ Elsa and Hans deboxed, but put back on their display stand, with the covers off.

I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.

I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.

The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.

I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

Both vehicles now have transparent black windows in the back. The Ford used to have dark bluish grey fender arches, side-skirts and bumpers. However, it was supposed to be a King Ranch edition and the trim on that is grey or beige. I decided to use old light grey for that, with pearlescent grey for the shiny bits. I also fiddled with rims and tyres to give he wheels a better look.

Design composed of a symbols set harmonized to each other that blend together for a very personal creation of great visual impact.

In a game of overlap born the unusual idea with an evocative aesthetic from the world of slot machines, roulettes, poker chips and dices of the American casinos green tables.

In this composition stand out, as well as the unmistakable symbol of the ace of spades, playing cards with their rich decorations printed on the back.

Nissan today unveiled the Z Proto, signaling the company's intent to launch a new generation of the legendary Z sports car. Shown at a virtual event beamed around the world from the Nissan Pavilion in Yokohama, the prototype car features a new design inside and out, as well as a V-6 twin turbocharged engine with a manual transmission.

First hinted at in a video named "Nissan A-Z" in May, the Nissan Z Proto pays full respect to 50 years of Z heritage. At the same time, it's a thoroughly modern sports car.

Penned and developed by the design team in Japan, the Z Proto boasts a fresh, attractive exterior design with a silhouette that communicates respect for the original model. It sports a bright yellow pearlescent paint – a tribute to a popular paint scheme on both the first generation Z (S30) and the 300ZX (Z32) – and a black roof.

The original Z was built to bring the joy and excitement of sports car ownership to as many people as possible.

"The Z has always been a strong dynamic performer, making it easy for customers to enjoy its capabilities and feel as connected as possible to the car," said Hiroshi Tamura, chief product specialist of the Z Proto. "This has been true through all its generations, and this is what drives our passion to innovate and challenge the norm."

Each new generation had a more powerful engine, although the Z is about more than power increases.

"Z is a balance of power and agility," Tamura continued. "It is a vehicle that creates a connection with the driver not just on the physical level, but emotionally, and responds to the driver's impulses."

Make no mistake though, the Z Proto packs a powerful punch. Under the elongated hood is an enhanced V-6 twin-turbocharged engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. As a prototype, work is now underway on synchronizing the power with the grace and control that has defined the Z for the past 50 years.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: My blonde doll on the right came from the "Ken Suitcase lot" of 2016. She was in even more amazing condition than my brunette doll. I remember spotting her outfit in the suitcase prior to purchasing it. In fact, I dressed another doll in it that Colleen and I were planning on buying before we knew we could get the entire suitcase for dirt cheap. I'm so happy I ended up with Barbie too. Miss Brunette can wait for her own outfit! What I love the most about both of these knockouts is the fact that they have the Mackie head mold and tons of eyelashes. Growing up, my sister's brunette Corduroy Cool Barbie was one of our favorites--we fought over her ALL the time. These dolls capture that same beauty! What I love so much about their eyes is the fact that they remind me of the Barbies from the early 80s, like Day-to-Night Barbie, who were painted with a million short eyelashes!

The same flea market season that I acquired my first blonde, I also found my second. Ironically, both ladies were from bins, and both were fortunate enough to have their original outfit (which is kind of funny since most of the other dollies from their lots were nude). Personally, I think that my first blonde is a tiny bit more attractive. Well, maybe not so much attractive as she is in better condition. But that being said, I am immensely fond of my second blondie. She was part of the "Teresa lot" of 2016. You'd think it would be easy to confuse the two blonde dolls, since I only got them a few months apart. But, I can actually distinguish the two of them at a quick glance. While they were both made in China, they have very different facial screenings. My doll on the left has much wider eyes, and much more vibrant, deeply colored features. My first doll has more muted colors, and her eyes were painted in a much narrower, more humble fashion. It's really interesting seeing how factory differentiation in Barbie's facial screenings can affect the "personality" of a doll! This is one of the reasons I've always enjoyed collecting Barbies--because no other doll type has quite as many unique variations as she does!

