An event to launch and display three of these new Hybrid buses was held on Castle Street, Edinburgh on 13 April 2013. The vehicles there for public inspection were 1 LB13 BUS, 2 HY13 BUS and 3 SN13 BCY, the first three of a batch of ten buses, 1 - 10.
These single deckers were painted in a pearlescent Radiance Red and Winter Gold livery (like the Hybrid ADL Trident E400Hs delivered in 2011). They were branded as "ecoLothianbuses.com" with pale blue "be the one..." lettering applied to the lower part of the side windows from just aft of the rear wheels.
Volvo badges were fitted at the front. The lower rear engine covers carried "VOLVO" (on the left) and "7900" (on the right) badging with "Hybrid" below the cover to the right of the registration plate.
Wheels were weight saving unpainted alloy and, unusually for Lothian, the front ones were devoid of nut ring covers.
Narrow/slim advert frames were fitted to engine covers from around 2015, being replaced by larger frames around 2017.
In later years upon refurbishment and repaint into Fleet of the Future madder and white, the front wheels gained nut ring covers. The rear badging was placed below the engine cover either side of the registration plate with"VOLVO" to the left and "7900 Hybird" to the right. These buses looked much better after their make-over.

Closer look at my AMT Enterprise B. Final coat was a gloss pearlescent clear sprayed from a can over a flat clear coat. Final model has a semigloss or satin sheen.
Found this little guy on my Common Rue plant on 8/12, the day before we got 3-1/2 inches of rain. After the rain I found him on the ground a foot away from the plant. I placed him on a piece of bark, right next to the plant, and hoped he would make his way up the plant. When I checked again later, I could find no sign of him. But hooray! On 8/21 I found him again. (The plant is big!) He's still there this morning, looking big and healthy.
I've also been keeping an eye on three eggs. One has been changing from orange to pearlescent - I wonder if it is getting ready to hatch.
Pilgrims in a pine temple
Wandering into the silent and bear-black forest, the silvered sliver of a hooking moon set, we filled every silent space with amber-toothed, snarling phantoms and held them at bay with nips of cognac and the click of the shutter. Silhouettes under pearlescent starlight, the big trees are primeval minarets, spires of the oldest and grandest cathedral on Earth. We moved reverently, slowly - pilgrims in a pine temple come in the dark to play witness.
Some amongst these trees were old when men lashed Andromeda to the briny rocks and awaited the leviathan. We've filled the interceding centuries with other lambs led to slaughter, and emerging from darkness, discovered her still radiant, shackled to a constellation that is dying in a corner of the sky. Then as now, we are infants amongst giants, in wonder at skies the big trees have seen reel a million times, shades passing in the night. These are the days of miracle and wonder indeed.
We headed into the Sierras looking for a winter adventure, hoping for giant, snow-bound sentinels holding winter in great, fragrant handfuls. Instead we found beautiful, unseasonable warmth and clear night skies amongst the carpeted and ancient groves. We came for the snow and found so much more in its absence.</p

on a garden safari I located these cool eggs , in the damp dirt they lay pearlescent . Taken with a Sigma 90mm lens .
Here she is! My 6th Disney store custom doll! And isn't she pretty? She took alot of time, alot of beads, and 4 different dresses! But I'm happy to say, she's finally done! I made everything on her. She was originally a 2013 Disney store Pocahontas doll. I took off her original outfit, and original paint. I repainted her face, and highlighted it with gold. I also have her real eyelashes, and made them angled. Her outfit is beaded with white, and gold glass beads. It's also jeweled with real crystals. Her outfit is made of a very fine suede, and lined with dark tan silk. Her leaves are made of a silk organza, hand glittered by me. Her necklace is made with glass beads, and one real crystal. She also has white pearlescent crystal earrings, and glass bead anklet. Her stand was made also by me, and has molded features. Such as a fish, and rock, and water! The stand is also lined on the bottom with black leather. She was a total labor of love!lol but honestly, I'm glad to be done. As its the last doll that I need for my doll portfolio. New pictures are coming soon for all of my ooak dolls. Especially outside pictures with her! As Elsa sent a snow storm, and she and i would've froze.lol

