Travis Geske tends a batch of handmade syrup Saturday at the annual Touch of Nature Maple Syrup Festival. The festival highlighted the process of making fine maple syrup from scratch while educating patrons on the history and tradition of the craft. “When you make something yourself it just tastes better,” Geske said, eying the boiling tubs of syrup. The process, which takes between 8 and 10 hours, began early Saturday morning and continued through the afternoon. – George Lamboley | Daily Egyptian