My First CUSTOM PAINTED GUITAR PROJECT NAMED: (The Green Music Machine): Hurray!! I’m finished with this one, finely at last and what a wild ride it was!! Wow, I learned so much doing this project!!! Being that I’ve always wanted to learn to paint using an airbrush and for a while I was trying to decide what to paint, then it eventually dawned on me… I do love music and being that I play a little bit of both piano and guitar I have several guitars about the house, that’s it! So, I pick out one of my axes as my Guinea Pig to start my maiden adventure in airbrushing... Believe me, it didn’t go off without a hitch, I made plenty of mistakes, but I quickly learned and researched about proper prep work and masking, paint viscosity and air pressure problems and some finish options, including how to use Clear-coat and so much more… I even got to play with glitter and what a fun mess that was; I even my face had some sparkle after that… For the paint used, I used colors Peril Aztec Gold and Bright Neon Pearlescent Green airbrush paint. But, the features I’m most proud of in this project was the work I’d accomplished with the back of the guitar, I used a tribal flame pattern and incorporated a skull filigree within the gold flames on the back of the guitar. Oh, and also, on the fret-board, I used a unique faux abalone inlay technique and was able to get a very lovely climbing vine motif with little bits of iridescent blue/green color shifting sparkles all the way up the neck… Man, it really looks great in direct sunlight!! Anyway, I’ve always admired seeing some really cool custom painted guitars over the years and since I do paint too, I wanted to do that and try something new as well. Who knows, maybe I’ll do it again… Now I’m thinking about what’s going to be my next project… Hope you like this one! Gloria is a fancy robot, with her pearlescent necklace and pristine wheels.

I used the photos in the book as a guide--but made this in one piece instead of the nonsensical two pieces that are sewn together in the directions. I also made it bigger (taller and wider) than the pattern specified. See her Ravelry page for info.

Clear bottle green, opaque pearlescent green, and translucent shimmer blue, all approximately "E" size, but rather irregular in shape, between them all. They have never been strung, I can tell because some of the beads included are just bips of unbroken glass with no hole.

Nacreous clouds tonight at and after sunset. Fantastic to see, I've only seen them once before and hadn't a clue what I was looking at then. They are high altitude clouds that refract the last of the sun through ice crystals.

Shall we have a Gazania week? Sun's out again and I have a big smile on my face (can't imagine why ;-))

Dazzling :-)

The Granary is a life-sized sculpture of a traditional English grain store. Still in use in countryside locations such as the artist’s hometown in Faversham, Kent, granaries are an archetypal structure of agrarian and pastoral life. Towering at an unusual height, The Granary is finished in pearlescent candy orange, chosen to represent the desire to return to an idyllic, rose-tinted past.

Despite its indulgence to this fantasy, The Granary is also a beaten, forced and frustrated product. It reflects a brutal reality of material hardship, discord, class division and racism, as well as the fear and uncertainty of what we have lost or stand to lose from crises affecting rural life today. The Granary speaks as much to a need to overcome these crises as it does to the vexed rhetoric that underpins established visions of the nation, its heritage and our place within it.

Iris is a Coffee skin tone Busty Nnaji with a brass ring piercings laced in blue ribbon on her back. She comes with a OOAK hard cap mohawk wig by PattaArt, and a set of blue lace lingerie and jewellery handmade by emiliacouture. Her eyeshadow is pearlescent purple and lips glossy blueberry.

Deboxing my LE Wedding Cinderella. The cardboard backing has been removed from the inner box, and is free standing. The doll is attached to the backing by wires and plastic ties. The background image is the exterior stairs of the Castle at night.

Adelene was responsible for the explosion of colour that Sunday. I should've known that she would incorporate balloons in the youth activity. Everything she touches somehow blossoms into balloons.

(Her pre-wedding shoot concept is going to be a no-brainer)

In case you're wondering, the balloons are basically a metaphorical representation for distractions (or burdens).

I'm sure you can figure some of the rest out.

What a beautiful machine. Peugeot had a long history of partnership with Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina; the Peugeot 406 Coupe was both designed and built by Pininfarina in Italy.

The car was manufactured and sold between 1996 and 2004, and had several engine choices available - a 2 litre petrol engine (3 variants over the lifespan), a 2.2 litre petrol engine, a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine (2 variants), and - unusually for a coupe of that era - a 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine. 107,633 cars were built in total, with over half being sold in France.

