Doing a few fresh edits to some of my favorites from last year. Can't wait for Fall colors!
Mid Fall offers some of the most intense colors here on the lakes. This is in a small park/boat landing next to the WOW Trail (Winnipesaukii/Opechee/Winnisquam) on Lake Opechee in Laconia, NH.
This fiery Maple was showing off its fall color near the Hooper Bald pullover (NC side) of the Cherohala Skyway. Taken on 10/19/2010
Please view on black

Every year, I think the sugar maples can't possibly be as spectacular as the year before. And every year they prove me wrong.
No Photoshopping involved. I just looked up and saw back-lit leaves against a very clear blue sky.
Best viewed large.
Lovely Canadian maple syrup in a bottle shaped like a Canadian Maple Leaf. We were given this lovely bottle by our friends when they arrived but as yet it remains unopened .... my wife has said she will buy some nice pancakes, tomorrow!!

Maples in Autumn captures the forest at its most vibrant moment—when the canopy erupts into a mosaic of fiery reds, glowing oranges, and soft golden yellows. Photographed near Ottawa, Ontario, this scene reveals the signature beauty of the Canadian fall: a living tapestry of color suspended above the quiet forest floor.
Amid the brilliance, a striking birch trunk stands tall and pale, its textured bark contrasting beautifully against the warm hues of the surrounding maple leaves. Light filters gently through the branches, creating a natural stained-glass effect that highlights the depth and richness of the season.
This image feels like stepping into autumn itself—crisp air, rustling leaves, and nature’s yearly reminder of change, renewal, and the beauty found in transition.
