Two boys capsize their yacht! For all I know that might be a future America's Cup sailor out there :)
Not as bad as it looks, instructors just out of picture were telling them to do it for practise at getting their boat upright again. This is in Auckland at Howick beach, with Waiheke Island, think red wines, in the background about 12 km away.
Uno scoiattolo in piena attività .... saltatoria .... sarò forse noioso ma non resisto alla tentazione di immortalare questi splendidi animaletti, anche se ... d'importazione ...
I peeked in the Bluebird house thinking the eggs might have hatched. Mrs. was in there and was none to happy to see me, but she didn't fly out.
Didn't realize it when I snapped the photo, but the little hoverfly had a tiny drop of ...whatever ... on his bum.
Last week I visited a friend who lives close to Safety Beach and we went for a walk down the bay trail beside Anthony's Nose and the McCrae Lighthouse.
This is where, a week or so ago, one of the multi-million dollar homes slid down the cliffside into a couple of others. A big headache for all involved, a council worker inspecting the property at the time of the collapse was injured but lucky to be alive. The recriminations and clean up are to come. The main road beside the beach is now blocked and those who are nearby but not affected are enjoying the quietness and lack of traffic. But they too must be worried that their houses may also have some risk of slips too!
Every time one of my cheap Ikea wine glasses develops a crack, I set it aside for something like this. This week's Strobist Sundays challenge, "falling", seemed like a good opportunity to put the fractured stemware to use. I dropped the glass with one hand and fired my remote shutter trigger with the other. Needless to say, this picture was done in one take.
The image was lit with a single flash through a 1/8 inch grid fired at the white wall behind the table. I did my best to flag off light from all other directions so that the edges of the glass would appear as dark as possible. In post I added a vignette and a blue tint.

Oxford, a city in central southern England, revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval center led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the 'City of Dreaming Spires'. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower (with city views) to the Botanic Garden on the River Cherwell.
