The Cathedral of Palermo is one of the most characteristic monuments of the city: visiting it is like leafing through a history book of Sicily.

It is the main place of worship in the city of Palermo and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Its highly original mix of styles, with elements of Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman, Catalan and Gothic art, is a direct consequence of the presence of multiple populations that, over the centuries, have alternated on Sicilian soil.

The style of the twelfth century prevails over all, the Norman one, although the appearance of the church as we see it today is due to modifications and additions from the eighteenth century.

A highly suggestive experience is the visit of the roofs of the Cathedral, thanks to which it is possible to discover the artistic and architectural elements of the external walls of the monument and admire Palermo from above.

The Marmore waterfall, in the province of Terni, in the Valnerina, has an overall height difference of 165 metres, over three jumps.

It is the highest in Europe of artificial origin, having been formed, in Roman times, with the modification of the course of the Velino river, which thus flows into the Nera, a tributary of the Tiber.

It is a very popular tourist destination, reachable in a couple of hours from Rome, by car.

Vivid potted Nasturtium flowers on the dock.

Tropaeolum commonly known as nasturtium literally "nose-twister" or "nose-tweaker" or nasturtian, is a genus of roughly 80 species of annual and perennial herbaceous flowering plants. [...].

Plants in this genus have showy, often intensely bright flowers, and rounded, peltate (shield-shaped) leaves with the petiole in the centre. The flowers are bisexual and zygomorphic, with five petals, a superior three-carpelled ovary, and a funnel-shaped nectar spur at the back, formed by modification of one of the five sepals. Bluebird Estates

A lighthouse was first established at Flamborough by Sir John Clayton in 1669, but was never lit.

Designed by architect Samuel Wyatt, the present lighthouse was built by John Matson of Bridlington in 1806 at a cost of £8,000. The lighthouse was oil-burning, with an equivalent candle power of 14,000. In 1940 the Flamborough Lighthouse was electrified with further modifications in 1974. Automated in early 1996, the keepers finally left on 8 May.

Located at the confluence of the Molignée and the Flavion, the Château de Montaigle stands proudly on a steep rocky spur. Built on an older construction, the medieval fortress was built at the beginning of the 14th century.

Since the Lower Empire, the site has seen a first Gallo-Roman fortification of the barred spur type. We are then in the 3rd century. A second architectural modification took place around the 9th century. It was further enlarged around the 12th century. Finally, the 14th century saw the last phase of modification of the castle as we can still see it today. The walls are, among other things, reinforced from the inside.

Formerly the seat of a bailiwick, the fortified castle, whose last phase of construction dates back to the beginning of the 14th century, was destroyed on the orders of Henry II of France in July 1554 by the Duke of Burgundy, François I of Nevers. Having already razed the town of Dinant in May 1554, the inhabitants of the castle had fled to Namur to seek the protection of Charles V. It is therefore a safe bet that the Duke encountered no resistance.

Having lost all strategic interest, the castle was never rebuilt after the destruction of 1554. It was left abandoned for a long time to the winds and other crows until an association took it over in the 20th century. The castle has been owned by the del Marmol family since 1865.

Second picture of the series Wave Power.

(The following image is an example of what that might be changing a photograph as it influences the light and the technique used. For this shot had not yet left the sun, and long exposure time created that totally different to the previous photo)

Sunrise on the beautiful village of Villajoyosa -Alicante-.

That day was blowing east wind, the waves crashed against the shore, tranquility in place...

The sun is not out of the horizon yet, nothing left to see how the power of the sea struck again and again against the shore.

Spectacles of nature that gives us every day and that lack of time sometimes do not appreciate.

To achieve this photograph I used a four-step filter and black card technique.

Beesd is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Betuwe, and lies about 16 km west of Tiel. It is situated near the river Linge and has a railway station on the railway from Dordrecht to Geldermalsen.

Beesd was first mentioned in 1224 as "in Beseth". The etymology is unclear. Beesd was founded in the Early Middle Ages on a stream ridge. It developed into a stretched out esdorp.

The Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless church with detached tower. The lower part of tower dates from around 1500. The current church is the result of an extensive modification and rebuilding in 1825. [Wikipedia]

Someone made unusual modifications to this abandoned, or ghost, ship.

A piece of curved, reinforced sheet metal has been permanently attached to the front of the vessel's pilot house. This is not normal as it would completely block the crew's view and make it impossible to steer the vessel safely from within the pilot house. Photos elsewhere taken from the other side of the boat show that the barrier does not extend as far around the starboard (right) side of the pilot house.

Also, metal bars that run from just below the roof of the pilot house to the top of the railing seem to prop up the port (left) side of the pilot house. This is not a normal feature of modern naval architectural architecture. Among other things, the row of metal bars would get in the way of people wanting to walk along the port side of the boat.

I can describe the modifications but I'm at a loss to explain them.

Gare do Oriente or alternately, the Lisbon Oriente Station is one of the main Portuguese intermodal transport hubs, and is situated in the civil parish of Parque das Nações, municipality of Lisbon.

In 1994, the station was proposed as part of the modernization of the Linha do Norte, a modification to the rail line to facilitate the future development of an Oriente station. Located along Avenida D. João II, over Avenida de Berlim and Rua Conselheiro Mariano de Carvalho, the station was planned to occupy the lands once occupied by Apeadeiro dos Olivais, which was demolished in the 1990s in order to make way for the new station.
