Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are the only breeding hummingbird species in the eastern United States. While the males are known for their bright red throat patch, the females lack this feature but are just as impressive in flight and behavior. Their wings can beat up to 80 times per second, allowing them to hover and maneuver with incredible precision.