used red, green and blue torches to make the silver car look pearlescent then used wire wool to create the sparks and the pattern on the door was created using LED disco gloves
The prototype AC/Shelby Cobra made its public debut in Apr 1962 at the New York Auto Show, painted pearlescent yellow by car customizer Dean Jeffries.
Nacreous clouds tonight at and after sunset. Fantastic to see, I've only seen them once before and hadn't a clue what I was looking at then. They are high altitude clouds that refract the last of the sun through ice crystals.
A marijuana dispensary from Colorado is my latest customer!
I was contacted by Medicine Man Denver in Colorado for some small stamps they'll use instead of hole punches on their customer loyalty cards. I created this design that incorporates a marijuana leaf and their MM logo, made it into 8 stamps that measure roughly 1cm or 3/8" tall.
The tree slices I use for them come from a couple of different trees; I used Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy, my favorite dark green ink pad, to stamp the design on the back of the wood mounts.

Nissan GTR in titanium, one of my favorite cars in what has become one of my favorite colors. Titanium is a pearlescent paint that shows off gold hues in the sun, and bluish silvers in the dark. It was beautiful and an interesting challenge to light.

A very odd color combo on this Ferrari 599 GTO I found during my trip in Monaco, the only one in this color combo, never seen before I think! Pretty exclusive and actually quite nice.
It's white with BROWN parts (although saying CHOCOLATE is better, like a friend pointed out to me lol). Chocolate wheels that glow in the sun, with an orange cavallino on the wheel tip, chocolate carbon fiber on the side-view mirrors, chocolate line on the racing livery... sadly, the front grill was painted white, and so where the parts around the exhausts, giving it an odd look. However, I do like the general ensemble, except for the back! Nevertheless, great 599 GTO from Germany! What do you think?

I knew I had to have this new flower bird garden stamp the minute I saw it! Then I came across a video by Jennifer McGuire showing how she watercolored this image using distress inks- so I was completely inspired by her to create this card. I put my own spin on it using brighter "Springy" colors and some pearlescent paint mixed in with the distress ink (which you can't see at all.....) I used the new classic fabric design as the BG here stamping it using Scattered Straw distress ink. I LOVE my new 2011 Hero Arts stamps!
Supplies used:
Hero Arts stamps CL130, CG270, CG245
Hero Hues "Sea" blue layering paper
Yellow cardstock
Versamark and white detail embossing powder
distress inks in the colors: scattered straw, wild honey, spiced marmalade, barn door, peeled paint, shabby shutters, and broken china
White pearlescent paint by Lumiere
May Arts ribbon

I used royal icing on these and brushed them with a little luster dust after they dried to give them a pearlescent finish. I used black sanding sugar on the bodies to give them a fuzzy look.

Deboxing my LE Wedding Cinderella. The cardboard backing has been removed from the inner box, and is free standing. The doll is attached to the backing by wires and plastic ties. The background image is the exterior stairs of the Castle at night.
On my second attempt to get the the Limited Edition Wedding Cinderella 17'' Doll from eBay, I finally got her! I got her with the help of a fellow collector. She is #450 of 500, and was originally sold by the Japan Disney Store. There is a Japanese sticker on the bottom of the box. She was shipped double boxed, and very well packed. She arrived in perfect condition.
She is very beautiful, and has a serene expression, rather than the grumpy pout of the LE Ballgown Cinderella doll. Her lips have a slight smile, which is part of why she has a more pleasant expression than the other doll, who shares the same face mold. She is glancing in the opposite direction of the Ballgown Cinderella, and her skin has a matte surface, rather than the shiny pearly surface of the Ballgown doll. Her pale yellow wedding gown has many differently sized and colored rhinestones enhancing the printed floral pattern. There are also several small jeweled plastic butterflies in the skirt, hidden amongst the flowers. The decorations continue throughout the back of the dress. There are also faux pearl buttons on her sleeves and on the back of her bodice. Her skirt is very full with a long train, and is in three differently colored layers. Under her skirts is a 3/4 length single layer tulle petticoat. Attached to her hair is an oversized pale yellow sheer chiffon veil. She has golden earrings and a jeweled golden tiara. Her wedding ring is a floral design with five golden beads; it is pinned to her hand. She has the old style legs, with fixed ankles. She is wearing simple ivory heels, with no decorations.
I will be posting a full set of detailed photos of this doll. She will be shown boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed, both by herself and with other Disney Store dolls.

