Adventures

Compliments of Erin

Props to my friend Erin for today’s photo of me on our weekend adventure. Erin, Stan and I headed out for my seventh bear trip travelling with Tide Rip Grizzly Tours this year. What a great day: humpbacks, stellar sea lions, orcas, porpoises, 8 black bears, 7 grizzlies, eagles, snow geese, more orcas, and an Elk on the way home the next day.

My First Grizzly

From the archives 2019

I went on my first Grizzly tour with Tide Rip Grizzly to Knight Inlet back in 2019 and this was our bear first sighting. I am so excited to be heading out this weekend for my 7th season (and even more excited to have my girlfriend Erin and photo buddy Stan along for the trip!). I’m wondering if I’ll recognize any of the bears this year?

Oh, The People You Meet

Nikon z9, 70mm, 1/250s, f/2.8, ISO 100

We came up the hill toward the Merry Go Round and this family was there taking turns getting on the outside horse statue. This man was so cute in his orange suit, I just had to get his picture. I quickly asked, his daughter translated, and here is the awesome shot. Oh, The People You Meet at Butchart Gardens! I totally think it could give Disney a run for its money with the “happiest place on earth” motto.

"For our final day of our getaway from Victoria, we decided to visit Spider Lake. We had seen it on our way to the Horne Lake Caves, and after reading about it online, we decided to had to check it out. We were so glad we did. The water was amazing (although he was a bit of a wimp initially getting in), and we spent hours swimming around the lake, making occasional visits to the little islands." - Chelsea Fitz, 2012 myPQB Story Contest
