It looked fine to me. Perhaps the scale was off.

It seems the only thing wrong with this relief map of Little Bighorn was that the audio commentary wasn't working.

In this photo, it's the objective has been reached. There's decent coloring of the potato; it's not horrible blurry, and the the back ground is both there, and blended in. So, a balance of ISO/Fstop and still work to do on focus. It is 'kit' lens, which likely has some limitations. Otherwise, this was the aim. Though, the outcome is a bit of a... meh.

History:

I read, a while back, about a man whose name is Kevin Abosch (www.kevinabosch.com), who, very simply, took a photo of a potato that sold for over 1 million dollars US. There was the very typical reaction from me, probably like a lot of the not-so-smart-world:

Who buys anything like that?

What’s so special about a potato?

ANYONE can do that, right?

Who takes pictures of potatoes?

But after some reflection, and a few un-answered social media reach outs to Mr. Abosch, I started to think it over:

How easy is it to take a GOOD photo of a potato?

What can you learn from taking a picture of a potato?

What makes a good photo of a potato?

Can it be interesting to take a picture of just a potato?

How hard is it to take a GOOD photo of a potato?

What makes a good photo of a potato?

Is a potato worth of photos?

Since I am (barely) an amateur photographer, and currently job hunting, learning by experience is the ideal method to develop photography skills. So, I purchased a purple potato. Actually several purple potatoes. All were eat except for one. And thus, it is the subject of the photos. I’m attempting to refrain from comical or whimsical photos of it. But instead, take the photos, and then comment on what I learned from it, both before, during and after the photo was taken.

I’ve also started an instagram (purple.potato) account and twitter (@1PurplePotato) account for the potato. The project will last as long as the potato does. Life, it seems, is kind of that way.

If you’ve read this far, I’d LOVE to hear your commentary.

The objective of this exhibition was to present 50 published numbers of a prominent arhictectural magazine in Croatia – Oris, at the event celebrating its 10 years of existance. The event-exhibition took place in a circular ˝Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts˝ building in Zagreb (Croatia) and it lasted one week.

50 magazine covers, printed using citylight technique on a clear foil and hung beneath a honeycomb-like glass dome and lit by natural light, made a spatial installation which - with light and transparent covers of ˝flying Oris˝, created a special visual experience. 50 of the actual published numbers of Oris were exhibited on the circular wall placed in plexiglass panels. Also, 7 different LCD screens with Nintendo controlers were part of the exhibition allowing the visitor to view an animated presentation of the magazine, as well as published books, symposioums and events organized by Oris.

Studio's art director Ante Rašić is one of the founders of the magazine and a member of the editorial board. From 1998-2008, alongside Oris, designers from Studio Rašić designed all accompanying publications for Arhitekst, for promotions and events such as: Days of Oris, exhibition Oris Idea, as well as capital projects such as the book Contemporary Croatian Architecture.

One of my main objectives for the 2024 Summer Chicago trip was Illinois Central "Death Star" SD70's. Reports and intel had led me to going to one particular hotspot due to its potential of seeing up to 8 daily death star leaders, Griffith, Indiana.

Upon arriving there on an overcast Friday afternoon, I was immediately greeted by what I was out for, IC 1019 leading local L515 from Gary to Chicago. The full lashup was also a very nice surprise, with a CREX gevo trailing 2nd and 2 widecab EMD's 3rd and 4th.

Unfortunately, the day before my trip, CN derailed at Matteson Junction, throwing off the normal operations of basically all of CN's Chicago movements, resulting in this being one of only 2 death star leaders for the entire day. But 2 is better than none so I will gladly accept it, and it gives me a reason to go back in the future.