There were two main trim levels available - S and SE. The S trim was the entry-level option, and had cloth-covered, mechanically-adjusted seats. The SE trim had full leather interior, with motorized seats, a premium JBL sound system with amplifier and 6 CD changer, satellite navigation, and headlamp washers. There were several special edition trims also - the Silver & Black editions had different alloy wheels and half-leather interior. The Settant'Anni edition had special white leather interior with the Pininfarina logo embossed on the headrests. Regardless of the trim level, the seats were designed by Pininfarina and built by Recaro.

The SE trim had the leather available in several colours - black, tan, or red, with the door cards, steering wheel, and gearshift gaiter (on manual transmission cars) in matching leather trim.

The body was available in a range of 15 different paints, some of which are metallic, others pearlescent, and others simply solid paint.

This particular car has a V6 engine, but from the crossover year so it's not really easy to guess whether it was the original ES9J4 (194 HP) or the tuned ES9J4S (210 HP) version. This car has automatic transmission, which for the V6 models comes in the form of a four-speed ZF gearbox (ZF 4HP20). Note on the front wheels the large Brembo four-cylinder brake calipers - the V6 model of the car had these as standard through most of the car's life. The 16in alloy wheels were fitted as standard to the V6 version as the 15in version of this wheel was not large enough to fit over the large Brembo calipers. The wheels were designed by Pininfarina and built by BBS. The V6 model also had variable power steering, an effort to keep the steering feel responsive with the weighty V6 engine up front. The paint colour on this car is Polaris Blue, a metallic paint. The car has headlamp washers, so it has SE trim. The interior is tan leather.

I owned one of these cars for 7 years and it was simply fantastic; I still miss it. Mine was Scarlet Red, in SE trim, with the black leather interior, and the 2.2 litre 160HP petrol engine.

Pilgrims in a pine temple

Wandering into the silent and bear-black forest, the silvered sliver of a hooking moon set, we filled every silent space with amber-toothed, snarling phantoms and held them at bay with nips of cognac and the click of the shutter. Silhouettes under pearlescent starlight, the big trees are primeval minarets, spires of the oldest and grandest cathedral on Earth. We moved reverently, slowly - pilgrims in a pine temple come in the dark to play witness.

Some amongst these trees were old when men lashed Andromeda to the briny rocks and awaited the leviathan. We've filled the interceding centuries with other lambs led to slaughter, and emerging from darkness, discovered her still radiant, shackled to a constellation that is dying in a corner of the sky. Then as now, we are infants amongst giants, in wonder at skies the big trees have seen reel a million times, shades passing in the night. These are the days of miracle and wonder indeed.

We headed into the Sierras looking for a winter adventure, hoping for giant, snow-bound sentinels holding winter in great, fragrant handfuls. Instead we found beautiful, unseasonable warmth and clear night skies amongst the carpeted and ancient groves. We came for the snow and found so much more in its absence.</p

Or the next day, anyway. Slightly different colors and shapes; three-quarter and full buds.

This Geron sp bee fly is too small to set the trigger off but it walks onto the end of the column eating pollen, getting enough on itself to share with another flower. Here it is about to have a drink of nectar deep in the throat of the flower.

The word sinistral means pertaining to the left side. It is the coiling, counter clockwise from the apex. This was a piece of fabric a friend brought back from South Africa. I knew when I saw it that I wanted to work with it. It is heavily beaded with seed beads and machine quilted. The letters are stamped with copper pearlescent dye.

Deboxing the 2015 LE Elsa Doll. First the front cardboard lid is removed, revealing a clear plastic window underneath. Then the plastic window and rear cardboard lid are removed, leaving the doll attached to a free standing cardboard backing. The Certificate of Authenticity is removed from below the backing. Then the doll is removed from the backing, but still attached to the plastic form and doll stand. She is placed next to the now empty backing, which has an image of a purple colored window of the Arendelle Castle, viewed from the inside.

Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

Designer SQ Elsa and Hans deboxed, standing side by side. Elsa is supported by a Kaiser stand. Hans is free standing.

