Objective 2: Creative Exposure

The camera mode (P, Tv, Av, M) and why I chose it: I chose Av mode because I wanted to be able to control my depth of field, for the best possible composition.

f stop used: f/5.6 because it made sure the flower was still the main focal point.

shutter speed used: 1/250 because it adjusted itself when I chose my aperture.

ISO used:100 because I was outdoors and a smaller ISO allowed for a crisper picture with less noise.

Exposure compensation: 0

Focal length: 55mm because I didn't want the flowers features to be distorted.

Objective 4: Lighting

Type of lighting: I used soft ambient light to take this shot because it didn't create shadows and it didn't wash out the colours of the flower. Due to the fact that this flower has many unique colours, and it is the focal point, the ambient light brought out and intensified its naturally beautiful colours.

Objective 5: Post Production (ex. dust/spot removal, contrast, white balance, sharpening, borders, etc.)

Corrections/adjustments made: I reduced the noise a bit in Digital Photo professional, added contrast, and converted to a TIFF format from RAW. I added a small black signature at the bottom of the page as to not distract you from the flower. I added an unsharp mask and resized for flickr using Photoshop.

Objective 7: Photographic Styles (ex. portrait, landscape, etc.)

Type/style of photography: This photo is a nature shot because everything in it is natural and not manipulated.

The camera mode (P, Tv, Av, M) and why I chose it: I chose Av mode because I wanted to be able to control my depth of field, for the best possible composition.

f stop used: f/5.6 because it made sure the flower was still the main focal point.

Focal length: 55mm because I didn't want the flowers features to be distorted.

Objective: create anything we want. no other guidelines or directions were given. I honestly never took a picture for this project but I found an old one and edited it.

The railings in this photo make this an example of leading lines. When it was first taken it was very warm. I could not get it to look right with just a cooling filter so instead I added an overlay.

Objective end of the scope. I really like it so far. Nitrogen purged, Etched reticle. One piece tube. Nice solid clicks on the knobs.

-Objective 2

Camera mode: M (I get more control of the camera)

f stop: f/10.0 (needed a bit more in focus)

Shutter speed: 1/13, 1/50, 1/200 (needed 3 different exposed photos for HDR)

ISO: 200 (needed a slightly faster shutter speed)

Focal length: 300 mm (I couldn’t get any closer so I used a bigger focal length to get closer)

-Objective 3

Principles

•Balance (There is a good balance between the leaves and the background)

•Movement (The Branch makes the image move towards the top right part of the image)

•Contrast (The green on the branch contrasts well with the red)

Elements

•Form (The shadows on the leaves gives a 3 dimensional feel to the photo)

•Texture (Good texture with the water on the leaves)

•Line (Good leading lines in the Image)

•Shape (there is a lot of organic shapes)

-Objective 4

I used hard side lighting in order to get well detailed shadows

-Objective 5

•HDR (3 photos)

•Adjusted Contrast

•Sharpened the photo

•Resized

-Objective 6

The HDR look gave the water a lot more detail, but not all the leaves were 100% in focus

The objective of the project is the construction of the Water Supply System from groundwater abstraction in the village of Muchocolote in the PA of Catembe Simbe in the Matutuine district of Maputo Province. The community is currently using a handpump to abstract the water from the borehole. A submersible pump which will be powered by a solar panel will be installed to supply water to 2000 people.

The project entails replacing the handpump with a submersible pump and constructing a 12-meter-high tower on top of which two 10 000 litres water tanks will be installed. Solar panels will be installed and used as an energy source for the water pump. Water from the tanks will be distributed to three different villages via three different subterranean pipelines (40cm below ground) with a radius of 6km. There will be a tap at each of the 4 villages to reduce the distance locals have to travel to access water. The community will be responsible for the maintenance of the water network.
