What better to do on a rainy day than try doing some lens comparisons..

Here's a comparison of my 4 10X microscope objectives.

The target is a prepared slide of a pine stem, and the objectives were mounted on my 'snowcatcher' copy stand. The images were uncropped and just resized.

No great surprises. The Olympus seems the sharpest across the whole frame, followed by the Nikon, with the Fisher and the NoName looking quite poor in the corner.

Considering that the the Olympus had a list price of US$735 back in 1992, and the NoName cost me US$20 new in 2017 I'm not surprised.

In order to make life more difficult I set myself a mini project tonight. The objective was to shoot 4 photos each one was to be titled with the names of the CMYK 4 colour process. The loose rule was that, with the exception of white, the main colour component of the shot had to be one of the four colour components. All the shots are from Manchester city centre.

This one is supposed to be yellow but once I changed the white balance it wasn't really! This was the first shot I took to and it looked quite yellow so I didnt pay that much attention, I suppose I could have cheated but it just looked wrong

The rest of the set is here:
