I have a lot to be thankful for.
These leaves were on our tree. Straight out of the camera, except for a crop.
We had very heavy rainstorms this morning but the wind was too high to take many successful droplets . These were on magnificent Japanese Maple

A post for Bokeh Wednesdays. Another mistake from last night where I forgot to check the exposure compensation on my camera before I started shooting. But in my eyes, this was a pleasant mistake with the dark background really setting off the backlit orange maple leaves. Let me know what you think. At the Sensory Garden at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS.
Have the leaves changed colour yet...? Someone asked... The answer is yes... But just the odd one...and here is one odd one!
The general impression around here...is still green!
A nice display of leaves from a maple bush in the garden. It's amazing the number of different colours one bush can produce.

We used to live in this house in Connecticut. It was a funky little place, built on a 1750s vintage stone foundation on 4 acres of land, half landscaped, half wood lot; and every Fall we were treated to the almost overwhelming colors of this magnificent maple tree. My wife had an aunt, who would occasionally visit us from New York City, and she once commented that the tree was almost too beautiful to behold, even painfully so without a martini in hand. Forty years ago, we fled the inhospitable New England Climate for sunny California and have never experienced even one iota of regret. But, when I look at this tree, I realize that there are a few weeks out of each year when California can’t hold a candle to New England.