BOX DATE: 1995

MANUFACTURER: Mattel

DOLLS IN PACK: Barbie, Kelly

VARIATIONS: Blonde; African American

BODY TYPE: 1966; pearlescent molded B print panties; Twist 'n Turn waist; straight arms; bend & snap knees

HEAD MOLD: 1976 "Superstar"; pierced ears

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Of all the many Barbie and Kelly sets made over the years, I must say that this might just be my favorite. I am so very nostalgic for this Shoppin' Fun Barbie. One of the first Barbie and Kelly sets I ever owned was a blonde Shoppin' Fun Barbie and Shelly set that I found at my local flea market. I can still remember like it was yesterday, the moment I spotted the pink Barbie box from afar, sat out on a blanket on the ground. As I approached, I was thrilled to see that I had found a Barbie and Shelly set (it must have been the foreign release as Kelly was called Shelly), which was played with, but still had many of its contents. Colleen and I enjoyed that set for hours on end. We were a little disappointed that we didn't get all the cool food pieces with our dolls, but Barbie and Shelly still had their outfits, plus we did score a few of their accessories. I thought Barbie was magnificently beautiful, and Kelly was super adorable. Sadly a few short years later, I ended up giving Barbie away during my "I have too many dolls" phase, and of course I instantaneously regretted it. Colleen on the other hand was very smart, and kept little Shelly, who we still have to this day!

Even after a five year doll hiatus, it never left my memory that I had stupidly gotten rid of Shoppin' Fun Barbie--one of the coolest sister sets of all time! It was a mistake that I was hoping to rectify as an adult. That fall, I stumbled across a very forlorn looking Shoppin' Fun Barbie in the "Filthy Disney bin." But sadly, she had a butchered hair cut and was unsalvageable...which meant she became a body donor. Of course, I figured this was entirely my fault...after all, I didn't really deserve to find another one considering I had rashly gotten rid of my beautiful childhood doll on a whim. But at least I had found her outfit, which I hoped I could one day mate with a Shoppin' Fun Barbie. Less than a year later, I found the Shoppin' Fun Barbie of my dreams--the lady pictured in the center of this photo. She was nude, and in a container of Barbies that I had actually seen the year before with my dad (I remember the over priced vintage Barbie I really wanted in the container). Anyways, somehow I had not seen Shoppin' Fun Barbie the first time I encountered this container. But Colleen spotted her in there the second time we happened upon the dolls...and for only $2 Barbie was mine! Wouldn't you know, she was nude, which meant that she would wear the outfit I had found the year before. What makes this Shoppin' Fun Barbie extra special to me is the occassion we found her on. It was the first Father's Day without my dad, and his best friend took Colleen and I out to a really awesome, super huge flea market we had never been to before (which sadly closed since). We had an amazing time that day with Dad's friend (who was always like an uncle to us), and Colleen and I never forgot his generosity. Each time I look at one of the dolls I found that day (we came home with a small hoard), I can't help but be fondly reminded of that memory. This Barbie was not only the first Shoppin' Barbie I had gotten my hands on in years, but she is also a reminder of a special day in my life. She also embodies the spirit of my childhood doll the most--the stunning placement of her eyes is almost identical to my childhood doll's!

Let's not forget the little cutie on the far right side of this photo. She's actually wearing the outfit I found in 2011 (I later found another outfit in better condition, so I swapped my first blonde Barbie out of it). She was from the "Teresa lot" of 2016. I of course instantaneously recognized her the moment we met! Her distinctive red lips, gorgeous facial screening, and her painted panties are hard to forget. Sadly, she did not arrive to my house with her baby sister. But that being said, I had two Shoppin' Kelly/Shelly dolls growing up...which means that both my blonde Barbies have baby sisters! She's not nearly as attractive as my African American doll or my first blonde. But I really appreciate her unique look. She has much wider eyes, which are placed a bit more to one side of her face. She was quite the train wreck when I found her--her hair was a rat's nest no doubt! I'm so impressed with how well this beauty cleaned up, and even though I already had two Shoppin' Fun Barbies, I was so appreciative to have found one more! I really don't deserve one of these gals, let alone three!

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set. Hans has been deboxed, leaving Elsa still attached to the display case. First we remove the large plastic support piece behind her. Then we untack her outfit from the base of the display stand. We open her cape and skirt to show her legs tied to the metal post of the built in doll stand.

It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed.
