I think this just broke the record for the fastest shot I have ever composed. This was the mistiest waterfall I have seen since visiting Yosemite several years ago. It was absolutely roaring yesterday. I could feel the mist the second I got out of my car in the parking lot. By the time I got close enough to see it, I could barely keep my eyes open with all the blowing mist. So… I ducked behind a tree to take shelter. It was the only slightly dry spot around. I would peek out from behind the tree to try and pick out a spot that I thought would make a nice composition. Then I set all the camera settings the way I wanted them. Shut the autofocus off, so it wouldn't be focusing on some random particle of water. Opened up the tripod legs, then, ran out to my spot, plopped down the tripod, pulled off the lenscap, fired off a shot within about one millisecond. Then, ran back to take shelter behind my tree. I repeated this process several times until I ran out of dry things to wipe the lens with.

This is Grizzly Falls in Kings Canyon National Park.

I definitly like it sung by the Doors...

Kept driving through passing snow storms on the A49. So I decided to take a detour up Titterstone Clee since I had witness snow storms a few years ago up there. So glad I did since I saw snow storms coming from every direction, was full of energy (totally in my element).

The wind chill factor was very harsh so couldn't venture too far from my vehicle. I could hardly stand and my fingers and brain became so numb was hard to operate the camera but did manage to get a few none blurry shots.

This one was my fav since has I was taking this snow storm over Bromfield another snow storm was hitting me, totally cool.

Will catch up on flickr very soon been bust bee :-)

The sun is set; and in his latest beams

Yon little cloud of ashen gray and gold,

Slowly upon the amber air unrolled,

The falling mantle of the Prophet seems.

Light over West Auckland.

Been well crook with the real (not man:-) flu for last 4 days, decided to get out of bed for one quick post then back to the sack.

Shot - Single RAW, used GND, tweaked \cropped in DPP, thats pretty much it

Posted two more from this night a fair while ago.

Please View Large On Black to get the effect (maybe not link has stuffed out and cant restore? so contacts only I guess)

Our summer trip to Koli national park had an unnatural twist thanks to heavy fog in place of clear sunset.

Caution: selective editing performed. Which side of this magical tree in your opinion is the real forest? I'll give my take after 10 comments or a few days, whichever come first.

From time to time, the world can be a truly magical place.

Spent a lovely day at Nant yr Arian and Aberystwyth braving the cold elements (Snow, Hail & Rain) with friends John, Peter Eva & Jean

The white vertical streaks in the lightrays is rain. Technically the dawn was at 4.30 AM but clouds hid the sun until about 7 AM when this shot was taken.

Walking among the redwood forest. May the forest be with you.

What lies around the corner.

Late afternoon with a winter sun blasting through a heavy mist on Humbie Road near Eaglesham

Last rays of light before the sun hid behind the clouds at sunset.

Occasionally an "ordinary day" can be punctuated by magic. And then gratitude for the magic in a life which one knows is finite makes one re-consider the phrase, "ordinary day."

Sometimes, luck is not enough... you have to make your own magic... That's why I decide to create "fake" light rays for more impact...

Parfois, la chance ne suffit pas... On doit faire sa propre magie... C'est pourquoi j'ai décidé de créer des "faux" rayons de lumières pour plus d'impact...

My technique is alway the same:

Three exposure -2EV, 0, +2EV and then adjustement using Lightroom and layering using photoshop.

DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

Hoping everyone has a fantastic day! Shot for CC Weekly challenge - reflections.

When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat.

What can I say.....It's not been a very cold Winter. This is a left over from 2011.

A striking interplay of sunlight and shadow captured at the intersection of angular architecture. The radiant burst of light at the rooftop edge draws the eye upward, creating a dramatic sense of space and contrast. Sepia tones enhance the timeless, abstract mood of the composition.

Today was a glorious day with a real feeling of spring in the air, and myself and Caitlin had a stroll along the canal.

Now, I know this is yet another 'reflections in the canal' shot, but the light was so lovely I had to try and capture it. Indulge me...

Another old shot from probably 3 years back. This was an awesome sunset at Pine Knoll Shores NC that produced some beautiful light and some great photo opportunities. I have shared a couple shots from this sunset on my stream but this is another that I really like. I thought it was really neat how this thick cloud bank divided the sunlight above and below.

took this shot on December 31st, while me and my friends were hiking up to reach the summit of Mt. Gennaro in order to welcome the new year.

Rays of sunlight create a pattern of light across the body of a male great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) as he glides below the surface off of Mexico's Isla de Guadalupe. Depending on the position of the sun, patterns of light can take on some interesting appearances. In this case, the shark looks almost "electrified" to me. The original shot was in 2:3 aspect ration in landscape orientation, but after playing around with some different crops, the 1:1 square format seemed to work best. I have posted a color version of this crop, as well. Would love some feedback on which version you prefer.

...with most of my photographs, the subject appears as a found object, something discovered, not arranged by me. I usually have an immediate recognition of the potential image, and I have found that too much concern about matters such as conventional composition may take the edge off the first inclusive reaction.
