カエデ Japanese-maple
富士吉田、山梨県 Yamanashi, Japan
この木は回廊のカエデと違い一本で立っていた。
仲間に支えられる事も無く一人で風雨や雪に耐えて年輪を重ねた無骨な枝と陽に輝く繊細な葉の織りなすバランスに心惹かれたのでした。
We don't have the glorious Maple leaves that some parts of Canada have, that turn a rich red in the fall. Our fall colours are mainly yellow with an occasional splash of orange. There are two species here that I sometimes see that remind me of what we are missing - wild Gooseberry and the plant/shrub that is in this photo. I'm not sure what it is, but perhaps some kind of currant bush? Just a quick shot, taken on 20 September 2014, when I was walking along the path to see the family of Beavers. I haven't been there for quite some time, so I hope all is well with them.
I actually got out on a birding walk yesterday morning, a rare thing for me these days. We walked along the path in South Glenmore Park, overlooking the Glenmore Reservoir. We found only 20 species of bird, mainly the usual ones such as Chickadees, Crows, Ravens, Coots, Robins, and Nuthatches. However, we were lucky enough to see an immature Pacific Loon that was out in the middle of the reservoir. Then it disappeared and, for a brief couple of seconds, reappeared somewhat closer to us. I was able to get just one 48x zoomed shot, heavily cropped, that I might post sometime, as that was my first "proper" sighting of a Pacific Loon. So amazing to see how long these Loons can stay underwater and then reappear such a long distance away. We also were treated to two Common Loons that flew overhead. Though we saw so few birds and bird species, it was a beautiful, sunny morning, with temperatures of 10°C to 16°C.
These beautiful falls are little known and are in a lovely setting that brings you back into tune with the natural world. Situated in Grey County, about 1.5-2 hours north of Toronto, an area with many trails, beautiful lakes, more waterfalls, gorgeous landscapes, sweet little towns, forests of maple trees (and locally produced syrup) and plenty of opportunities for photography.
LOCATION: Grey County, Southern Ontario, CANADA. Halfway between Flesherton and Eugenia, the falls are at the beginning of an easy trail, only 5 minutes from parking. Take proper footwear to climb down to the lower level of the falls.
EQUIPMENT: Canon 5DII, Canon 16-35mm f2.8L lens, 2 stacked Hoya ND filters, Manfrotto tripod.
EXPOSURE: 20sec - f/19 - 100ISO.
Japanese Garden | Seattle Arboretum
Went to the Japanese Garden yesterday in the Arboretum. The Fall foliage was beyond stunning. This is one of the more popular Japanese maple trees just beyond the entrance to the garden. The light was coming from the left and lighting up the leaves with a fire of color. Best viewed full screen.
More Autumn shot from me~~ sorry, we are on early winter now so got plenty of Autumn photos to post, hope you not get bored~~~
Have a great week ahead my dear friends!!!
I'm combing through my already overstuffed "Portland Japanese Garden" folder and trying to get the best stuff out there. I refuse to be the guy still posting fall photos from the Japanese Garden in April.
This is a shot of a lesser-known Japanese Maple at the garden. Some wind kicked up on one day, and I really enjoyed the way the thing moved. Hopefully some of that translated through to the still image.

Maple leafs enjoying their last days, more photogenic than ever.
Green house effects have kept us to see Japanese maple still in December.
But this evening we are expecting a cold weather will cover the whole Japan. So Japanese Sea side area will have a heavy snowfall.
thank you for your visit!
it's fine here today, wish you'll have a lovely day :)
(explored on Nov 30. 2010. thank you very much!)
The delicate veins of the autumnal leaf. The rest of the leaf has been removed with a semiconductor etch.
