The only way these patches could ever be cool would be if the following scenario ensued:

I become friends with an old steel tycoon like Herman Blume. We would then fall in love with the same woman, decide to do everything we could to destroy one another's lives as we ruthlessly try to win over the woman. In time, we would see the error of our ways, make up, and I would ask him if he would like to have either my "8 on the break" patch or my "break and run" patch. That way we could each have one as a symbol of our friendship. (I never got a punctuality award or perfect attendance pin).