The Limited Edition Elsa Doll, released in stores in North America on March 3, 2015. My doll is #2942 of 5000. She is in jeweled purple felt (made from faux wool). This is the outfit she wore as an 18 year old when saying good bye to her parents before their overseas journey. She is wearing ice blue jeweled satin gloves, which help repress her ice powers. Her hands are clasped together. Her pose and look are that of a sternly repressed nature. She is standing in front a purple window of the Castle, which is closed, as she is closed to the outside world.
She is wearing black flats with floral decoration. Her jacket is pinned to her dress, which I left alone, as it helps to keep the jacket from opening up. There was a large amount of tissue paper stuffing under her skirt. I had to remove her from the doll stand before I could remove the tissue.
She has shiny pearlescent skin, and her skin tone is between that of Coronation Elsa and Snow Queen Elsa. Her hair is slicked down in the front and is in a bun in the back. There is gold tinsel in her hair, even in her side burns.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Part of why I went through so much effort to re-root and repair the Princess and the Pea doll was because she had her outfit. It would have been such a shame to trash her, when her face paint and ensemble were in impeccable condition. Plus, I was unlikely to require this gown for a random flea market rescue. I've never encountered one of these Storytime Collection dolls in the wild. Believe me, I would have noticed...I think they are magical! There is a more deluxe version of the Princess and the Pea. This gal was marketed for Kid Connection (Walmart's toy brand). Her outfit is simplified, but still amazing quality. The fancier doll has long, puffy sleeves (that remind me of 2002 Xpress It! Yasmin's spare top). The majority of her top is purple corset, whereas this gal's just has a strip of purple. The other doll's skirt looks similar, but has added sheer layers to make it plume. Her crown is also pearlescent white, as opposed to the green you see here (but it looks to be the same mold). I think I actually might prefer this version...it looks more casual princess. The sort of thing she'd wear around the castle gardens on a stroll. Maybe I'm thinking of "The Swan Princess" film when I'm studying this photo, and imagining Odette wearing this on a picnic with Derek. Anyways, this beautiful shade of green is perfect on the doll's tanned skin tone and paired with her red tresses!
Pendant in the mokume gane style. Made with alcohol ink-tinted aluminum leaf, metallic paint (Lumiere, Halo Purple, I think it's called), and probably something else that isn't coming to mind. Maybe Daler-Rowney Pearlescent Acrylic Ink (Moon Violet)?

