Saw this Maple Leaf back lit by the low sun and had to back up and get this shot! It is a Maple tree with Burgundy leaves.
I have a lot to be thankful for.
These leaves were on our tree. Straight out of the camera, except for a crop.
My neighborhood walks get colorful this time of year.

A shady corner of the garden with the Maple.
One of the best things I inherited with this garden. (Makes up for the one I planted in my last garden and had to leave.) Now I've had to leave it behind again, and nothing in my new garden to match it.
Passers by stopped and gaped at this time of year.
I like it better Viewed On Black
(Interesting how the colour varies with exposure -- with less, it goes so pink. -- my previous posting of this, taken 4 years ago, is so awful that I’m ashamed to show it -- probably ought to delete it, But it does show some improvement in selecting photos.)
(Tag “Maple” will expose it, if you insist!!!)
Designed and folded by me.

This was made for an event at my university. Comes from half a bird base and half of a frog base.
If you are Canadian, delight in this I suppose.
Somehow, DeviantART liked this image a lot more than the Flickr crowd:

If there is one thing I can say about this image, it's that no one else seems to have done this before. Sure, I'm sure others have similar compositions, but after looking at literally thousands of Japanese Maple images, I can say that mine stands fairly alone in its composition. If one were to search, "Japanese Maple," for instance, on Flickr, 99 percent of all of the images will be of "the one." As to say, the Japanese Maple next to the koi pond in the Portland Japanese Garden.
While I would have loved to have taken that picture, as well, I must confess ignorance. I couldn't even find where to shoot from to get the same composition everyone else has. I'm not even kidding -- the most common picture from the whole Japanese garden, and I couldn't spot the composition.

One of the Japanese Maple trees in Normanby Park. The country park is home to many varieties of tree, with this one being a most striking example of autumn colours.