Shall we have a Gazania week? Sun's out again and I have a big smile on my face (can't imagine why ;-))
What a beautiful machine. Peugeot had a long history of partnership with Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina; the Peugeot 406 Coupe was both designed and built by Pininfarina in Italy.
The car was manufactured and sold between 1996 and 2004, and had several engine choices available - a 2 litre petrol engine (3 variants over the lifespan), a 2.2 litre petrol engine, a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine (2 variants), and - unusually for a coupe of that era - a 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine. 107,633 cars were built in total, with over half being sold in France.
There were two main trim levels available - S and SE. The S trim was the entry-level option, and had cloth-covered, mechanically-adjusted seats. The SE trim had full leather interior, with motorized seats, a premium JBL sound system with amplifier and 6 CD changer, satellite navigation, and headlamp washers. There were several special edition trims also - the Silver & Black editions had different alloy wheels and half-leather interior. The Settant'Anni edition had special white leather interior with the Pininfarina logo embossed on the headrests. Regardless of the trim level, the seats were designed by Pininfarina and built by Recaro.
The SE trim had the leather available in several colours - black, tan, or red, with the door cards, steering wheel, and gearshift gaiter (on manual transmission cars) in matching leather trim.
The body was available in a range of 15 different paints, some of which are metallic, others pearlescent, and others simply solid paint.
This particular car has a V6 engine, but from the crossover year so it's not really easy to guess whether it was the original ES9J4 (194 HP) or the tuned ES9J4S (210 HP) version. This car has automatic transmission, which for the V6 models comes in the form of a four-speed ZF gearbox (ZF 4HP20). Note on the front wheels the large Brembo four-cylinder brake calipers - the V6 model of the car had these as standard through most of the car's life. The 16in alloy wheels were fitted as standard to the V6 version as the 15in version of this wheel was not large enough to fit over the large Brembo calipers. The wheels were designed by Pininfarina and built by BBS. The V6 model also had variable power steering, an effort to keep the steering feel responsive with the weighty V6 engine up front. The paint colour on this car is Polaris Blue, a metallic paint. The car has headlamp washers, so it has SE trim. The interior is tan leather.
I owned one of these cars for 7 years and it was simply fantastic; I still miss it. Mine was Scarlet Red, in SE trim, with the black leather interior, and the 2.2 litre 160HP petrol engine.
The Shadownlands Collection is based on science fiction stories by Dyan Bender.
The second character in the collection is Fyre, whose secret name is Ardala. She is the adopted daughter of a wealthy Healer and direct descendant of the last ruler of what is often called the Great City.
She is a Highborn, a race the developed from Human close intermarriage of the ruling families. Thru centuries of narrowed bloodlines a race of physically beautiful and mentally gifted people consolidated power. Marked physically by extremely pale pearlescent skin and blazing red hair with oddly metallic quality. Highborn are marked by a drive to acquire power and are gifted with something other races call Charisma.
Ardala is young, she has gained her full height but is still not filled out completely. She has been able to pass as a boy for years. Her eyes are blue, the warm blue of shallow seas, and bright with curiosity and good humor. Although wealthy now for many years she and her mother moved often and she has learned to easily adapt to new locations...she enjoys learning about new people, customs and cultures. She is gentle, and her gentle nature shows in her expression. She completely lacks the imperious and commanding nature that typically marks Highborn, but she is just starting to understand that she has personal power, she is starting to learn that she can command the attention of others.
She wears her silk finery, wide pants of teal silk that were left a bit short in the ankles in her last growth spurt; silk slippers encrusted with brass sequins; a silk chiffon vest draping over her young shoulders with fine brass chains; a bra heavily embellished with tiger eye gems, brass and gold, forming hawk motives that symbolize and foreshadow her soaring potential. Her hips, neck and intricately braided hair are adorned with gold chains.
The doll is a Andro Inamorata Nnaji in Milk skintone.
This is a commissioned bespoken OOAK doll and not for sale.
Two Caterhams on display in the Lotus 7 Club area adjacent to the track at Maggotts. The 7 on the right is a 1999 1800cc which has the braced rollover hoop that entitles it to run in track days, while the 7 on the left is unique. It is a 1600 Sprint in Pearlescent Lemon Glaze, number 8 of the limited run of Silver Jubilee models, has tan leather individual seats.and was the 1982 British International Motor Show car at the NEC.

The Stylidium vinosum flowers mid October in a restricted area. It is a plant requiring more research.
The flowers are white with red markings, throat yellow with 3 pearlescent squares. The back of the petals is red-wine coloured. Has a long flower tube covered with glandular hairs.
The leaf rosette has individual leaves with a white edge and a small white hair at the end.

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set. Elsa has been deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by a Kaiser stand. Her hair braid is draped over her left shoulder. Her cape and skirt are opened so both legs are showing.
I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.
I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.
The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.
I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

After my previous Batman render, I decided to rework part of my Blender script mainly to improve the rubber and pearlescent materials.
This render is made using the mecabricks 2 blender script revision 1.8.6 that you can get here for free.
Marble effect for pearl material has been provided by Cynaptic

I know I call her MiaoMiao a lot but her name is actually Margot, which is a name of French origins, meaning "pearl." She's someone who's supposed to be rebellious, spunky and sassy, but the most elegant--and possibly unexpected and mismatched--part about her are her pearl earrings. Which I have yet to put on her. I will find some one day. But enjoy this picture of Margot basking in pearls!

This creepy haute couture lizard for Halloween is Phelsuma, a OOAK Inamorata art doll with Nnaji head sculpt and Andro bust type in Charcoal resin.
Her highly editorial make up has a pearlescent green scale pattern running from her brow to the back of her head, red and gold lips, rust coloured eyes and wild eyeshadow covering her brow with multi coloured leaf gold. The look is finished with green sequins as bindi and below her eyes.
The translucent netting dress is a hand stitched with thick scaly clusters of red and green sequins and beads to accentuate feminine form. The netting boots with Classic Stiletto heels have a line of red sequins running down the back seam.
Both doll and the fashion are available in the shop now:
